What is FlowGPT?

Finished boards can be cloned, exported as a plain text file, kept current through Cloud Sync, or published to the web as a link that lets anyone view, but never edit, the flow.
Under the hood the tool calls the OpenAI gpt-3.5-turbo API. Usage is metered in AI words, which count both the text you send and the text you receive. There is no monthly subscription: a free tier grants 20,000 AI words and five flow boards, and paid top-ups add more. A GPT-4 row appears in the pricing grid but has carried a soon badge since launch.

GDPR overview
Implementation is real but partial. The privacy policy, last updated on 15 March 2023, carries a dedicated GDPR section in which 42 Tech Limited declares itself the data controller, lists six legal bases (consent, performance of a contract, legal obligation, vital interests, public interest and legitimate interests) and enumerates the rights of access, rectification, objection, erasure, portability and withdrawal of consent, together with the right to complain to a supervisory authority. Two gaps stand out. No Article 27 EU representative is designated, although the company is established in the United Kingdom and therefore outside the Union. No data protection officer is named either: rights are exercised simply by contacting the company at its general address. No data processing agreement is offered and no subprocessor list is published.
Who owns the data?
42 Tech Limited, the Preston-based company behind FlowGPT, is named as the data controller under the GDPR. The personal data it collects is limited to an email address, a first name and usage data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and device identifiers. The documents are silent on who owns the content you generate inside a flow board, which is a notable gap for a tool built around authoring. They are explicit on one point, however: any feedback or suggestion you send the company is assigned to it outright, and should that assignment fail, you grant a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free worldwide licence to use, modify and sub-license it.
Reuse rights
The terms grant the user no explicit licence over generated output and say nothing about reusing it commercially. In practice the interface treats reuse as ordinary: any flow can be exported as a plain text file and published to the web through a public link, although that link is read-only and recipients cannot edit what they see. What the documents do spell out is the company's own reuse of personal data. It may be shared with service providers, affiliates, business partners and, in public areas of the service, with other users. The CCPA section goes further and states that identifiers, California customer records, commercial information, network activity and geolocation data may be sold. Feedback sent to the company becomes its property.
