Overview

What is Scalenut?

Scalenut is a Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) platform: its stated goal is to grow a brand's visibility, authority and traffic across both classic search and AI-driven discovery channels. It is published by Scalenut Technologies Private Limited, an Indian company incorporated on 20 August 2020 and headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana, founded by Mayank Jain, Gaurav Goyal and Saurabh Wadhawan. The company's first product was a talent marketplace launched in December 2020; the SaaS MVP followed around September 2021 and opened to the public in January 2022.

The product revolves around a GEO Action Center that groups the content modules together: Article Writer with Cruise Mode, Content Optimizer, Keyword Planner, Content Audit and Link Manager. Around it sit AI Visibility for prompt and citation tracking, Social UpReach for Reddit, a Backlinks Marketplace, OnPage Pro, an AI Detector & Humanizer, a Traffic Analyzer, NLP terms and an AI Copywriter bundling more than 40 short-form tools. Which AI engines you can actually monitor depends on your plan: the home page FAQ advertises ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Grok, while the pricing table only grants ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, with Perplexity reserved for the Professional tier.

Scalenut is sold two ways. You either run the software yourself, or you buy the VIP Service, a managed engagement with a dedicated senior strategist, a team of writers and editors, and seven AI agents. The publisher describes its engine as a swarm of specialized agents, covering Strategy, Content, AI Visibility, Authority, Reddit and Publishing, supervised by a human who validates before anything goes live.

A Chrome extension extends the web app to Google Docs, Facebook, Quora, Gmail, LinkedIn and Twitter; an official WordPress plugin is published on wordpress.org; and a set of free public SEO tools covers 301 redirect checking, CSS, HTML and JavaScript minification, keyword density, hreflang, PageSpeed and keyword clustering.

The limits are just as explicit: the software handles English only, there is no public API and no mobile application. Audience claims deserve caution, since the home page announces 1 million+ users while three other pages state 100,000+; the publisher also claims 5 million+ SEO blogs created, 150+ countries, a 4.8 rating and a G2 Summer 2022 Leader award.

Cons

  • Data hosting country undisclosed, no stated retention period, and no position at all on whether customer data trains AI models
  • No permanent free plan, no refund after the trial with the publisher free to decline any request, and mandatory arbitration before a sole arbitrator it appoints itself, seated in Haryana under Indian law
  • Only four named third-party integrations, audience figures that contradict each other from page to page, and a pricing FAQ still describing plans that no longer exist

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Scalenut handles your data.

GDPR overview

The privacy policy explicitly states that it complies with the GDPR in effect since 25 May 2018, and that any provision reading to the contrary is void from that date. It lists the rights granted: obtaining a copy of the personal data held, rectification, withdrawal of consent, objection to processing, lodging a complaint with a supervisory authority, and being informed about transfers to a third country or an international organization. Account holders can also request a restriction of use from within their account. Consent withdrawal, data download and deletion all go through wecare@scalenut.com. The gaps are just as concrete: no Article 27 EU representative is designated, no DPO is named, no DPA and no subprocessor list are published, and no transfer mechanism such as standard contractual clauses is described, even though the publisher is established in India under Indian law. Both legal documents are dated November 2020.

Who owns the data?

The terms state that content generated by users and displayed on the platform is not owned by Scalenut Technologies Private Limited, which also declines responsibility for it. In exchange, using the service grants the publisher permission to use, store and process your personal information and anything you post, including responses, locations, comments, reviews and ratings, for service personalization, marketing and promotion. The company remains the exclusive owner of the platform's own designs, graphics and trademarks. The privacy policy adds that personal information is never sold, licensed or traded, and is shared only on your instruction or under legal obligation, with one exception: user data may go to affiliates that sent leads, under a data sharing agreement.

Reuse rights

Because the terms say the company does not own user-generated content, nothing in the documents requires you to ask permission before reusing what you produce on the platform. On the publisher's side, the privacy policy declares four purposes: delivering the service, internal record keeping, service improvement and legal obligations. The data collected covers account identifiers, name, phone number, email and payment details, plus IP address, device ID, referring and destination URLs, browser information and usage analytics; browsing behavior and page views are also recorded for visitors who never sign up. Contact details are used to send offers based on your interests and past activity. For advertising, Scalenut runs remarketing through cookies and non-cookie technologies and shares hashed email addresses with third-party providers, Google Ads being the only one named, with opt-out routed to NAI, DAA and Google's own settings. Nothing anywhere states whether customer data is used to train AI models, and no exclusion option is documented. Withdrawing consent, and with it deletion, goes through the unsubscribe link or an email to wecare@scalenut.com.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
No retention period is stated in figures anywhere in the published documents. The privacy policy sets out a principle only: personal information is retained only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes identified. Deletion, data download and consent withdrawal are all handled by writing to wecare@scalenut.com. The publisher warns that it may keep some information despite a deletion request, in order to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems or enforce its terms. When a deletion is carried out, it states that the removal extends to stored backup systems. Two practical limits are worth noting: the email address and mobile number cannot be changed after sign-up, and the publisher indicates it may not keep a history of previously modified values.
GDPR contact

Hosting summary

Scalenut publishes nothing about where customer data is stored. No hosting country, no region, no infrastructure provider and no data center location appears in any of the documents collected, and no subprocessor list is published. The privacy policy links to an information security policy hosted on Notion, and states that the company uses security techniques and follows generally accepted standards without naming a single one; it also acknowledges that no security system is impenetrable and that the company cannot guarantee the security of its database. Technically the site is served behind Cloudflare on an anycast address, which says nothing about where the data itself is stored. Since the publisher is incorporated in India with its registered office in Gurugram, and the terms are governed by Indian law, Indian jurisdiction is the reasonable working assumption, but it remains an assumption rather than a published commitment. European buyers should note that no transfer mechanism is described anywhere, even though the privacy policy claims GDPR compliance.

Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Scalenut.

  • The terms and the privacy policy are dated November 2020 and have never been updated; the terms still describe a managed marketplace for content writing, graphic design and web development, a leftover from the publisher's first product
  • No refund after the trial, and the publisher can decline a refund request at its own discretion
  • Disputes go to arbitration before a sole arbitrator appointed by the publisher itself, seated in Haryana under Indian law
  • The publisher can terminate an account at any time, without notice and without reason, and can interrupt the service without notice
  • Audience claims contradict each other from one page to the next: 1 million+ users on the home page against 100,000+ on three other pages
  • The contracting entity in the terms, Scalenut Technologies Private Limited, differs from the Scalenut Inc. shown in the footer, whose copyright line is frozen at 2023, and the pricing FAQ still lists Individual, Growth and Pro plans that no longer exist
  • More AI engines are advertised in the FAQ than are reachable in the plans, promotional prices sit next to list prices behind a countdown, and user data may be shared with affiliates that sent leads
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low. Scalenut is a web application: you create an account online, start the 7-day trial without a credit card, and set up one workspace per domain. Integrations are connected from within the account in a few clicks, according to the publisher. The Chrome extension has to be installed separately from the Chrome Web Store, and the WordPress plugin is optional. No development skill is required and there is no API to integrate. Onboarding support is claimed to include one-to-one sessions, videos and webinars, a free Bootcamp and a stocked help center.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does Generative Engine Optimization mean at Scalenut?
The publisher uses GEO to describe optimizing a brand's visibility both in classic search results and in the answers produced by generative engines. The platform is built around that dual objective, combining traditional SEO work with tracking of how the brand shows up in AI-generated answers.
Which AI engines does Scalenut actually track?
The home page FAQ mentions ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Grok. The pricing table is narrower: Starter and Plus give access to ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity appears only on the Professional tier. Gemini, Claude and Grok are not listed in any tier.
Is there a free plan or a free trial?
There is no permanent free plan. Scalenut offers a 7-day free trial that requires no credit card and stops at the end of the period. A set of standalone SEO tools remains free to use without an account, but they do not amount to a plan.
How much does Scalenut cost?
Three paid tiers at list price: Starter at USD 59 per month, Plus at USD 89 and Professional at USD 199. The VIP managed service is quoted on request. Annual billing is presented as significantly cheaper, and a temporary 60% promotion was displayed at the time of review.
Can I change or cancel my plan, and can I get a refund?
Plans can be changed or cancelled at any time. Unused credits are deducted from the next invoice and the service stays active until the end of the billing cycle. No refund is granted after the trial period, and the publisher reserves the right to decline any refund request.
Which languages does Scalenut support?
English only. The publisher states that the software currently caters solely to the English language, and presents multilingual support as something still to come rather than available today.
Does Scalenut offer an API or a mobile app?
Neither. No API documentation exists on the site or in the help center, and there is no iOS or Android application. A Chrome extension is available and works on Google Docs, Gmail, LinkedIn, Facebook, Quora and Twitter, with rewrite, complete and simplify functions.
Which tools does Scalenut integrate with?
Four integrations are named: WordPress, Semrush, Copyscape and Shopify. An official WordPress plugin is also published on wordpress.org, and articles can be auto-published to WordPress and Shopify from the Plus tier upwards.
Is my data used to train AI models, and where is it hosted?
Neither the terms nor the privacy policy addresses the training of AI models on customer data, and no opt-out is documented. The hosting location is not disclosed either: no country, region, infrastructure provider or data center appears in the published documents.
How long does it take to see results, and what support is available?
The publisher indicates that initial traction usually appears within 60 to 90 days, that Google positions compound between month 3 and month 6, and that AI visibility can move faster. Support runs through email and chat, with live chat advertised as available 24/7 on the contact page and a dedicated CSM on the Professional tier.
Conclusion

Should you pick Scalenut?

Scalenut is a mature tool within its functional perimeter, and its coverage is genuinely rare for a single subscription: keyword research, writing, optimization, auditing, internal linking, backlinks, Reddit monitoring and AI detection all sit behind one login. The GEO positioning is not a marketing repaint of SEO, since prompt tracking, brand mentions and citations inside AI engines are actually tooled, even if the engines you can reach depend on your tier. The strongest point is the choice it leaves you: run the software yourself, or hand execution to a managed team, without changing platform.

The structural weakness lies elsewhere. The contractual documentation has not followed the product: the terms and the privacy policy are dated November 2020 and still describe a marketplace for copywriting, graphic design and web development that Scalenut no longer sells. Compliance transparency is thin, with no DPA, no subprocessor list, no disclosed hosting country and no stated position on whether customer data trains AI models, even though the privacy policy claims GDPR compliance. English-only support and the absence of a public API further narrow the audience to English-speaking marketing teams that do not need custom integrations.

For a founder, a small marketing team or an agency running several English-language domains, Scalenut is a serious candidate, especially at trial stage where nothing is committed. For a European organization buying at company level, human verification of the contractual commitments is recommended before purchase: ask for a DPA, ask where the data is hosted, and ask in writing whether customer content is used for model training. Those answers are not on the website.
