Slazzer
Slazzer is an AI image editor that removes and replaces photo backgrounds in roughly five seconds, then upscales, enhances, relights or restores the result. It runs on the web, desktop, mobile, design plugins and a REST API.
What is Slazzer?
Slazzer is an AI photo-editing service built around one core task: detecting the subject of an image and stripping the background away. It advertises a clean cut-out in about five seconds, including on the edges that usually break automated tools, such as hair, fur and fine detail. The site groups its examples by subject type, showing people, products, cars, animals, graphics and real-estate shots.
Around that core the product has grown into a wider AI toolkit. AI Background removes or generates a new scene, AI Upscale raises resolution by 2x or 4x, AI Enhance adjusts brightness, contrast and detail, AI Shadow adds a realistic drop shadow, AI Re-Lighting relights the subject, AI Sky Replacement swaps a dull sky, and AI De-oldify restores and colourises old or black-and-white photographs. Three workflow modules — grocery, food and furniture cataloguing — target the repetitive product photography that retailers deal with in bulk.
Access is deliberately broad. On the website, previews up to 0.25 megapixel are free and unlimited; full-resolution downloads up to 25 megapixels are paid for in credits. Uploads accept JPG, JPEG and PNG up to 12 MB, and anything larger than 25 megapixels is resized automatically. A built-in editor adds erase and restore brushes, blur, and colour or image backgrounds. Beyond the browser there are desktop applications for Windows, Mac and Linux built for drag-and-dropping thousands of files, Android and iOS apps, a Photoshop extension from CC 2018 onwards, Figma and Sketch plugins, and a documented REST API that handles up to 500 images per minute with rate limits raised on request. An On-Premise edition runs the models inside a customer's own infrastructure, needing an NVIDIA GPU with at least 16 GB of vRAM.
The interface is offered in twelve languages. Slazzer is published by Netflairs Technology Private Limited, a company incorporated in Kolkata, India in 2016; the product itself has been online since 2019.

When to use Slazzer / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Slazzer is the right fit.
When to use Slazzer
- Online sellers and e-commerce teams that need clean, consistent product cut-outs across a whole catalogue.
- Photographers who want to upscale, relight and retouch shoots without opening a full editing suite.
- Marketing and social teams producing on-brand campaign visuals at volume and under deadline.
- Developers automating image processing, who can call the REST API at up to 500 images per minute.
- Car dealerships, estate agents and food or grocery brands cataloguing large inventories of photos.
When not to use Slazzer
- Anyone wanting a free tool for commercial work: the free tier is restricted to non-commercial use.
- Teams that must keep data inside the EU, since Slazzer hosts everything on servers in India.
- Buyers who need a signed DPA or a published sub-processor list before onboarding a vendor.
- Video editors: Slazzer works on still images only, in JPG, JPEG or PNG up to 12 MB and 25 megapixels.
- Users needing bulk processing straight from the website, which handles a single image at a time.
How to use Slazzer
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Open the Slazzer website; no account is needed to try the background remover.
- Upload a photo by dragging it in, using the Upload button, or pasting it with Ctrl+V.
- Accept the Terms of Service, which uploading implies; the page is protected by reCAPTCHA.
- Wait a few seconds while the AI detects the subject and returns a transparent cut-out.
- Review the result as a free, unlimited low-resolution preview.
- Refine it in the built-in editor: set a colour or image background, blur, or use the erase and restore brushes.
- Apply further AI tools if needed, such as upscale, enhance, shadow, relight, sky replacement or de-oldify.
- Create a free account to download at full resolution; signing up grants 2 free credits.
- Buy credits through a Top-up or a monthly subscription, paid by card via Paddle.
- For volume, install the Windows, Mac or Linux app for batch runs, or integrate the REST API.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Unlimited free previews on the website, with no account required to test quality
- A permanent free plan with 2 credits, not just a time-limited trial
- Unusually wide reach for this type of tool: web, desktop, mobile, design plugins, API and On-Premise
- Steeply tiered pricing, from €0.61 down to €0.04 per image as volume rises
- Unused subscription credits roll over up to six times the monthly quota, and Top-up credits last two years
- A 14-day money-back guarantee on subscriptions, with upgrades, downgrades and cancellation at any time
- Content sent through the API is not stored, and training can be switched off in account settings
Cons
- Free use is contractually non-commercial; commercial work needs a Top-up or a plan of at least 300 credits
- All data is hosted in India, with no EU residency option
- Training on customer content is on by default, leaving the opt-out to the user
- No Data Processing Agreement, no published sub-processor list and no security certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001
- The legal documents are inconsistent: the Terms name a different operator and the DMCA agent is a third-party company
- The minimum age contradicts itself, 18 in the privacy policy against 13 in the general terms
- The website processes one image at a time; batches require the desktop apps or the API
Pricing & Plans
Slazzer offers a permanent free plan that grants 2 credits on sign-up together with unlimited free previews on the website. Paid access is sold in credits, where one full-resolution image costs one credit. The lowest recurring price point is the entry subscription at €11.24 per month for 100 credits, quoted excluding VAT. A cheaper one-off option exists outside the subscription range: a Top-up of 10 credits at €6.13, VAT included. Volume pricing falls sharply, reaching €0.04 per image at the highest tiers, and an Enterprise plan covering 100,000 or more images per year is quoted on request.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Slazzer handles your data.
GDPR overview
Slazzer claims GDPR compliance explicitly and repeatedly, stating on its pricing FAQ that it is "100% GDPR compliant" and on its enterprise page that it is "fully GDPR compliant". The privacy policy backs this with concrete mentions: the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses cover transfers and are available on request, Binding Corporate Rules are claimed, and the usual rights of access, copy, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and withdrawal of consent are listed, with privacy@slazzer.com as the contact. The claim should still be read with care: servers sit in India, no Article 27 EU representative is named, no Data Processing Agreement is offered, and no sub-processor list is published.
Who owns the data?
Slazzer states plainly that it claims no ownership over user content. Uploading, however, grants the company a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive licence that is also sub-licensable and transferable, covering hosting, reproduction, modification, publication and derivative works, and limited by contract to operating the service. Users must warrant they hold every right to the images they submit. Separately, data that has been anonymised or aggregated falls outside that limit: Slazzer claims a perpetual right to use it for any business purpose and to share it with affiliates and business partners. Ownership therefore stays with the user, while the licence granted is unusually broad.
Reuse rights
Users keep their images and may reuse the results without asking permission, but the licence they hold depends on what they pay for. The Terms of Service confine free use to strictly non-commercial purposes; commercial use requires a Top-up purchase or a subscription of at least 300 credits per month. In the other direction, the General Terms and Conditions let Slazzer use customer content to improve, train and develop its products by default, with an opt-out available at any time in account settings. On the website a separate Improvement Program is opt-in image by image, with explicit "Contribute" and "Don't contribute" choices that can be remembered. Content sent through the API is not stored at all.

Hosting summary
Slazzer states in its privacy policy that its servers are located in India, and that is the only hosting location disclosed. Users accessing the service from elsewhere are told their information may be transferred to, stored in and processed at those Indian facilities, and by the third parties the company works with. For transfers originating in the EEA or the United Kingdom, Slazzer invokes the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, which it says it can provide on request, and also claims a set of Binding Corporate Rules. It says all data transmissions are encrypted and that its servers follow industry-standard security practices. No alternative region is offered, so there is no way to keep data inside the EU, and no sub-processor list is published. Content submitted through the API is a stated exception: it is not stored at all.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Slazzer.
- The Terms of Service name Canva Austria GmbH as the operator, not Slazzer's actual publisher, and the DMCA agent in the general terms is a French company unrelated to the Indian editor. Both documents appear to be templates reused without editing, which weakens their contractual value.
- The privacy policy claims Binding Corporate Rules recognised by EEA and UK authorities. That is a heavy, rarely granted status for a company of this size and is supported by nothing on the site; treat it as unverified.
- Training on your uploads is enabled by default under the general terms. The opt-out is real but buried in account settings, so anyone who never looks will be contributing content indefinitely.
- The minimum age is stated as 18 in the privacy policy and 13 in the general terms. Parents and schools cannot rely on either figure.
- Free use is non-commercial by contract. It is easy to build a workflow on the free tier and only discover the restriction once the work is already commercial.
- Prices display in euros while the payment module shows a dollar sign, so the amount actually charged may depend on your region and differ from the published table.
- Automating cut-outs at scale removes a human check on image quality and on what is being published; unusual subjects still fail, and nobody reviews an unattended batch.
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low for most users. The website needs no installation: upload an image and the cut-out appears, with an account required only to download at full resolution. Desktop and mobile apps install normally, and the Photoshop extension works from CC 2018 onwards alongside Figma and Sketch plugins. Developers face a light integration, a single multipart form-data call per image, and Zapier covers no-code automation to over 2,000 apps. Only the On-Premise edition is genuinely technical, requiring an NVIDIA GPU with at least 16 GB of vRAM and 24 GB recommended.

Should you pick Slazzer?
Slazzer is a focused tool that has grown carefully. Background removal remains the core, and it is handled well, but the surrounding toolkit — upscaling, enhancement, shadows, relighting, sky replacement, restoration and bulk cataloguing — turns it into a general-purpose AI photo editor rather than a single-trick utility. What sets it apart from most competitors is reach: the same engine is available through a browser, desktop applications for three operating systems, mobile apps, Photoshop, Figma and Sketch plugins, a documented REST API, and an On-Premise edition for teams that cannot send images off site.
The commercial model is clear. Credits are easy to reason about, the free previews let anyone judge quality before paying, and the per-image cost falls steeply with volume. The restriction that matters most is contractual rather than technical: free use is limited to non-commercial purposes, and commercial work requires a Top-up or a subscription of at least 300 credits.
The governance side is weaker. All data is hosted in India with no EU option, training on customer content is enabled by default with the opt-out left to the user, and there is no DPA, no sub-processor list and no published security certification. The legal pages compound the doubt: the Terms of Service name a different company as operator and the DMCA agent belongs to an unrelated French business, both signs of templates reused without editing. The stated age limit contradicts itself as well.
For individuals, marketers and e-commerce teams judging the tool on output and price, Slazzer is a strong, well-priced option. For organisations with procurement or data-residency requirements, the paperwork will need scrutiny before the quality of the cut-outs becomes the deciding factor.
