GDPR overview
GDPR is named, but the implementation reads as templated. The privacy policy and terms, both effective 23 October 2024, cite Regulation (EU) 2016/679 in their definitions, and TRANSKRIPTOR INC. declares itself the data controller. The list of rights is complete: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, objection to automated decision-making including profiling, and withdrawal of consent, all exercised through support@transkriptor.com, with the option to complain to the competent supervisory authority. Legal bases are stated: contract performance for account creation, legitimate interests for several purposes, consent for direct marketing. EEA residents under 16 are barred from using the app. The gaps matter: no Article 27 EU representative is named, no DPO is identified, no DPA is offered, and the definition of Data Protection Laws refers to the GDPR being effective in Belgium, a leftover from a legal template.
Who owns the data?
You keep ownership in principle. The terms require you to own your Input and hold the rights to it, and Input plus Output together form User Content for which you alone are responsible; Eskritor does not endorse, verify or control it. Reuse rights
On your side, reuse is broadly open: the Pro plan lists commercial rights among its inclusions, and you decide what to publish, subject to two warnings in the terms, that output may not be unique and must not be passed off as written solely by a human. On the publisher's side, collection is wide. The privacy policy lists name, job title, profession, email and phone, postcode and preferences, IP address, browser, operating system, postal address, usage data and correspondence, plus device name, in-app purchase history, notification token ID, IDFA and IDFV, and explicitly microphone recordings and audio input, texts, scanned documents, uploaded files, graphics and any content created or shared through Eskritor.
