What goes in is deliberately broad. Mindgrasp accepts PDFs, DOCX files, MP3 and MP4, PowerPoint decks, images, article links, YouTube and Vimeo URLs, and it will record a lecture live from the browser or the iOS app. The pitch rests on cognitive science rather than novelty: active recall through flashcards, practice testing through quizzes, spaced repetition through revisitable notes, and self-explanation through the tutor.
The company claims more than five million users, 1,500 schools and universities, 128 countries and two million study sessions created, and displays university logos from Princeton, Stanford, MIT, Yale and Cambridge among others. GDPR overview
Mindgrasp claims GDPR compliance in as many words, saying it is already compliant with the regulation alongside California's consumer protection laws, and it grants the expected rights: to know, access, correct, transfer, restrict processing of and delete personal data. Requests go to support@mindgrasp.ai, with a response promised within seven days in most cases, and the grounds for refusing one are set out openly. Beyond the claim, implementation is thin. No Article 27 representative is designated, although the company states it operates only in the United States, which is precisely the situation that article addresses. No data protection officer is named, no international transfer mechanism is described, and the policy carries neither an effective date nor a revision date. Children under 16 need verifiable parental consent.
Who owns the data?
The terms say nothing about who owns the material users upload, and that silence is the notable gap. Mindgrasp reserves rights over its own service content, including text, design, logos, graphics and cover images, and forbids copying, redistribution and scraping of it, but never states who owns an uploaded lecture or the notes generated from it. On personal data the position is clearer: each user's information is said to be kept separately, and users are granted rights to know, access, correct, transfer, restrict the processing of and delete it. Sharing is limited to instructed service providers, to partners only with prior consent, and to legally compelled disclosures or a merger.
Reuse rights
Users may not reuse Mindgrasp's own content: the terms prohibit modifying, copying, distributing, downloading, scraping or transmitting any part of the service's material. Material a user brings in is treated differently, and no clause restricts what they then do with the notes, summaries, flashcards or quizzes generated from it, so ordinary study and professional reuse is unimpeded. On its own side, Mindgrasp collects account, contact, payment, fraud-prevention and usage data, and uses it to run the service, communicate, prevent fraud, personalise the experience and comply with law. It screens uploads for illegal content. It states it will never share information with a third-party partner without prior consent, and that it does not use profiling to determine service levels. Whether uploaded content is used to train AI models is never addressed.

Hosting summary
Mindgrasp does not disclose where user data is hosted. No country and no region is named anywhere on the site, there is no trust or security page, no data processing agreement and no list of subprocessors. The privacy policy refers to service providers only in generic terms, naming Google Analytics as an analytics provider and stating that providers are bound by Mindgrasp's instructions and must delete or return data once a request is fulfilled. The company does state that it currently operates only in the United States, which makes United States hosting probable, but this is an inference and not a documented commitment. One technical detail should not be misread: the domain resolves to a CloudFront edge node in Zurich, Switzerland. That is a content delivery point of presence, and says nothing about where data is actually stored. Anyone with data residency obligations will need to ask the vendor directly.
