Overview

What is On-Page.ai?

On-Page.ai is an SEO platform built around a single idea: rather than scoring a page against generic best practices, it compares it directly with the pages Google already ranks for the keyword you care about. You enter a target keyword, optionally the URL you want to improve, and the scanner returns the terms and entities your page is missing, the Google category your term belongs to, the internal links worth adding and a prioritized list of fixes. The vendor calls this Triple Ranking Technology and says it pairs Google's own natural-language processing with in-house models; its crawler separates main content from sidebars, headers, footers and advertising, so recommendations apply to the text that actually counts.

Several modules sit around that scanner. The AI Optimizer, included in every plan, grades a page on title, intent, sourceability, quotability, freshness, authority and visual first impression. Auto-Optimize inserts related entities into a draft in one click. Link Relevancy rates the contextual relevance of inbound links, Predictive Guest Post scores a guest article before it goes live, the Topical Keyword tool maps a keyword to a category and suggests aligned subjects, and an experimental AI-detection scanner flags machine-written pages across a site.

The second half of the product is the Stealth Writer, an article generator now in version 5. It researches a topic online before writing, can crawl your own site to fold your business into the text, produces articles averaging over 3,500 words with a generated image, checks each one against the vendor's own AI detector and ships with a WordPress plugin for bulk publishing.

A third surface, on a separate subdomain, exposes the same analysis as a REST API and an MCP server: four endpoints covering standard, lite and deep scans plus classification into 1,091 categories, asynchronous jobs, webhooks, 27 Google SERP regions and eight MCP tools that Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or n8n can call directly. The vendor is explicit about the boundary: this is not a rank tracker, a backlink index or a keyword-volume provider.

What it does

  • Score a page against the results currently ranking on Google for a keyword
  • Surface the entities, terms and headings a page is missing
  • Generate long-form researched articles with the Stealth Writer
  • Rewrite and auto-optimize existing copy by injecting related entities
  • Measure the contextual relevance of inbound and internal links
  • Predict the SEO value of a guest post before publishing it
  • Detect AI-written pages across a whole site or in a single document

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how On-Page.ai handles your data.

GDPR overview

There is no mention of the GDPR anywhere on the site. None of the four legal documents uses the word: neither the suite's terms and privacy policy from January 2023, nor the API's terms and privacy policy from April 2026. That is silence rather than refusal, since the vendor neither claims compliance nor denies it. Some adjacent material exists. The suite's policy warns that data may be transferred to countries without protection equivalent to the European Economic Area, and the API policy promises unnamed appropriate safeguards for international transfers. The API side lists rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and consent withdrawal, exercised through privacy@on-page.ai. The suite, by contrast, charges an administration fee for a data-access request and asks for a certified passport copy. No DPA, no Article 27 EU representative and no data protection officer are published.

Who owns the data?

Ownership depends on which contract applies. The API terms of April 2026 state that you keep ownership of anything you submit and grant On-Page only a limited licence to process it while delivering the service; the vendor explicitly disclaims ownership of your content and will not train models on it without your consent. The suite's terms, unchanged since January 2023, are far broader: submitting content grants LanPublications a worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, translate and distribute it in any existing or future medium, with the right to sub-license. Deleting your account triggers automatic deletion of the stored data.

Reuse rights

The two contracts diverge here as well. Material published by On-Page itself may only be streamed for personal use: you must not resell access, share it through a group buy, sub-license it, reproduce it for commercial purposes, or download and resell the training videos. On the API side you may not resell or redistribute API access without authorization, nor reverse-engineer the service. Nothing restricts what you do with the scan reports and articles the tool produces for you: publishing them on your own or a client's site is the advertised purpose, and the WordPress plugin exists for exactly that. Systematic scraping of the On-Page site itself requires written consent.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Retention rules are published only for the API platform, in the policy dated 5 April 2026. Request logs are kept for 90 days. Content submitted for analysis, meaning page text, URLs and keywords, is processed in real time and not stored beyond the request, except for cached results kept up to 24 hours for performance. Account data is retained for as long as the account stays active. On the suite side, the January 2023 policy gives no duration at all; it states only that deleting your account automatically deletes the associated data, and that users can view, change and remove their data. Separately, purchased API credits expire twelve months after they are granted and monthly plan credits after 33 days, which is a billing rule rather than a retention rule.

Hosting summary

The API privacy policy of April 2026 is the only document that locates the infrastructure, and it does so loosely: hosting and compute providers are said to run servers in North America and Europe, with no country, no provider and no region-selection option named. It adds that data may be processed in countries other than your own, under unspecified appropriate safeguards for those transfers. The suite's older policy says only that personal data sits on secure, firewall-protected servers, and warns separately that information may be transferred to countries without protections equivalent to those in force in the European Economic Area. Outside the vendor's own statements, the domain resolves to an OVH address located in Montreal, Canada, which is consistent with the declared Montreal headquarters but is a network observation, not a hosting commitment. No data-residency choice, no regional isolation and no sub-processor page are offered.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting On-Page.ai.

  • Publishing generated articles at volume can flood a site with text nobody has actually read, and the vendor's own AI detector is described as experimental, so the safety net is not guaranteed
  • The Stealth framing markets content engineered to pass AI detection; using it to misrepresent authorship carries editorial and reputational risk that no tool absorbs for you
  • Leaning on an automated ranking score can quietly erode the habit of judging whether a page is genuinely useful to a human reader
  • The suite's terms grant a worldwide, irrevocable, sub-licensable licence over the content you submit, a clause worth reading before uploading client material
  • Requesting your own data under the suite's privacy policy costs an administration fee and a certified passport copy, which makes exercising that right deliberately expensive
  • The refund guarantee shrinks by USD 30 per Stealth article and disappears entirely on Stealth plans, so the money-back promise is narrower than the homepage suggests
  • A live legal page carries a visible internal marker, legal-review, final wording pending counsel review, on the clause waiving EU and UK withdrawal rights
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Low for the web interface. Nothing is installed: you register free of charge, activate a plan and run a first scan from the browser on any operating system. Live training, recorded replays and a help centre are provided, and the vendor offers to train a team at no cost. The API asks a little more: a bearer key, an asynchronous job pattern of submit, poll and fetch, plus optional webhooks. The MCP server is the easiest route for anyone already working in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or n8n, with a one-click install after signing in.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I use On-Page.ai for my clients?
Yes. The vendor states the suite is designed to help search professionals improve the rankings of both their own sites and their clients', and several plans are sized explicitly for agencies handling two to ten clients.
Does it work with WordPress and e-commerce platforms?
Yes. The FAQ names WordPress, Shopify and BigCommerce, and adds that anything online can be optimized. A WordPress plugin handles bulk publishing of generated articles.
Is there a free plan?
No permanent free plan is published. You can register at no cost and without a card to look inside, and new API accounts receive starter credits, but the cheapest paid suite plan is USD 129 per month.
Which languages are supported?
On-page scanning covers English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Portuguese, Chinese and Korean. Categorization, link relevancy, topical keyword search and predictive guest post are English-only.
Is there an API?
Yes, on a separate subdomain: a REST API with four endpoints and an MCP server exposing eight tools, billed in credits and documented publicly, including the report schema and rate limits.
Is my content used to train models?
The API documents dated April 2026 state that no training happens without explicit opt-in consent. The suite's own privacy policy, last updated in January 2023, says nothing about model training at all.
How long is my data kept?
The API keeps request logs for 90 days, caches results for up to 24 hours and holds account data while the account is active. Deleting the account deletes the stored data.
What is the refund policy?
Seven days on the suite, minus USD 30 for each Stealth article created, with Stealth article plans excluded entirely. On the API side refunds are granted at the vendor's discretion, typically within seven days of purchase.
Who is behind the tool?
The terms name LanPublications as the company operating On-Page.ai. The careers page places the headquarters in Montreal, Canada, and the homepage credits SEO practitioner Eric Lancheres as the creator.
Is there a mobile app?
No. The product runs entirely in the browser, the vendor states there is nothing to download, and no App Store or Google Play listing was found.
Conclusion

Should you pick On-Page.ai?

On-Page.ai is a working, well-documented product rather than a promise. Nine priced plans are published in the open, the API and MCP server come with a named report schema, per-action credit costs and published rate limits, a help centre covers seventeen product areas, and the domain has been live and continuously archived since 2021. The positioning is unusually frank for the category: the vendor states plainly that this is not a rank tracker, not a backlink index and not a keyword-volume source, but a tool that compares one page with the pages already winning its keyword and says what to change.

The weak point is everything around the product. There is no postal address, no legal-notice page and no register reference. The operating company appears as LanPublications in the suite's terms, as Lan Publications in the help-centre footer, and not at all in the API's own legal documents. Those documents themselves split in two: the API side was rewritten in April 2026 with concrete retention periods and a consent-gated training clause, while the suite still runs on policies from January 2023 that charge a fee and demand a certified passport copy for a data-access request. Nothing on the site mentions the GDPR, and no data processing agreement or EU representative is offered.

For an agency or a solo publisher optimizing and producing content in volume, the tool earns its USD 129 monthly entry point and the price ladder above it. For a regulated organization, or for anyone who needs contractual guarantees on data handling, the paperwork is not yet where the software is, and that gap is worth settling with the vendor before signing.
