Overview

What is PopAi?

PopAi is an AI workspace built around one flagship job: turning source material into a presentation you can actually edit. Published by 01.AI PTE. LTD of Singapore, it accepts a plain prompt, a PDF, a Word document, a PPTX file or a web page, and returns a slide deck you refine in the browser, then export as PPTX or PDF or share by link.

What distinguishes the workflow is a deliberate split between structure and design. Before any slide is rendered, PopAi proposes an outline you can extend, rename, reorder or cut. Only once the story holds do you choose a template, at which point the tool lays out coordinated slides. That sequence gives more control than a single prompt box, and it exposes gaps and repetition while they are still cheap to fix.

Around the presentation maker sits a wider suite. AI ChatPDF handles document analysis, taking up to 20 files and 5,000 pages at once, with one-click summaries, mind maps, a Capture & Ask feature for charts and images, note-taking, and one-click PDF-to-PPT conversion. AI Writing covers long-form drafting and paraphrasing, while AI Chat, AI Image and AI Video complete the set. Four conversion utilities — PDF, Word, image and HTML to slides — are offered free. Generation can run live web searches, so a deck can pull in current information without you supplying any API key.

The models are third-party: the footer credits Claude Sonnet 5, Claude Opus 4.8, Gemini-3.6-flash, GPT-image-2 and GPT 5.6. You reach PopAi through a browser, an iOS app, an Android app or a Chrome extension, and the site is localised into eleven languages. A PopAi Academy publishes guides on planning and structuring slides, and a dedicated education programme adds a campus ambassador scheme and student discounts.

The vendor is unusually candid about limits, stating repeatedly that the output is an editable first draft and asking you to check facts, figures, quotations, names and dates before presenting. Two gaps are worth knowing up front: no pricing is published anywhere on the site, and the About link in the footer simply redirects to the home page.

What it does

  • Query up to 20 documents totalling 5,000 pages and get one-click summaries
  • Export finished decks to PPTX or PDF, or share them by link
  • Build a mind map from a PDF and turn a document into slides in one click
  • Draft long-form text, generate images and create video from a description

When not to use PopAi

  • Buyers who need to compare prices before signing up, since no rates are published anywhere on the site
  • Teams needing programmatic access: there is no public API and no developer documentation
  • Organisations requiring a signed DPA, a named subprocessor list or EU-only hosting, none of which exist here
  • Regulated or confidentiality-critical work, given the unresolved contradiction over model training

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Accepts an existing document as the starting point rather than only a prompt
  • The outline is editable before slides are generated, so structure can be fixed early
  • PPTX export stays genuinely editable elsewhere, alongside PDF and link sharing
  • One subscription covers presentations, document analysis, writing, images and video
  • High stated document capacity: 20 files and 5,000 pages in a single session
  • Available on web, iOS, Android and Chrome, with the site localised into eleven languages
  • Honest framing throughout: the site insists the output is a draft to verify, and the terms leave content ownership with you

Cons

  • No pricing page at all: rates are invisible until you create an account, and the /pricing route returns a 404
  • Terms, privacy policy and contact page render only in JavaScript, so they cannot be read without running scripts
  • Contradictory position on model training between the marketing FAQ and the privacy policy
  • No documented way to opt out of model training, no published DPA, no named subprocessors, no Article 27 representative
  • No security certification cited, and hosting is limited to the United States or Singapore with no EU option
  • Refunds without cause are refused outside the EEA and the United Kingdom, and accounts are capped at four devices
  • Play Store rating of 3.4 out of 5 across 1.68K reviews sits far below the 4.9 the site's own markup claims

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how PopAi handles your data.

GDPR overview

The word GDPR never appears in PopAi's documents, and compliance is nowhere claimed in so many words. The substance is partly there: a dedicated section for EEA, UK and Swiss users sets out three legal bases — performance of the contract, legitimate interests and consent — with a right to withdraw consent, and a rights section covers the right to know, access and portability, deletion and correction, exercised by emailing customerservice@popai.pro, with a right of appeal. A separate section addresses California's CPRA. What is missing matters as much: no Article 27 EU representative, no named data protection officer, no data processing agreement, no named subprocessors, and no transfer mechanism such as standard contractual clauses for the declared transfers to servers in the United States and Singapore. The publisher is established in Singapore, outside the EU.

Who owns the data?

The terms define your inputs and the generated outputs together as Your Content, and state plainly that you retain ownership of it. You are also responsible for it, including holding whatever rights and licences its use requires. PopAi keeps the right to block, remove or permanently delete Your Content if it breaches the terms or its policies. Ownership of the service itself does not transfer: 01.AI PTE. LTD and its providers retain all rights, titles, interests and intellectual property in the platform, and you receive only a personal, non-exclusive right to use it. Nothing in the terms grants you any stake in the underlying models or software.

Reuse rights

Because you keep ownership of both what you upload and what the tool generates, you may reuse your decks, documents and images without asking permission, commercially included, subject to the general requirement that the content be lawful and that you hold the rights to the material you fed in. The terms bar two specific reuses: extracting output to build products or models that compete with PopAi, and scraping or harvesting the service. On PopAi's own side, the privacy policy lists providing and improving the service, research, security, legal compliance and enforcement of the fair-usage rules, and it names affiliates plus categories of providers — LLM vendors, cloud, IT, email and analytics — as recipients. Note a genuine contradiction: the marketing FAQ says personal and business data is never used to train PopAi's models, while the privacy policy counts training its models among the legitimate interests that may process Content.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
PopAi keeps what you submit — personal data, images, graphics, text and other files — for only as long as it needs to provide the service, or for other legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes, safety and security, and meeting legal obligations. No fixed period is given and no purge schedule is published, so the effective duration is not knowable from the documents. You can ask for deletion under the rights section by emailing customerservice@popai.pro, and the Google Play data-safety entry confirms that deletion can be requested. Deleting an account is permanent and removes the entire private history, and it goes through support rather than a self-service button. One product-side clue: answers on documents more than three days old require a Pro subscription, which implies paid accounts retain documents beyond that window.

Hosting summary

The privacy policy states that personal data may be transferred to PopAi's servers in the United States or Singapore. No EU hosting option is offered and no region can be selected. PopAi commits to a standard of protection comparable to that of the user's own jurisdiction, but names no legal mechanism for the transfer — there is no reference to standard contractual clauses or any equivalent. Uploaded files are described as encrypted and securely stored, and the Google Play data-safety entry confirms encryption in transit; the site nonetheless advises against uploading documents containing highly sensitive personal information. Network checks place the site behind Amazon CloudFront, with assets served from Amazon S3 in the Singapore region. No security certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 is cited anywhere. Third-party processors are described only by category — LLM providers, cloud services, other IT services, email software and analytics — with none named and no subprocessor list published. The publisher is established in Singapore, so EU data protection law applies only through its extraterritorial reach.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting PopAi.

  • Prices are invisible before sign-up; the only figures available come from the App Store listing and may not match web rates
  • Subscriptions auto-renew on the stored payment method, and outside the EEA and UK there is no refund without cause once you have started using the service
  • Fair-usage rules cap accounts at four devices and can throttle you to four new presentations per three-hour window, with thresholds changeable at will
  • The unresolved conflict over model training means confidential documents should not be uploaded until the vendor confirms its position in writing
  • Leaning on generated decks erodes the work of structuring an argument yourself; the outline step is worth doing attentively rather than accepting
  • Generated slides can look authoritative while containing invented figures or citations, which is precisely why the vendor tells you to verify names, numbers and quotations
  • Social proof is unreliable here: home-page testimonials are unverifiable first-name-plus-initial entries, and the site's claimed 4.9 rating conflicts with the 3.4 recorded on Google Play
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low. Web use needs nothing beyond a browser and an account, which can be opened with Google or Apple sign-in, and the vendor states that no design skills are required. There is no configuration to complete and no API key to supply, since web search is built in. The guided outline step makes the first deck easy to produce. Optional extras add a little effort: installing the Chrome extension or the mobile apps, iOS 15.0 or later for a 92.6 MB download, and authorising connected apps such as Google Drive.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does PopAi actually do?
It generates an editable presentation from a prompt, a PDF, a Word document, a PPTX file or a web page. You review a proposed outline, choose a template, edit the resulting slides online, then export to PPTX or PDF or share a link. Alongside the presentation maker it bundles AI ChatPDF, AI Writing, AI Chat, AI Image and AI Video.
How much does PopAi cost?
There is a permanent free tier with daily quotas, plus basic trial credits for new accounts. No prices are published on the website itself. On the publisher's official Apple App Store listing, Pro starts at USD 4.99 weekly or USD 12.00 monthly, with quarterly at USD 30.00, yearly at USD 99.00, and Unlimited at USD 47.00 monthly. Apple prices may differ from web rates.
Can I start from a document I already have?
Yes. PDF, Word, PPTX and web pages are all accepted as source material, and the workflow is explicitly built for that case as much as for a blank start. For long or technical documents the vendor advises checking what was included or left out, and recross-checking important figures and citations against the original file.
Will my uploads be used to train the models?
The two sources disagree, and this is worth knowing. The marketing FAQ states that personal and business data is never used to train PopAi's AI models. The privacy policy, however, lists training its models among the legitimate interests that may involve processing your Content. No opt-out for training is documented. Treat the point as unresolved.
Where is my data hosted, and for how long?
The privacy policy states that personal data may be transferred to servers in the United States or Singapore, with no EU hosting option. Retention is described only as being as long as needed to provide the service or for legitimate purposes such as disputes, security and legal obligations; no fixed period is published. Deletion can be requested from customerservice@popai.pro.
Is there an API?
No. There is no public API and no developer documentation anywhere on the site, and none appears in any of PopAi's seven sitemaps. Integration is limited to the connected-apps panel, which covers Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and OneNote, Notion, Evernote, Obsidian and Zotero, though several of these appear to sit behind a waitlist.
What is the minimum age to use PopAi?
The terms of use set the minimum at 13 years old, and require parental or guardian permission for anyone below the age of majority where they live. Note the discrepancy: Apple's App Store rates the PopAi app 18+, while the Google Play listing carries a PEGI 3 rating.
Which platforms and languages are supported?
PopAi runs in the browser and offers an iOS app, an Android app and a Chrome extension. The website is localised into eleven languages: English, Arabic, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The iOS listing declares a narrower set of seven. Documents can be uploaded in one language and turned into a presentation in another.
Can I get a refund?
Only in part. Users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom may cancel within 14 days of purchase and claim a refund by contacting customerservice@popai.pro with their email address and subscription start date. Outside those territories the terms state you are not entitled to a refund without cause once you have paid and begun using the service.
Are there usage limits I should know about?
Yes. The terms declare accounts to be for personal use and reserve the right to monitor device counts. Above four devices, PopAi may impose restrictions, explicitly including a cap of four new presentations within any three-hour window. The thresholds may change at the vendor's discretion. Responses on documents older than three days require a Pro subscription.
Conclusion

Should you pick PopAi?

PopAi is strong where it counts. The core loop — source document to editable outline to exportable deck — is well judged, and putting the outline before the design gives users real control instead of a single take-it-or-leave-it generation. Document capacity is generous, PPTX export stays editable, and the surrounding suite of reading, writing, image and video tools makes one subscription go a long way. The vendor's repeated insistence that output is a first draft to be checked is more honest than most of this category manages.

The weaknesses are mostly about transparency rather than capability. No price appears anywhere on the site, the About link redirects to the home page, and the terms and privacy policy render only in JavaScript — a user cannot simply read what they are agreeing to. Data governance is thin for a European buyer: no DPA, no named subprocessors, no Article 27 representative, no security certification, and hosting confined to the United States or Singapore. Most seriously, the site contradicts itself on whether uploads train the models, and no training opt-out is documented. The 3.4 out of 5 Play Store average, against the 4.9 the site's own markup advertises, is another reason to keep expectations measured.

The reasonable verdict: an efficient, good-value drafting tool for presentations and document work, particularly for teachers, students, consultants and small teams without a designer. Before putting confidential or regulated material through it, get written answers on model training, retention and processing terms — and budget from the app-store rates, since the website will not tell you the price.
