Overview

What is Knowly?

Knowly is a proactive second brain built by AInteract PTE. LTD. Its argument is that most AI executes the work your brain has already decided on, whereas a chat assistant can only answer what you already know to ask. Knowly inverts that relationship: it proposes, you choose.

The product is organised as a single guided journey in five stages. First read happens while you browse: a Digest for me button flips any page into a version written for you, with no prompt and no configuration. Connections happens the moment you save: a page, a PDF, a video or a tweet is captured in one click, and Knowly maps it into your library by meaning, so topics build themselves and reshape as you save rather than being filed into folders. Deep dive turns a cluster of sources into a Flow, a guided multi-page journey written at your depth, made of GenPages generated from your own material. Exploration adds GenLink: click any highlighted word and a new page spawns on that concept on the fly. Insight runs while you are logged off, producing Thoughts when Knowly finds a connection or a tension worth your time.

Underneath sits a personalisation model that watches what you save, read, linger on and explore, building a sense of your interests, taste and level so that proactive suggestions do not become noise. The terms describe the service more soberly, as an experimental tool that learns from your browsing activity with your permission and browses the internet on your behalf to produce personalised digests, with outputs that are automated and not guaranteed accurate.

Knowly runs as a Chrome extension paired with a web app. It is in early access: the extension is at version 0.0.20, was updated on 7 July 2026 and reports 461 users. Use is restricted by the terms to personal, non-commercial purposes, and there is no API, no mobile app and no named third-party integration.

What it does

  • Save any page, PDF, video, article, research paper or tweet to your library in one click
  • Turn the page you are reading into a digest written for your level, with no prompt and no setup
  • Let the library organise itself by meaning, with topics that form and reshape as you save
  • Build a Flow, a guided multi-page learning journey assembled from your own sources
  • Generate a GenPage written from your sources at the depth you actually need
  • Branch sideways with GenLink: click a highlighted word and a new page spawns on that concept
  • Collect Thoughts, the connections, tensions and questions Knowly surfaces while you are away

  • Developers who need an API, webhooks or a documented integration layer, none of which exist

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Knowly handles your data.

GDPR overview

Knowly claims compliance with the principles of the GDPR and the CCPA, and the terms state the privacy policy was designed to comply with the GDPR. Concretely, the policy dated 23 April 2026 lists access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection, withdrawal of consent and non-discrimination, and extends these rights to every user rather than to EU residents alone. It commits to honouring do-not-track and global privacy control signals where the law requires it, and names Singapore's PDPC alongside EU and US authorities among breach-notification recipients. What is absent matters as much: no Article 27 EU representative, no named DPO, no published DPA, no subprocessor list, no article-by-article legal basis and no mention of standard contractual clauses. The single privacy contact is an email address.

Who owns the data?

AInteract PTE. LTD. claims no ownership over what you put into Knowly. The terms state that you retain all rights in your personal data, browsing information and content, and that the company makes no ownership claim over the digests generated for you, owning only the underlying technology. You grant it a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, process, reproduce and modify your data solely to provide and improve the service; deleting content or your account revokes it, though backups may persist briefly. Feedback is the exception, used freely and without compensation. The privacy policy adds that data is never sold and never used to train AI models.

Reuse rights

You may reuse your own material freely. It remains yours, and the digests, generated pages and summaries Knowly produces are described as being for your personal use, with no ownership claimed over them. The limit is commercial rather than technical: the licence to use the service is personal and non-commercial, and reselling or redistributing any part of it, including digests produced for someone else's commercial benefit, requires written permission. Third-party material summarised through Knowly stays the property of its owners, and the terms hand you the responsibility of respecting the conditions of the source sites, including those that forbid scraping or summarising.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Knowly keeps personal information only as long as needed for the purposes set out in its policy or as required by law, with the duration depending on the type of data. No figure is published anywhere, however: not a number of days, not a number of months. Account information is kept while the account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion, in case of reactivation or for legal compliance. The company says it reviews what it holds periodically and deletes or anonymises what is no longer needed. A deletion request erases your information from active systems unless a legal obligation requires keeping it. The terms add that backup copies may survive for a limited time and that, after termination, stored data may become inaccessible to you.

Hosting summary

No hosting country or region is disclosed anywhere on the site: not in the privacy policy, not in the terms, and there is no trust or security page. The policy states only that information will be treated securely and in accordance with the policy regardless of where it is processed, which permits transfers without naming a destination. The publisher, AInteract PTE. LTD., carries a Singaporean private-limited form, and the breach-notification clause names Singapore's PDPC alongside EU and US authorities, which indicates jurisdiction rather than storage location. The domain resolves to an anycast node in the United States, describing the delivery front and not where data is kept. On security, the policy commits to TLS in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive data, role-based access controls, firewalls, intrusion detection and periodic audits. No DPA, no subprocessor list and no standard contractual clauses are published.

Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Knowly.

  • Delegating understanding: a tool that digests on your behalf can quietly erode deep reading and recall, and the site itself concedes that understanding cannot be delegated
  • Permanent proactivity, with Thoughts arriving while you are away, can turn a learning tool into one more stream competing for your attention
  • Deep personalisation of interests, taste and level risks building a comfort bubble that surfaces what pleases you rather than what challenges you
  • The extension learns from your browsing activity with your permission: measure the breadth of that access before granting it
  • Outputs are automated and the terms do not guarantee their accuracy, so you remain responsible for verifying anything you act on
  • The terms push onto you the duty of respecting source sites' conditions, including those that forbid scraping or summarising
  • Depending on an early-access service whose free tier can be modified or discontinued at any time, from a vendor with no published address or governing jurisdiction
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low. Setting Knowly up means creating an account and installing a Chrome extension, a one-click install of about 5 MB. Nothing needs configuring afterwards: no prompt to write, no folders to build and no tags to maintain, since the product explicitly promises no prompt and no setup. The only decision deserving thought is granting the extension access to your browsing data, which the terms present as a condition of the service working as intended. There is no API, webhook or developer configuration to handle.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a credit in Knowly?
A credit is the unit that powers everything you do: saving, digesting, generating Flows and GenPages, and chatting. Different actions cost different amounts, and a full Flow costs considerably more than a quick save.
What is the Founding Member Bonus?
While Knowly is in early access, every plan comes with bonus credits matching its monthly allowance, granted on activation. The site's own example: subscribe to Plus and your first period starts with 60,000 credits, the 30,000 allowance plus a 30,000 bonus.
What happens if I run out of credits?
Your saved sources and your library stay intact. You simply cannot generate new Flows or GenPages until your next billing period or until you upgrade, and Knowly says it warns you before you reach zero.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
At any time, from inside Knowly. Upgrades apply immediately with a prorated charge, downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period, and a cancelled plan stays active until that period ends.
Do unused monthly credits carry over?
No. Credits reset on your billing date, the same calendar day each month from when you started your plan, and unused monthly credits do not roll over into the next period.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. The privacy policy states plainly that the company does not use your data to train any AI models, and that it will never sell your personal information to a third party.
Is there a mobile app or an API?
Neither was found. Knowly ships as a Chrome extension paired with a web app; there is no iOS or Android application, no API documentation and no developer page anywhere on the site.
Can I use Knowly for work?
Not under the current terms. The service is offered for personal, non-commercial use only, and organisations wanting something comparable are told to contact the company for an appropriate licence.
What is the minimum age?
Thirteen. The privacy policy states the service is not intended for children under 13, or a higher local age of digital consent where one applies, and the terms require parental consent below that threshold.
Conclusion

Should you pick Knowly?

Knowly makes an unusually clear promise for an early-access product: rather than executing tasks on command, it goes first. Save what you find, and it digests, connects and returns to you with Thoughts you did not ask for. The vocabulary is coherent from end to end, the five-stage journey is easy to follow, and the pricing page is among the more legible of its category, with four tiers, a genuinely permanent free plan and a Founding Member bonus that doubles credits for now.

Its data posture is a real strength. The vendor states it does not train AI models on customer data, does not sell personal information, leaves you the ownership of both your material and the digests generated for you, and extends GDPR and CCPA rights to every user rather than to EU residents alone.

The counterweight is maturity. This is a young product from a barely documented publisher: extension version 0.0.20, 461 users, one review. There is no postal address, no about page, no contact page and a single email; the terms still carry unfilled placeholders where the governing jurisdiction and the billing currency should be; no hosting country, DPA or subprocessor list is published. The tool is also deliberately narrow, restricted by its own terms to personal, non-commercial use, with no API, no integrations and Chrome as the only browser.

For a curious individual reader who wants a library that organises itself and a system that suggests the next step, Knowly is worth the free plan and costs little to test at 9.99 USD. For anyone needing contractual guarantees, portability or team use, it is too early. The quality of the digests and Flows, which is the whole bet, cannot be judged from the public pages alone.
