What is Resemble AI?
Resemble AI is a multimodal AI security platform whose central job is to tell whether a piece of media was made by a machine. It detects synthetic audio, video and images in real time, returns a deterministic score with a plain-language explanation, and adds two adjacent capabilities: imperceptible watermarking for content you generate yourself, and biometric voice verification for identity.
The route to this problem was unusual. Zohaib Ahmed and Saqib Muhammad founded Resemble in 2019 to build generative voice for game studios, where voice work could not keep pace with release cycles. Going deep on how synthetic speech is actually produced turned out to be the company's real asset, and it shipped its first deepfake detector the same year. The argument it makes today is that understanding generation is the shortest path to detection.
Five products sit on proprietary models trained in-house rather than fine-tuned from someone else's. Resemble Detect handles audio, video and image detection; Intelligence explains each verdict; Watermarker embeds PerTh multimodal marks; Identity enrols and authenticates a voice; Meetings watches live calls on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Webex. A sixth component, Signal, raises an alert when content matches a known fraud pattern without recording anything.
The flagship model, DETECT-World, is presented as the first world-model architecture applied to detection: alongside pattern matching it checks whether content behaves like physical reality, testing lighting, motion and continuity, which is how it claims coverage of generators it has never seen. Resemble reports 99.5% accuracy on audio, 98.2% on video and 95.8% on images, against more than 250 generative models and 54 languages validated on MLAADv10.
Access runs from a single REST API and a Python SDK through 72 named integrations to a Chrome extension anyone can install. Deployment spans managed cloud, private VPC, on-premises containers and fully air-gapped installs. Named customers and partners include Deutsche Telekom, Telnyx, Okta and Umanitek. Typical uses are contact-centre fraud, KYC onboarding, claim and document verification, executive impersonation, law-enforcement forensics and platform trust and safety.

GDPR overview
Resemble AI states GDPR compliance explicitly on both its homepage and its trust centre, and backs the claim with concrete artefacts. A Data Protection Officer is named under Article 37, Zohaib Ahmed, reachable at zohaib@resemble.ai, and a published data breach policy commits to notifying the supervisory authority within 72 hours under Article 33 and affected individuals under Article 34. The privacy policy sets out EU and UK rights in detail: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent and the right to lodge a complaint. The lawful bases cited are consent, contractual necessity and legitimate interests. Transfers to the United States rely on standard contractual clauses inside a data processing agreement, which is published. The minimum age is 16. One gap is worth naming: no Article 27 EU representative is designated anywhere on the site.
Who owns the data?
The terms of service leave ownership of submitted content with the customer; Resemble AI takes only the licence it needs to run the service, and that licence can be revoked in writing. Two technical guarantees sit behind the contract language. Zero Retention Mode deletes submitted media permanently once analysis finishes, so no Resemble staff member or system can ever view it. Air-gapped and on-premises installations go further: the containerised software runs inside the customer's own data centre with no outbound connections, so no media leaves the customer's environment at all. The privacy policy was last updated on 10 May 2024 and last reviewed on 1 January 2026.
Reuse rights
Media you submit for analysis is not stored and is not used to train Resemble AI's models without your explicit consent, and Zero Retention Mode removes it entirely once a verdict is returned. The detection output is yours to reuse, quote or file as evidence without asking permission. Account data is a separate matter: the privacy policy states that the company collects identifiers, payment details handled by Stripe, device and IP data, web analytics, social-network data, professional data such as job title, employer and team size, and IP-based geolocation. It reuses these to deliver and improve the service, to market it, to correspond with users, to bill and to prevent fraud. Google Analytics is in use and can be opted out of. The subprocessors that touch this data, among them Anthropic, Apollo, Calendly, Cerebrium, Cloudflare, Figma, Fireflies, GitHub and Gleap, are listed publicly in the trust centre.

Hosting summary
On the managed cloud, Resemble AI states that its services are hosted and operated in the United States and that personal data sits on US servers. Transfers into that jurisdiction are covered by standard contractual clauses inside a data processing agreement. No other country or region is named. Customers who cannot accept US hosting have three documented alternatives: an on-premises install in their own data centre, which is containerised, air-gap capable and needs no outbound internet; a private cloud deployment inside their own AWS, GCP or Azure VPC; or a hybrid split that keeps sensitive workloads on-premises while using the cloud for volume. All three are enterprise options. The company publishes its subprocessor list in its trust centre: Cloudflare fronts the website for CDN, DNS and DDoS protection, and Cerebrium runs production model inference on serverless GPU infrastructure. A 99.9% uptime SLA is advertised for the managed cloud. Note that the domain resolves behind Cloudflare's anycast network, so the server location visible from outside says nothing about where data actually rests.

- Detection is probabilistic, not proof. Published accuracy runs from 95.8% to 99.5% depending on the modality, which still leaves confident-looking mistakes in both directions on individual files
- The image and video accuracy figures are internal, and the site itself notes that external validation is still in progress, so treat them as vendor claims until independent benchmarks land
- A verdict can become an accusation. Acting on a flag against a colleague, a claimant or a source without corroboration risks real harm to a real person on the strength of a score
- Certification language on the homepage runs ahead of the trust centre: SOC 2 Type II was still in its observation period and ISO 27001 was expected rather than held at the time of review
- Personal data on the managed cloud is stored in the United States and no Article 27 EU representative is designated, which is a point to raise with legal counsel before processing European data
- Usage is metered per second, per image and per call on every tier, so an automated pipeline can generate a bill far above the headline subscription
- Leaning on automated verification can erode the habit of checking provenance by hand; the tool is a filter for human judgement, not a substitute for it
