Overview

What is Sider AI?

Sider AI is a browser extension that opens a persistent AI sidebar on top of whatever page you are already reading. Instead of sending you to a separate chat window, it works on the tab in front of you: you ask about the article, the PDF or the YouTube video currently open, and the answer arrives beside it.

The product is organised around three named parts. Chat is the comprehension layer. It brings GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek and GLM into a single panel, lets you switch model in one click, and can put the same question to several models at once so their answers can be compared. It summarises pages, PDFs, videos and search results, explains highlighted text from the context menu, and translates pages in a side-by-side bilingual view across more than fifty languages.

Claw is the agent layer. Built on OpenClaw, it takes a task described in plain words and carries it out across real websites using the sessions you are already logged into. Every step stays visible as it happens, and the output is a table, a report, a draft or a file rather than another pile of open tabs. Code is the customisation layer: describe a change to any website in ordinary language, watch the page update in real time, and the change is kept for your next visit.

Around those three sits a wider suite. Wisebase is a private knowledge base that ingests captured pages, pasted URLs and uploaded documents, then lets you chat across several files at once, with deep research, scholar research and a maths solver alongside it. A Create suite handles image generation and editing, background removal, upscaling, inpainting, video generation and slides. Separate translators cover text, images and PDFs, and there is audio-to-text, read-aloud and a meeting note taker.

Sider AI runs as a Chrome and Edge extension, a web app, desktop apps for macOS and Windows, and iOS and Android apps, all on one account. The publisher is Vidline Inc., based in Medford, Massachusetts. The interface is offered in 51 languages. There is no public API.

What it does

  • Summarise any web page, PDF, document or YouTube video without leaving the tab
  • Question several frontier AI models at once and compare their answers side by side
  • Translate whole pages in a bilingual side-by-side view, plus text, images and PDFs
  • Hand a multi-site research, comparison or extraction task to a browser agent and get a file back
  • Rewrite how any website looks and behaves using plain-language instructions that persist
  • Build a private knowledge base from captured pages and uploaded files, then chat across them
  • Generate and edit images, produce videos and slides, and transcribe audio

When to use Sider AI / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Sider AI is the right fit.

When to use Sider AI

  • Students and researchers who read long articles, papers and PDFs and want them summarised, explained and stored in a searchable personal knowledge base
  • Knowledge workers who live in the browser and want several frontier models available side by side without opening another tab
  • Translators, localisers and anyone reading in a second language, thanks to bilingual page view and translation across text, images and PDFs
  • Analysts and marketers who need repetitive multi-site research, comparison and extraction handed off to an agent that returns a table rather than links
  • Writers, editors and content teams looking for drafting, rewriting, proofreading and image generation inside the page they are already working on

When not to use Sider AI

  • Organisations bound by sector-specific regulation: the terms state the services are not designed for HIPAA or FISMA compliance and should not be used where it is required
  • Developers who need programmatic access, since there is no public API and no developer documentation
  • Buyers who must confirm a budget before signing up, because no price is published in the page source
  • Privacy-sensitive teams needing a data processing agreement, a subprocessor list or a named EU representative, none of which the site provides
  • Anyone under 13, who is excluded by the privacy policy

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Several frontier models under one subscription, switchable in a click and comparable side by side
  • Works inside the page you are on, removing tab-switching and copy-paste from the loop
  • Unusually broad feature coverage for a single tool, from reading and writing to images, video, agents and a knowledge base
  • A genuine permanent free tier, documented as 30 basic credits per day with a 10 MB file limit
  • 51 interface languages and translation across more than fifty, in a bilingual reading view
  • One account across Chrome, Edge, macOS, Windows, iOS, Android and the web
  • Ownership of generated content and commercial use are affirmed in the terms, and three product pages state that user data is never used to train models

Cons

  • No price is published in the page source: the grid is fetched by API at display time and is missing from the live page and from archived copies alike
  • The terms and the privacy policy contradict each other on who owns generated content — full user ownership on one side, joint copyright on the other
  • Account and communication data are kept for 99 years
  • No data processing agreement, no subprocessor list and no EU Article 27 representative
  • No hosting country or region is declared anywhere on the site
  • No public API and no developer documentation, so nothing can be integrated programmatically
  • A single support channel with a stated response time of three to seven business days
Pricing

Pricing & Plans

A permanent free plan is available. The Wisebase documentation describes it as thirty basic credits per day, a ten-megabyte limit per file, basic file analysis and chat, and essential note-taking. A three-day free trial of the Plus plan is offered in addition, cancellable at any time. Paid tiers exist in both monthly and annual form. No entry price can be quoted: the pricing grid is loaded by an API call when the page is displayed and is present neither in the live page source nor in archived copies of it, so the lowest paid price point is not publicly verifiable.

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Sider AI handles your data.

GDPR overview

The privacy policy states an explicit commitment to GDPR compliance and lists the rights available to EEA residents: access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection and restriction of processing. Those rights are exercised through a single channel, the care@sider.ai address given in the Contact Us section. Beyond that declaration, the usual formalities are absent. No EU representative is designated under Article 27, no data protection officer is named, no data processing agreement is published or offered on request, and no subprocessor list exists — third-party providers are only named in open-ended prose as "such as Google, Cloudflare, and Microsoft". No hosting country or region is declared anywhere. The policy is dated 5 March 2025.

Who owns the data?

The terms of use are explicit: you retain ownership of the AI-generated content you receive and are granted full rights to use, modify, distribute and commercialise it, including reproduction, commercial sharing, publication and derivative works, without attribution to Vidline Inc. The company states it claims no ownership over content generated from your inputs alone. The privacy policy, however, describes something different for the same content: a joint copyright shared between you, Sider.AI and third-party providers such as Stability, OpenAI and Claude, where no co-owner may license or transfer the work without the others' written consent. The two documents contradict each other and the discrepancy is unresolved.

Reuse rights

Under the terms of use, yes. You may reuse generated content without asking permission: the licence granted covers commercial reproduction and sharing, publication, incorporation into derivative works, and use without crediting the publisher. The pricing page repeats the point with a plain "Commercial Use Allowed" line. You remain solely responsible for holding the rights to whatever you submit and for ensuring the output breaks no law and infringes nobody's rights. Two limits deserve attention. The privacy policy's joint-copyright clause would, if it prevails over the terms, forbid licensing or transferring that content to a third party without the other co-owners' written consent. And the same clause reserves an internal right for Sider.AI to use generated content for research, product improvement and demonstration.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Retention depends on the type of data. Account information is kept for 99 years after the account is closed, and communication records for 99 years from the date of the last exchange; the publisher gives dispute resolution, tax and accounting obligations and audit trails as the reason. Usage and analytics data are treated very differently and kept for three months only, after which they are anonymised or deleted. Users keep direct control over uploaded content: files added to ChatPDF can be deleted at any time, and recordings made by the meeting note taker are private by default, with the user deciding what to keep, share or delete. These rules come from the privacy policy dated 5 March 2025.

Hosting summary

Sider AI declares no hosting location. Neither the privacy policy, nor the terms of use, nor any trust or security page names a country, a region or a data centre where user data is stored, and there is no statement about international transfers or the safeguards applied to them. The only infrastructure signal available is indirect: Cloudflare is named among the third-party providers, and the domain resolves to a Cloudflare anycast node, which carries no geographic meaning since the same address answers from many locations. What the policy does describe is protection rather than place: enterprise-grade encryption, a protected cloud storage system for uploaded files, and physical, technical and administrative safeguards including firewalls, access controls and staff training. Users keep the ability to delete their files at any time. Anyone who needs to know the jurisdiction their data sits in will have to ask the publisher directly, as the site does not answer the question.

Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Sider AI.

  • The terms and the privacy policy disagree on ownership of generated content: full user rights in one, joint copyright with the publisher and third-party model providers in the other. Check before commercialising anything important
  • The Claw agent operates using the sessions you are already logged into, which means it acts with your own access to your own accounts — worth measuring that scope before delegating a task
  • Account and communication data are retained for 99 years, far beyond what most services keep
  • Advertising cookies for Google and Microsoft, plus affiliate tracking cookies, are described as active
  • No price is verifiable before signing up, which makes it easy to commit to a subscription without having compared it to anything
  • Leaning on instant summaries for everything you read is a genuine way to stop reading closely; the convenience and the erosion of attention arrive together
  • Audience figures are inconsistent between pages — over ten million active users on the main site, 500,000 on one SEO landing page — so treat marketing claims with caution
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low. Installation is a one-click add from the Chrome Web Store or the Edge add-ons store, which the site puts at under thirty seconds, and the sidebar opens from the toolbar icon on any page. No configuration, no scripts, no userscript manager and no DOM inspection are required — the absence of that work is one of the arguments made for the Code feature. An account is needed for most functions, and a single account then syncs across the extension, web, desktop and mobile apps.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Sider AI?
A browser extension that opens an AI sidebar on any page you visit. It is organised around three parts — Chat to understand content, Claw to automate browser tasks, and Code to customise how a website looks and behaves — with a wider suite of knowledge base, image, video and translation tools around them.
Which AI models can I use?
Sider AI brings GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek and GLM into a single side panel. You can switch model in one click, and a group chat mode lets you send one question to several models and compare the answers.
Is there a free version?
Yes. A permanent free plan gives 30 basic credits per day, a 10 MB limit per file, basic file analysis and chat, and essential note-taking. A separate three-day free trial of the Plus plan is also offered and can be cancelled at any time.
How much do the paid plans cost?
That cannot be stated from the site. Sider AI loads its pricing grid through an API call when the page is displayed, so no amount appears in the page source or in archived copies. You have to open the pricing page in a browser to see the current figures.
Can it summarise PDFs and YouTube videos?
Yes. It summarises web pages, PDFs, office documents, YouTube videos and search results, and answers follow-up questions about them. Paid tiers raise the file limit to 100 MB and 2,000 pages, with OCR for scanned PDFs.
Is my data used to train AI models?
The site says no, in three places: the ChatPDF documentation states that files are not used for AI model training, Wisebase states that data is never shared or used for training, and the meeting note taker states that no data is used to train AI models.
Which devices and browsers does it support?
It runs as a Chrome and Edge extension, as a web app, as desktop applications for macOS and Windows, and as iOS and Android apps. One account covers all of them, and the interface is available in 51 languages.
Is there an API for developers?
No. There is no public API and no developer documentation on the site; the only API is internal to the product and is blocked to crawlers by the robots file.
How long is my data kept?
Account information is kept for 99 years after the account is closed, and communication records for 99 years from the last exchange. Usage and analytics data are kept for three months, then anonymised or deleted.
How do I contact support?
Through the contact form or by writing to care@sider.ai. The site asks for three to seven business days for a reply, and points to the help centre and community forum for faster answers.
Conclusion

Should you pick Sider AI?

Sider AI is one of the broadest browser assistants available, and its breadth is the point. Bringing GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok and DeepSeek into a single sidebar, with a comparison mode across them, removes most of the friction of moving between chat tools; adding an agent that operates on real sites with your own sessions, a customisation layer that rewrites pages on request, and a private knowledge base makes it closer to a workbench than to a chat window. For students, researchers, writers and anyone whose work is mostly reading in a browser, the free tier alone is substantial, and the claim that user data is never used for model training is stated on three separate product pages rather than buried once in a policy.

The reservations are real and mostly documentary. The pricing grid never appears in the page source, so no entry price can be verified without opening the site and signing in — an awkward position for a product this widely used. More seriously, the terms of use and the privacy policy give opposite answers on who owns generated content: full ownership by the user in one, joint copyright shared with the publisher and third-party model providers in the other. Retention of ninety-nine years on account and communication data is unusual by any standard, and the compliance apparatus that professional buyers expect — a data processing agreement, a subprocessor list, an EU Article 27 representative, a declared hosting jurisdiction — is entirely absent, as is any public API.

For individual use, a capable and generous tool. For regulated or procurement-driven contexts, several questions would need answering first.
