Its stated position is unusual: it is not another school platform but a layer placed on top of the systems a school already runs. It connects to them, pulls the data automatically and turns it into indicators, warnings and documentation, while the school keeps every tool it had.
The catalogue runs to 28 modules across seven families. Dashboards give principals and administrators a live view of attendance, grades, alerts and trends. A pupil record called Elevkortet 360 gathers grades, attendance, student health cases, action programmes, adaptations, counsellor notes subject to permissions, career guidance sessions and screening results in one place. Specialist modules serve the student health team: case handling and structured documentation for meetings, a counsellor workspace with its own access layer, a special needs workspace with screening and before-and-after effect measurement, and reading and writing screening with AI analysis.
A great deal of the product is bound to Swedish statute. It watches attendance against the thresholds that govern CSN study grants, tracks compulsory school attendance against the Education Act, prepares documentation for reports to the school owner and social services, and runs systematic quality work on a six-step MTSS model. A module called Skolrätt AI offers legal checklists drawn from education, anti-discrimination and administrative law.
The intelligence rests on a risk engine that combines attendance, grades, student health history and wellbeing into a score per pupil. Elevium insists the calculation is inspectable rather than a black box: you can see which factors move the score and how they are weighted. The assistant, BITA, answers in Swedish, adapts to the user's role and permissions, and can be driven by voice. All AI calls go through Mistral inside the EU, and output is labelled as decision support under GDPR Article 22.
Elevium is explicit that it does not decide: it proposes, and the teacher or specialist decides. Deployment is cloud-only, with go-live announced within thirty days and no installation.

GDPR overview
Implementation is concrete rather than declaratory. Elevium states it complies with the GDPR and was built GDPR-first, and it names its roles: processor under Article 28 for school data, controller for the marketing site. A full data processing agreement is provided, and the vendor commits to assisting with data subject requests and supervisory authority contacts. The privacy policy, last updated in December 2025, sets out the legal bases under Article 6 and the rights under Articles 15 to 22, and names the Swedish supervisory authority IMY for complaints. The product itself ships GDPR tooling: a record of processing activities (Article 30), automated subject access exports (Article 15), timestamped consent (Article 7), automated erasure (Article 17), portability (Article 20), a 72-hour breach reporting flow (Article 33) and data protection officer administration (Articles 37 to 39). NIS2 is described as prepared for, not met.
Who owns the data?
The terms of use state plainly that the customer keeps every right to the data uploaded into the service, and that Elevium AB receives only a limited licence to process it for the sole purpose of delivering the service. Under the GDPR the customer organisation remains the data controller for pupil data while Elevium AB acts as processor under Article 28, working only on the customer's documented instructions and agreed purposes. Elevium AB is itself the controller for the marketing website and its contact form. Intellectual property in the software, design, trade marks and documentation stays with Elevium AB. When the contract ends, all data is either deleted or returned to the customer.
Reuse rights
Reuse is framed narrowly. Elevium states it processes data only according to the customer's instructions and the purposes agreed in the contract, which leaves the school free to use its own records as it sees fit while the vendor is not. AI calls run through Mistral inside the EU, and the vendor states that no pupil data leaves the EU. AI output is labelled as decision support in the sense of GDPR Article 22, and the assistant answers only within the permissions of the person asking, so a tutor cannot obtain through it what they could not open directly. Access to sensitive notes is written to an audit trail. Data can be exported by the customer in PDF, Excel, and as a portability package in CSV and SS12000-JSON. Nowhere does the site address whether customer data may be used to train models.

Elevium states that all data is stored within the EU and that its servers are EU-based. AI processing is handled by Mistral inside the EU, and the vendor states explicitly that no pupil data leaves the EU. Encryption is described as AES-256, with role-based access control and a complete audit trail, and a dedicated secured view masks sensitive fields for pupils with protected identities. No individual country is named. The vendor commits to the EU as a region and goes no further, so the jurisdiction can be established at EU level but not at the level of a specific data centre or member state. No list of subprocessors is published either: Mistral is the only third party named anywhere on the site, and the vendor does not state that there are no others. Anyone with a residency requirement tighter than the EU, or needing to assess the full processing chain, will have to ask for the data processing agreement, which Elevium provides on request.

- Automation bias is the main human risk here; the vendor marks AI output as decision support, but a tired tutor accepting a generated development plan draft unread turns a support into a decision
- The platform concentrates unusually sensitive data on minors, including counsellor notes, wellbeing surveys and student health cases, so role-based access and the audit trail must be configured seriously rather than left at defaults
