What is FontDance?
FontDance is a browser-based AI font generator. You describe a typographic direction in words, or show it a picture, and it returns a typeable alphabet you can export as real TTF and WOFF2 files. The distinction the site insists on is usable type: not loose lettering images, not decorative text effects, but glyphs assembled into a working font. Two entry paths exist. On the home page you write a style prompt covering shape, weight, stroke contrast, spacing, personality and intended use, then generate. On the Image to Font page you upload a JPG, PNG or WebP picture you hold the rights to, and no prompt is required, since the tool applies its own image-to-font instruction internally. Both routes treat uppercase, lowercase, punctuation and symbols as one system; the default character set is called Alphabet 60, with optional German, Spanish, French, punctuation and numeral sets for five extra credits each. Before conversion, the generator checks glyph structure, legibility and layout. A live preview lets you type your own words and change the colour, and every result stays in a personal My Fonts library. Three satellite tools sit alongside the generator: an AI Font Identifier that segments the text areas of an image, proposes likely typefaces with free and commercial alternatives and a short rationale; a TTF to WOFF2 converter; and a WOFF2 to TTF converter, each accepting a single file of up to 16 MB. A public collections page hosts downloadable packs, though only one existed in early September 2026, the six-face Dog-Typeface Collection. Access is web only: no mobile app, no extension, no public API. One anonymous generation is free, worth ten credits and protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, but downloading requires an account created by email and password or through Google, with email verification. A successful generation costs ten credits, bought through three credit subscriptions, and the interface is available in English, German, French and Spanish. Originality guardrails are central: the site refuses requests to copy brands, logos, franchises or commercial typefaces. The product is very young, with terms effective 8 June 2026, no about page, no blog, no named team and no social presence.

Paid access starts at USD 9.90 per month with the Starter plan, prices being shown on a monthly basis by default; yearly billing carries a standing 30% discount, which brings Starter to USD 83.00 per year. One successful generation consumes ten credits and each additional character set costs five more. Credits are valid for the active billing period only, 31 days on monthly billing and 366 days on yearly, and are not carried forward. Payment is processed through Stripe in US dollars.

GDPR overview
The word GDPR appears nowhere on FontDance's site or in its legal documents. There is no data processing agreement, no list of named subprocessors, no Article 27 EU representative, no data protection officer and no declared hosting jurisdiction. The privacy policy acknowledges rights only in generic terms, without attaching them to any legal text: 'Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to certain processing.' It adds that data may be processed in countries other than the user's own, where rules differ, citing no transfer safeguard. The cookie policy states that consent controls may be added 'in the future ... where required', so no consent banner is described. The service is not intended for under-13s, no certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 is claimed, and the only contact channel is a web form. FontDance neither claims nor denies compliance.
Who owns the data?
FontDance's terms grant you a non-exclusive licence to use the fonts you lawfully generate and download, for personal and commercial projects, within the limits of your plan. That licence transfers no ownership of FontDance, its software, its templates or its generation pipeline, and it carries no guarantee that a generated font is unique, copyrightable, trademark-safe, patent-safe or free from third-party claims: verification before production use falls on you. In exchange, you must hold the rights to every prompt and reference image you upload, and you grant FontDance a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, process, reproduce, transform, store, display and transmit your content and the generated outputs. The documents never state who owns the copyright in the generated font.
Reuse rights
Downloaded font files can be reused without asking further permission, within that licence: client work, branding, merchandising, apps, websites, games, packaging and logos are all covered, provided the direction was original and the plan limits are respected, and the Starter tier's output is marketed as commercial-ready files. On the publisher's side, the privacy policy covers account details, generation content (prompts, AI-enriched prompts, reference images, glyph sheets, font files, previews, job status and metadata), usage and device data, anonymous generation records, payment metadata and support messages. These serve generation itself, enforcement of credit limits and of the sign-in requirement for downloads, debugging, font-quality improvement, fraud and abuse detection, support and payment. Prompts, templates, reference images and metadata are passed to third-party AI, image-generation and infrastructure providers, none of which is named. FontDance states that it does not sell generated font files as personal information and does not intentionally sell personal data. Nothing is said about training models on customer content, and no opt-out is documented; the terms' word 'improve' is the closest the wording comes. The policy also asks users not to upload sensitive personal information or confidential material.

Hosting summary
FontDance declares no hosting country and no region. The privacy policy says only that information may be processed and stored in countries other than the user's own, and that those countries may have different data protection rules, without naming a jurisdiction, a transfer mechanism or a safeguard. Recipients are listed by category only — hosting, database, storage, logging, security, AI and image-generation providers, payment processors, anti-abuse services — and not one is named. What can be observed technically, outside anything the publisher states, points towards the United States: the site is served through Cloudflare (AS13335), the resolved address 104.21.73.43 is a US-located anycast node, the domain registrar is Porkbun LLC in the United States, and the first-party application bundle configures user file storage on Cloudflare R2. None of that is a declaration by FontDance, and an anycast address does not establish where data physically rests. In short: nothing published, a US-leaning infrastructure inferred from technical evidence, and no data processing agreement to pin it down.
