What is PDF Guru?
PDF Guru is an all-in-one document platform that runs entirely in a web browser. It is published by Lopofist Limited, a company registered in Cyprus, and requires no download, no installation and no updates: the same catalog works from Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS or Android as long as there is a browser and a connection.
The catalog itself is the main argument. More than 100 tools are grouped into five families: Edit & Sign, Convert from PDF, Convert to PDF, Other formats, and Forms. The editor handles text and images inside the PDF, shapes, highlights and comments; three e-signature options cover simple electronic signing; page tools merge, split, extract, delete, rotate, crop and reorganize; and files can be password-protected or unlocked. Uploads are capped at 100 MB per file.
The AI layer sits on top of that classic editor. A PDF Summarizer and a Book Summarizer, both powered by the OpenAI API, condense a document and then let the reader ask it questions in a chat. The summarizer advertises more than 90 processing languages, while the site interface itself exists in 25. OCR makes scanned documents editable and searchable, and an image-to-text tool pulls written content out of pictures. Audio and video files can be converted or transcribed into text.
A forms library rounds out the offer, with ready-to-fill US paperwork (W-9, W-7, 1040, 8962) plus HR, real estate, military and finance templates.
The publisher claims 15 million users across 180 countries, 27 million uploads, 9 million files edited and 17 million converted, and displays an aggregate rating of 4.1/5 from 44,076 Trustpilot reviews. Norton by Symantec, Secure SSL Encryption, Google Safe Browsing and PDF Association Member badges appear on the site; security claims cover SSL in transit, AES encryption on the server side and GDPR compliance. The About page says the product started in 2023 and that the team tripled in a year.
Access requires an account created with an email address. The first file can be downloaded free of charge; after that, a subscription is needed. There is no public API, no native mobile app and no browser extension.

In US dollars, they are a 7-day limited access at $0.99 followed by $49.99 per month, a 7-day full access at $1.99 followed by the same $49.99 per month, and an annual plan at $299.99. The lowest entry point is therefore $0.99, but it is a paid seven-day trial that converts to the monthly price, not a free tier. GDPR overview
GDPR compliance is claimed explicitly on the homepage and the About page. The controller, LOPOFIST LIMITED, is established in Cyprus, inside the EU, so no Article 27 representative has to be appointed. The privacy policy, effective 13 July 2026, sets out legal bases for EEA users (contract, legitimate interest, consent, legal obligation) and lists the rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction, portability and complaint to a supervisory authority. Rights are exercised by email to support@pdfguru.com; no data protection officer is named. Transfers outside the EEA rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or on adequacy decisions, and the policy treats the United Kingdom as part of the EEA for its own purposes. One internal inconsistency is worth noting: the policy header sets the minimum age at 16, while its section 7 and the terms of use both say 18.
Who owns the data?
You keep your files. The terms state plainly that, as between the user and PDF Guru, the user retains all rights and ownership of their content, and that the publisher claims no ownership rights over it. The data controller is LOPOFIST LIMITED, a company registered in the Republic of Cyprus, with a registered office at 26 Stavrou Street, Strovolos, Nicosia. Uploaded files are stored on the account so the service can operate on them. Two personal characteristics deserve attention: a handwritten signature is processed as personal data when the signing feature is used, and voice recordings may generate a voiceprint, covered by an Illinois BIPA notice, with no identification use claimed.
Reuse rights
Because the user keeps all rights over the files they upload, they can reuse, publish or sell on the documents they produce with PDF Guru without asking anyone's permission: the publisher grants itself no licence of ownership over that content. On the publisher's side, data is used to deliver the service, provide support, communicate, measure usage and, subject to consent, serve personalized advertising. Named service providers include OpenAI, Amplitude, Firebase, Google, Hotjar, Microsoft Bing, Clarity, PayPal, Solid, Appsflyer, Zendesk and ZeroBounce. The OpenAI API specifically powers AI summarization and analysis of PDF files, and the conversion of voice recordings into text. The policy says no personal information is sold for monetary compensation, while conceding that advertising-related data sharing could be interpreted as a "sale" or "sharing" under some US state laws even where no money changes hands. One point is left open: nothing is published about whether uploaded documents are used to train AI models, neither that they are nor that they are not. No hosting country and no hosting region is published, on any page of the site. The privacy policy states only that some of the data is stored and processed on the servers of the named third parties it lists, among them OpenAI, Firebase, Amplitude, Clarity, PayPal, Solid and Zendesk, which means the actual location depends on those providers rather than on a commitment made by PDF Guru. International transfers are therefore possible; where personal data originating in the EEA goes to a country without an adequate level of protection, the policy relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or on adequacy decisions. The controller itself, Lopofist Limited, is established in Cyprus, which places the legal jurisdiction inside the EU even though the technical one is undocumented. On the network side, the domain resolves to a CloudFront/Amazon node with a Zurich edge, but that is a content delivery network and says nothing about where documents are actually stored. Encryption claims cover SSL in transit and AES on the server side. No data processing agreement and no contractual hosting commitment is published for business customers.
