Moonbeam is a web-based AI writing assistant published by Go Moonbeam LLC, a company registered in Cheyenne, Wyoming and founded by John Shahawy, who launched the first version on 15 July 2022. Its positioning is narrow and explicit: long-form content, meaning essays, stories, articles and blogs, rather than the short marketing copy most competitors target. A Custom Style Generator writes in the style of authors, comedians or public figures, and the publisher claims a built-in research tool that lets writers gather information and sources without leaving the platform. GDPR overview
The privacy policy is a Termly template marked "Last updated August 20, 2022" and has not been revised since. Section 3 addresses readers located in the EU or UK and names the legal bases relied on: consent, legitimate interests, legal obligations and vital interests. Section 10 lists rights of access, copy, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, plus the right to complain to a local supervisory authority, with links to the EU list of authorities and to the Swiss federal commissioner. A Termly data subject request form is provided. Canadian and Californian sections follow. What is missing is explicit: no EU representative under Article 27, no named data protection officer, and no statement claiming compliance. The notice gives support@gomoonbeam.com and the Cheyenne postal address as its contact point.
Who owns the data?
Go Moonbeam LLC publishes no terms of service, so no document states who owns the text produced with the tool: /terms returns a 404 and /tos serves the body of the 404 page. The only legal document is the privacy policy, and it covers personal data rather than generated content. It lists names, email addresses, contact preferences, log and usage data, device data and location data, states that no sensitive information is processed and that no information is received from third parties, and notes that "All payment data is stored by Stripe." The single sharing scenario disclosed is a business transfer: merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition. Signing in through a social network can also pass on profile, email, friends list and photo.
Reuse rights
Because no terms of service are published, nothing on the site either grants or restricts commercial reuse of the text you generate. The product is nevertheless sold for material meant to be published: blog posts "intended for publication online", newsletters and commercial proposals, and a Public Drafts mode exists to share work openly ("Public Drafts: Share your drafts with the world and let your work speak for itself."). No licence, exclusivity or assignment clause appears anywhere, including in the privacy policy. In practice users act as owners of their output, but that position rests on the absence of a contract rather than on a written grant, which is worth weighing before building a commercial workflow on it.

Hosting summary
The site says nothing about where data is stored. The privacy policy names no hosting country and no region, there is no trust or security page, and no certification of any kind, such as SOC 2, ISO 27001 or HIPAA, is mentioned anywhere. The only third party named is Stripe, which stores payment data. Section 8 of the privacy policy limits itself to a generic statement: "We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process." The publisher, Go Moonbeam LLC, is registered in Cheyenne, Wyoming, which points to United States jurisdiction, but a place of registration is not a hosting disclosure.
