GDPR overview

Ovren names itself data controller under both the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, and its privacy policy, version 1.0 dated 3 April 2026, gives concrete detail: four lawful bases, namely contract, legitimate interests, consent for analytics cookies and legal obligation; the categories of data collected; a named subprocessor table with countries; rights of access, correction, deletion and access revocation; and a Data Processing Agreement available on request from legal@ovren.ai. Data-related enquiries go to that address, while rights requests are routed to support@ovren.ai. Two gaps remain. No Article 27 EU representative and no data protection officer is designated, and the controller has no published legal identity, since registered name, address and company number are promised only once incorporation completes. The site never writes the words GDPR compliant: it applies the regulation without claiming conformity.

Who owns the data?

Ovren's terms are explicit on ownership. You keep all rights to your source code, repository content and anything else you connect to the platform, and Ovren receives only a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to access, process and analyse that content for the sole purpose of running the service. Code produced by the AI engineers is assigned to you, and Ovren makes no ownership claim over outputs generated from your repositories, though it gives no warranty that they are original or free from third-party rights.
