What is Questas?
Questas is a web platform for building choose-your-own-adventure stories, branching narratives where every choice a reader makes opens a different path. The pitch is 'Create your own adventure', and the tool covers the whole chain: writing the scenes, illustrating them with AI, publishing the result and letting anyone play it in a browser.
The workspace is a visual tree editor. Scenes are nodes on a canvas, connected by edges that open the branches. The home page shows an example tree, The Snowy Mountain Mystery, whose start node fans out into a forest trail, a rocky shortcut, animal tracks, the main trail, an ice cave and a climb upward. Nodes can be selected, moved with the arrow keys and deleted from the keyboard, so the editor is not mouse-only. Media is the part that consumes credits. From a scene description, Questas generates an image for one credit or a video for five. New accounts receive five credits without a card, credits never expire, and no subscription is required to create; purchases run through Stripe in slider steps of 50 to 500 credits.
Finished adventures live at their own address under questas.co/adventure/, signed Made with Questas, with a narration toggle and a Share button for the reader. A public demo, Eli's Mountain Adventure, is playable without an account. Alongside it sits the Collection, a curated library of more than 200 community adventures, readable in full through a separate subscription of 20 USD per year that also includes 200 credits. Authors can submit their own work and earn credits and a hall-of-fame placing if it is selected.
The product is young. The domain was registered in October 2025, the first web archive capture dates from December 2025, and the pricing badge still reads '50% off for beta users'. The footer signs it simply 'Made by Charlie from Liinks', with no registered company shown.

GDPR overview
Questas never names the GDPR: the word appears nowhere on the site, and the company neither claims nor denies compliance. The privacy policy does grant seven rights, namely access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection, restriction and withdrawal of consent, but qualifies them with 'depending on your location' rather than anchoring them in any regulation. Rights are exercised by email to hello@questas.co, answered 'within a reasonable timeframe', with no figure attached. There is no Article 27 EU representative, no data protection officer, no stated legal basis, no published DPA and no named list of sub-processors, only four broad categories of providers. International transfers are acknowledged in general terms, with 'appropriate safeguards' asserted but no mechanism named. Security measures are described: encryption in transit and at rest, regular assessments, access controls. The policy carries no effective date and no last-updated date.
Who owns the data?
Under the terms of service, you keep all rights to your stories, narratives and user-generated content. In exchange you grant Questas a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute that content through the platform, which is a licence to run the service rather than a transfer of ownership. You are responsible for holding the rights to anything you upload. AI-generated media carries a separate reservation: images and videos created through Questas may be subject to the terms of its third-party AI providers, and you may not claim exclusive ownership of AI output substantially similar to what the same models produce for other users.
Reuse rights
You can reuse the stories, text and media you build in Questas without asking permission, with one reservation written into the terms: AI-generated images and videos cannot be claimed exclusively where they are substantially similar to output generated for other users. On the personal-data side, the privacy policy lists six categories collected, from name, email and authentication data to an optional profile, the content you create, usage data and support messages, plus billing handled by third-party processors. IP address, browser type, device information and usage patterns are gathered automatically through cookies. Eight purposes are stated, covering delivery and improvement of the platform, payments and account management, AI content generation, technical notifications, support, usage analytics, security and legal obligations. Questas states that it does not sell, trade or rent personal information, and shares it only with your consent, with service providers (AI, payment, cloud hosting, analytics), or where law, security or a business transfer requires it.
