DeepSwap
DeepSwap is an online AI face-swap editor for videos, photos and GIFs, paired with generative video and image tools. It serves content creators, marketers and production teams, runs entirely in the browser, and bills by credits.
What is DeepSwap?
DeepSwap is an online face editor that uses artificial intelligence algorithms to alter the faces in a piece of media. The terms name three supported formats — video, photo and GIF — and the product menu adds a VR face swap module, a video generator and a set of image tools. Everything runs in a browser with no installation, though an account is required before anything can be generated.
The publisher presents proprietary in-house models, credited with five years of work and more than twenty-seven optimisation iterations. It advertises facial similarity above 90%, described as twenty per cent higher than open-source models, and optimisation for more than sixteen difficult scenes: natural occlusion such as glasses, a fringe or a beard, artificial occlusion by a hand, profile, high-angle, low-angle and lying-down shots, closed eyes, open mouths and tongues, awkward lighting, camera shake and unprocessed footage. Up to six faces can be swapped in the same video, through an optimised facial clustering algorithm.
Output is supported in 1080P, and the claims around resolution and speed are not consistent across the site: the About page announces 4K as coming soon while the home page already advertises “4K HD Face Swap”, and one minute of video is processed in ten seconds according to the home page, nine seconds according to the About page. The company claims to have served more than 200 million users, and the home page cites over 5,000 user ratings.
Beyond face swapping, DeepSwap generates video from an image, from a text prompt or from a reference, and extends an existing clip, using the DeepVid 2.0 and 3.0 and the DeepEcho 1.0, 1.0 Lite, 2.0 and 2.0 Fast models in 720P or 1080P, with or without audio. Separate tools erase backgrounds, enhance images and convert photos to anime. The same processing can be called through an API, whose credits are bought online but whose full configuration stays on the web version after sign-in.
The displayed workflow is three steps — upload, add a face, download — with the advice that front-facing, sharp and unobstructed faces give the best results. The interface exists in eight languages, a Discord community and a Telegram channel are linked, and the About page pledges that no facial data is used for training.

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Open deepswap.ai and sign up with an email address and a verification code, or with a Google or Facebook account
- Choose the module you need: Face Swap, VR Face Swap, Video Generator or AI Tools
- Step one on screen: upload the video, photo or GIF you want to modify
- Step two on screen: add the face you want to insert
- Select every detected face that belongs to the same person, otherwise the model may treat them as separate people
- Start the generation: around ten seconds of processing for one minute of video
- Step three on screen: preview the result, then download it
- Save the file locally straight away, since creations are only kept for one week
- Buy credits or PRO access from the pricing page to lift the limits
- For programmatic use, buy API credits, configure access from the web version and track usage in the credit history
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Broad media coverage: video, photo, GIF and VR, plus a generative video engine and three image tools

Cons
- No public price: the pricing page displays neither amount nor currency without an account, as prices are rendered in JavaScript after sign-in
- No free plan and no free trial announced anywhere on the site
- The site contradicts itself on the product: “4K HD Face Swap” on the home page against “4K Face Swapping Coming Soon” on the About page, and ten seconds against nine seconds for the same processing speed
- The home page states that “No data is collected”, while the privacy policy lists photos, videos, facial features, email address, usage data and device data
- Terms and privacy policy unchanged since 11 November 2021, although the product has evolved considerably since then
- No legal entity name, no postal address and no legal notice page, and an irrevocable, sublicensable licence granted to the publisher over uploaded content
- Short retention, no refund on cryptocurrency payments, no published security certification such as SOC 2 or ISO, no data processing agreement and no Article 27 EU representative
Pricing & Plans
No price is published. The pricing page renders its amounts in JavaScript once the user is signed in, and no figure appears in the HTML of the thirteen pages examined, so neither a starting price nor a currency can be reported here. The commercial model combines PRO access, offered monthly or annually, with credit packages bought separately. No permanently free plan and no free trial are announced; the terms state only that creating an account gives access with limited features for non-subscribers. A recurring banner offers 50% off DeepSwap Premium, again without figures. Payment is accepted by credit or debit card and by cryptocurrency, and the terms grant a refund within 14 days provided no credit has been consumed since the last payment.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how DeepSwap handles your data.
GDPR overview
The privacy policy and the terms are both dated 11 November 2021. Section 8, “European Privacy Rights”, grants EU residents the additional rights of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, and section 7 spells out access, portability in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, rectification and withdrawal of consent; section 8.3 confirms the right to complain to a national supervisory authority. Section 5.2 states that the application is maintained in Ireland and that data may be transferred to and accessed from Ireland, the EU and other jurisdictions, while 5.3 covers transfers outside the EU by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where applicable, or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. The minimum age is 18 for EU residents and the GDPR contact is feedback@deepswap.ai. No data protection officer is named, no Article 27 EU representative is designated and no data processing agreement is published.
Who owns the data?
Under section 3.1 of the terms, the publisher keeps every right in the application, its technology and its software, while you retain your intellectual property rights in the materials and content you upload and in the content you create. Section 3.2 qualifies that ownership: you grant the publisher an irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable and assignable licence to use uploaded content in order to provide the functionality of the app, and you may choose to make uploaded content public, in which case any other user may use it. You must warrant that you hold the rights to whatever you upload. The privacy policy (6.1) allows disclosure to affiliates, subcontractors, an acquirer in a merger or sale, and judicial authorities.
Reuse rights
Created content remains your intellectual property under section 3.1, so no permission is needed to reuse it, and the site mentions neither an imposed watermark nor any restriction on commercial use. The limits sit elsewhere. Section 3.2 makes you warrant that creating or altering the media infringes no third-party right, whether intellectual property, privacy or likeness, and section 4.2 forbids unlawful, pornographic or harassing content as well as any use of another person's personal information without their consent. The privacy policy (7.4) adds that sharing your content on social networks is at your own risk, since the publisher does not control what third parties then do with it.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
The privacy policy (5.1) states that the photos, GIFs and videos uploaded as material for face editing are stored on remote servers located in Ireland, and exclusively during use of the service. Section 5.2 adds that the application is maintained in Ireland and that data may be stored, processed, transferred to and accessed from Ireland, the European Union and other jurisdictions, and it warns that data stored in Ireland may be subject to requests from local courts or authorities. Section 5.3 covers transfers outside the EU through the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where applicable, or the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission. A network check adds a nuance the site does not declare: the domain resolves to 216.150.1.1, on Amazon's AS16509 anycast network geolocated in the United States, which reflects the delivery infrastructure rather than the storage location stated in the policy.

Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting DeepSwap.
- Likeness rights: section 4.2.e of the terms forbids content carrying a third party's personal information without their consent, and section 3.2 makes the user warrant they hold the rights, so the legal exposure of a face swap rests on the user, not the publisher
- The licence granted over uploaded content is irrevocable, worldwide, sublicensable and assignable, and content can be made public, in which case every other user may reuse it
- The home page states that “No data is collected”, while the privacy policy describes the collection of photos, GIFs, videos, facial features, email address, usage data and device data: the two statements are left to the reader to reconcile
- The terms and the privacy policy have not been revised since 11 November 2021, and no company name, postal address or legal notice page is published
- Prices are invisible before sign-in, not every subscription auto-renews depending on the payment method, cryptocurrency payments are never refunded, and a Google Play refund must be requested within 48 hours
- Retention is short: creations are erased after one week, and one week after a subscription expires, so anything of value must be downloaded immediately
- Misuse is a live risk: robots.txt excludes landing pages named /landing/deepfakeporn, /landing/deepnudeporn and /landing/deepnude, content can be flagged as inappropriate and blocked with no appeal procedure described, and no security certification, data processing agreement, Article 27 representative or data protection officer is published
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Getting started is easy. There is nothing to install: DeepSwap runs in a browser, and the displayed path has three steps, upload, add a face, download. An account is mandatory, created with an email address and a verification code or through Google or Facebook, and mobile applications are distributed through the App Store and Google Play. No video-editing skills are required. The only technical route is the API, whose credits are bought online but whose full configuration is completed from the web version after sign-in. For good results, use front-facing, sharp and unobstructed faces.

Should you pick DeepSwap?
DeepSwap is a consumer-facing face swap tool that has grown into something broader: video, photo, GIF and VR face swapping, a generative video engine and three image utilities, all in a single browser tab. Its strengths are coverage and speed — one minute of video handled in about ten seconds, up to six faces in one clip, proprietary models credited with more than 90% facial similarity — alongside an explicit pledge not to train on users' facial data, Irish hosting and one-click deletion.
The weaknesses are just as visible. Nothing commercial can be seen before creating an account: the pricing page renders its amounts in JavaScript, so neither a starting price nor a currency can be quoted, and no free plan or free trial is announced. The terms and the privacy policy still carry their original date of 11 November 2021 and describe a mobile application, while the product is now a wide web service. No legal entity, postal address or legal notice appears on the site, and several public claims contradict each other: 4K, processing speed, and a “No data is collected” line on the home page against a privacy policy listing photos, videos, facial features, email address, usage and device data. Those inconsistencies are worth weighing before committing.
Face swapping is a sensitive use in itself. It engages likeness and privacy rights, and the terms place that responsibility on the user, who in return grants the publisher an irrevocable and sublicensable licence over whatever is uploaded.
For content creators, marketing teams and video production work that needs fast, convincing face replacement, DeepSwap is a credible option, provided results are downloaded promptly given the one-week retention. For an organisation that needs a processing agreement, a certification, a team workspace or a published price, it is not.
