Rounded
Rounded is a French no-code platform for building, deploying and monitoring AI voice agents that answer and place business phone calls, on a Rounded number, an existing SIP trunk or a web widget.
What is Rounded?
Rounded is an orchestration platform for assembling, deploying and running AI voice agents on the telephone. It is published by Rounded Technologies, a French company registered in Lyon, and its stated ambition is to let a business automate phone conversations without giving up conversation quality.
The build experience is deliberately no-code. You define what the agent is for, give it a personality and write its instructions in plain language, the way you would brief a new hire. Around that sit tasks, tools, variables and knowledge bases, so the agent can look things up and act rather than merely talk. Once it behaves, you put it on a line: a phone number supplied by Rounded, your own telephony through a SIP trunk or a CCaaS platform, or a web widget embedded in your site or application.
Technically, Rounded claims a proprietary conversational engine tuned for French, latency under 700 milliseconds, more than thirty spoken languages, and infrastructure sized for anything from a thousand to ten million calls a month. Concurrency runs from 5 simultaneous calls on the entry plan to 200 and beyond on the enterprise tier. More than 2,000 applications are advertised as natively connectable, with the documentation attributing the catalogue to Pipedream, and a REST API plus webhooks and an OpenAPI specification cover everything the interface does.
Five packaged use cases anchor the product: medical secretariat, served by an off-the-shelf agent named Donna that the vendor says handles 80% of patient interactions autonomously; phone receptionist; customer support; instant lead callback; and outbound follow-ups. Seven industries are addressed explicitly, from healthcare and construction to real estate, insurance, car dealerships, restaurants and e-commerce. Published customer results include a 78% call handling rate and two and a half hours freed per day at a French clinic.
Supervision closes the loop: conversation logs, event controls, agent metrics and structured post-call questions. A partner and reseller programme, white labelling and a public status page round out the offer.
What it does
- Answer every inbound call, around the clock, with no queue and up to 200 concurrent conversations
- Book, reschedule and cancel appointments directly in a connected calendar
- Answer frequently asked questions from a knowledge base you upload
- Call inbound leads back within a minute and qualify them before handover
- Transfer a live call to a human colleague along with the full conversation context
- Run outbound campaigns for reminders, follow-ups and debt collection, including payment links
- Log every conversation, track agent metrics and push events to your business tools through webhooks
When to use Rounded / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Rounded is the right fit.
When to use Rounded
- Medical secretariats and healthcare practices drowning in inbound appointment calls, the use case the off-the-shelf Donna agent was built for
- Customer support teams that want tier-1 calls and overflow handled automatically, with intelligent escalation to a human
- Sales and growth teams that need inbound leads called back within the minute and qualified before a rep picks up
- Collections, logistics and after-sales teams running outbound reminder or follow-up campaigns at scale
- Software vendors, agencies and resellers looking to embed white-label voice agents into their own product, via SIP trunk and REST API
When not to use Rounded
- Individuals or micro-businesses on a tight budget: there is no permanent free tier, and the cheapest subscription starts at 129 EUR per month
- Anyone expecting a mobile app or a browser extension: Rounded ships as a web platform plus an API, nothing else
- Teams that need a signed Data Processing Agreement or a published subprocessor list before they sign, since neither is available on the site
- Buyers who require completed SOC 2 Type 2 or ISO 27001 certificates today, as both are still shown as in progress in the Trust Center
- Organisations running outbound prospecting who expect the vendor to carry regulatory responsibility: the terms place calling-list and call-hour compliance entirely on the customer
How to use Rounded
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Sign up at the Rounded app with a business email address and claim the 10 EUR of free credits, worth roughly fifteen minutes of conversation
- Define what the agent is for: appointment handling, bookings, order taking, lead qualification or follow-up calls
- Give the agent its personality and write its instructions in plain language, no coding required
- Break the conversation into tasks and attach the tools each one needs
- Upload a knowledge base, as PDF or plain text, so the agent can answer frequently asked questions
- Connect your business applications from the Integrations tab, authorise each account through the Pipedream pop-up, then add them to a task from the integrations catalogue
- Test the agent inside the builder before it ever speaks to a customer
- Put it on a line: assign a Rounded phone number, connect your own system through a SIP trunk with the Twilio, Telnyx or Zadarma guides, or drop the web widget on your site
- Schedule outbound campaigns from the dedicated tab if you need reminders or follow-ups
- Monitor conversation logs, metrics and post-call answers, then add scenarios as the agent proves itself
Pros & Cons
Pros
- French vendor with the platform hosted on Azure through Microsoft France and HDS-certified servers in France advertised on every plan
- Proprietary conversational engine presented as optimised for French, with latency claimed below 700 milliseconds
- Genuinely no-code build path, so operations teams can ship an agent without waiting on developers
- Three deployment routes side by side: a Rounded number, your own telephony over SIP, or a web widget
- API and webhooks included from the cheapest paid plan, not gated behind an enterprise contract
- Fully public pricing with a detailed feature-by-feature comparison table, rare in this market
- Published, quantified customer outcomes, including a 78% call handling rate and 400+ imaging centres in the pipeline of one partner
Cons
- No permanent free plan: fifteen trial minutes, then a prepaid balance and a 129 EUR monthly entry ticket
- Overage pricing contradicts itself on the pricing page, with the comparison table quoting 0.20, 0.15 and 0.13 EUR per minute and the FAQ just below quoting 0.16, 0.13 and 0.12 EUR
- No Data Processing Agreement and no subprocessor list are published anywhere on the site
- The privacy policy covers only the marketing website, leaving call recordings and transcripts undocumented
- SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001:2022 are both still listed as in progress in the Trust Center
- Prepayment is strict: access is restricted at a zero balance and the account is blocked once it reaches minus 50 EUR
- White labelling costs an extra 400 EUR per month on the Plus plan, and each additional integration adds 10 EUR per month
Pricing & Plans

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Rounded handles your data.
GDPR overview
GDPR handling is documented, though unevenly. The pricing comparison table shows GDPR compliance and HDS-certified servers in France on all four plans. A Data Protection Officer is designated, reachable at dpo@callrounded.com or by post at the Lyon head office. The privacy policy, last updated in October 2024, lists purposes, legal bases and retention periods, sets out the full set of data subject rights, and points users to the CNIL for complaints. Transfers outside the EEA linked to the website's US hosting are covered by the Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses. Security measures cited include pseudonymisation, encryption and regular testing. Two gaps remain: no Data Processing Agreement is published, and no subprocessor list exists.
Who owns the data?
Under the terms of service, Rounded Technologies owns the platform itself and everything it publishes: interface, design, code, trademarks, databases. Customers receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it, and systematic extraction of platform content is prohibited. What the terms never state is who owns the material customers bring in or generate: call recordings, transcripts, uploaded knowledge bases. The published privacy policy covers only the marketing website and its visitors, not the call data flowing through the platform. In practice the API gives customers control over their own records, with endpoints to retrieve, update and permanently delete calls, agents and knowledge base sources.
Reuse rights
Rounded publishes no reuse licence for customer call data, so no permission to reuse is granted or withheld in writing. On the website side, the privacy policy is precise: contact forms, beta-test applications, sales meetings booked through Calendly and job applications are processed on the basis of consent, access is restricted to the communications, HR, sales and IT teams, and data may be disclosed to third parties only where the law, a court or a public authority requires it, or to protect people's safety. No cookies are placed on visitors' browsers. Nothing anywhere on the site says whether conversations are used to train models, and no opt-out mechanism is documented, so customers with a training-exclusion requirement should get that point in writing before signing.

Hosting summary
Two different hosting arrangements sit side by side, and it is worth keeping them apart. The platform itself, according to the terms of service, runs on Microsoft's Azure cloud operated by Microsoft France in Issy-les-Moulineaux, and the pricing comparison table advertises HDS-certified servers in France on all four plans. The site's FAQ likewise states that servers are hosted in France and that conversations remain confidential. The marketing website, however, is hosted by Amazon Web Services in Seattle, which the privacy policy openly presents as a transfer outside the European Economic Area, covered either by the Data Privacy Framework or by Standard Contractual Clauses. Calendly, based in Atlanta, handles sales meeting bookings. French law governs the contract and only the French version of the documents prevails. No information is published about where call recordings and transcripts are physically stored.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Rounded.
- Nothing public explains what happens to call recordings and transcripts: the privacy policy covers only the marketing website, so retention, access and deletion of actual conversations are undocumented
- The terms include an express waiver of the vendor's liability for the decisions and statements of its AI agents, which shifts the consequences of a bad answer onto you and your customer
- Outbound prospecting compliance sits entirely with the customer: calling hours, frequency limits, opt-out lists such as Bloctel and prohibited sectors are your legal exposure, not the vendor's
- A voice agent that answers convincingly can lull a team into skipping supervision; the platform provides logs, metrics and post-call questions precisely because agents need reviewing, not trusting blindly
- Automating tier-1 calls erodes an organisation's own knowledge of what customers actually ask, and rebuilding that instinct after a year of delegation is slower than losing it was
- Marketing insists on servers in France while the privacy policy acknowledges the website is hosted on AWS in the United States, a discrepancy worth clarifying before making hosting claims to your own clients
- Certifications are announced as in progress rather than obtained, and no DPA is published, so a compliance-driven procurement process may stall at the first questionnaire
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low for a standard deployment, moderate if you connect your own telephony. Rounded advertises a four-step path and a first agent live in minutes: define the mission, write the instructions in plain language, connect your applications, then assign a phone number. Integrations are authorised in a few clicks through Pipedream. The vendor does warn that complex integrations may need developers. Connecting an existing phone system over SIP is the demanding part, though step-by-step guides cover Twilio, Telnyx and Zadarma. Certified implementation partners and, on the Plus plan, a solution engineer are available.

Should you pick Rounded?
Rounded is one of the more credible European entries in the AI voice agent market, and its strengths are concrete rather than rhetorical. The platform runs on Azure through Microsoft France, advertises HDS-certified servers in France on every plan, and puts a proprietary engine tuned for French at the centre of its pitch. That combination matters to healthcare, insurance and public-sector buyers who cannot casually send call recordings across the Atlantic. The no-code builder is genuinely usable by operations teams, yet the REST API, webhooks and SIP trunking are available from the cheapest paid plan, which keeps developers and software vendors in the picture too. Pricing is published in full, with a detailed comparison table, and the customer results on display are quantified rather than vague.
The reservations are equally concrete. There is no permanent free tier, and the 129 EUR monthly entry ticket plus a strict prepaid balance make casual experimentation expensive. The pricing page contradicts itself on overage rates, which is a small thing that signals a young operation. More importantly for a product handling phone conversations, no Data Processing Agreement is published, no subprocessor list exists, and the privacy policy covers only the marketing website, so nothing public explains what happens to recordings and transcripts. SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 are both still in progress. The terms also place full responsibility for outbound prospecting compliance on the customer.
Verdict: a strong fit for French-speaking organisations with heavy inbound call volumes, and for software vendors wanting a white-label voice layer, provided the buyer gets the data and retention commitments in writing before signing.
