Media.io
Media.io is an all-in-one AI creative studio that generates and edits video, images and audio in one browser workspace. It bundles access to leading third-party models, and starts free with daily login credits.
What is Media.io?
Media.io is an all-in-one AI creative platform that handles video, image and audio work in a single browser-based studio. It is operated by AI Intelligent Technology Co., Limited and carries Wondershare branding on every page. The domain's first Wayback capture dates from November 2010, and the site claims fourteen years of brand history, 50 million users across 160 countries and more than 600 million files processed.
Rather than training one house model, Media.io aggregates third-party ones. Video runs on Kling 3.0 and 3.0 Turbo, Veo 3.1 and 3.1 Lite, Seedance 2.0, Hailuo 2.3, Vidu Q3, Wan 2.6 and HappyHorse 1.0; images on GPT Image 2, Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2, Seedream 5.0, Imagen 4.0 and the in-house ToMoviee Lite and 2.0. One subscription reaches all of them.
The catalogue splits four ways. Creation covers text-to-video, image-to-video, video extension, text-to-image, image-to-image, text-to-music and lyrics-to-song. Editing covers watermark removal, object and background removal, upscaling, portrait enhancement, noise reduction, vocal isolation, voice changing and lip sync. Effects offer more than two thousand video and two thousand image presets, refreshed weekly, beside a community gallery of over 600 million creations with a one-click Recreate button. Studios package longer workflows: Viral Studio rebuilds a trending format from a link, AI Ad Generator turns a product URL into a video ad, AI Story Generator converts a screenplay or novel chapter into a story video, and MediaAgent, still in beta, plans an entire workflow from one prompt.
Everything runs on credits. Subscription credits expire at the end of each billing cycle, purchased credits last two years, and gift credits arrive on sign-up, on daily login and during events. Generation speed rises from Normal to Fast to Turbo with the plan.
Beyond the web app there is a desktop version and a mobile app, plus a separate developer track: developer.media.io exposes the same models through one API, billed per second of video or per image, with a stated 99.9% uptime SLA. The interface is offered in nine languages. Uploaded files and generated content are deleted from the servers within seven days, and no backup is kept.
What it does
- Generate video from a text prompt, a still image or a reference clip
- Generate and restyle images, including a reusable AI character
- Compose music, songs from lyrics, and sound effects from a text prompt
- Remove watermarks, objects, backgrounds, noise and vocals from video, images and audio
- Turn a product URL into a video ad, or a script into a story video
- Add automatic subtitles and translate a video into another language
- Call the same generation models through a single unified API

- Anyone under 16, the minimum age set by the privacy policy
How to use Media.io
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Open media.io in a browser - no installation is required

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Media.io handles your data.
GDPR overview
Implementation is documented but partial. The privacy policy, updated 23 April 2026, sets out a full table of GDPR rights for EU residents - information, access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, complaint and withdrawal of consent - and names the CNIL as the supervisory authority. Cross-border transfers are said to rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses required by the GDPR, and the main processing locations are given as the United States, the European Union and China. The minimum age is 16 and every request goes to a single address, contact@media.io. What is missing matters: the section headed 'Data Controller and Representative' names no Article 27 representative, no Data Processing Agreement is offered, and no subprocessor list is published.
Who owns the data?
Under the Terms of Service you keep whatever ownership rights you hold in the files you upload and in the content you generate with the tools; the pricing FAQ repeats that you keep the copyright and ownership of source and converted files. In exchange you grant AI Intelligent Technology Co., Limited a worldwide, revocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free and transferable licence to use, reproduce and display that content so the platform can function, plus a matching licence for other users and partners to use it through the platform's features. Anything you upload and make publicly available is treated as non-confidential.
Reuse rights
You may reuse what you create without asking permission: ownership stays with you and no separate clearance step is described. Media.io stops short of guaranteeing commercial use, however. It tells users to check local copyright law for AI-generated content themselves and makes them responsible for respecting third-party rights before publishing commercially. Free-plan output carries a further condition: content uploaded or posted under a free subscription grants an irrevocable licence to develop and improve the platform, including training, testing and developing AI models, algorithms and model weights. That licence can be revoked by deleting the account or upgrading to a paid plan, but anonymised information already derived from the content may still be used.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Media.io names three main processing locations: the United States, the European Union and China. It reserves the right to transfer personal data to any other country where its products are available, and states that transfers out of the EU are covered by data transfer agreements such as the Standard Contractual Clauses required by the GDPR. Data may be stored on servers leased from third-party providers, which are not named: no subprocessor list is published, and there is no way for a customer to choose a hosting region or obtain a residency commitment. Payment instrument data is not held by Media.io at all, being collected and stored by its payment processors. As a network observation rather than a company statement, the media.io web server resolves to an address in Santa Clara, United States, on Tencent infrastructure. Anyone with data residency obligations should treat the China leg of the processing chain as the point to clarify before signing up.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Media.io.
- Free-plan content feeds model training under a licence you cannot revoke without leaving the free tier
- Automatic deletion after seven days with no backup: anything you have not downloaded is gone
- The three-day Premium trial rolls into an annual subscription automatically unless cancelled
- Subscription credits expire at the end of each cycle and never carry over; spent and purchased credits are non-refundable
- Face swap, clothes transfer and body-retouching tools make it easy to produce imagery that infringes someone's likeness rights
- Commercial use of generated content is pushed back onto the user, who must check local copyright law
- Leaning on weekly trend templates and one-click Recreate can quietly replace original creative judgement with pattern-following
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low for the main route. Everything runs in the browser with no installation; you create an account with an email address and start generating. There is no configuration, no key to install and no prior integration. The real learning curve is choosing between models and writing a usable prompt, not setting the tool up. The developer route asks more: register an application on platform.media.io, read the documentation and manage credit consumption. A desktop version and a mobile app are mentioned in the terms and credit rules, but no download link is published on the site.

Should you pick Media.io?
Media.io covers an unusually wide surface for its price. Video, image and audio generation sit beside editing tools, a four-thousand-strong effects library and packaged studios that turn a product URL or a screenplay into finished footage, and a single subscription reaches a dozen leading third-party models rather than one house engine. For an individual creator, a small marketing team or an e-commerce seller producing listing content, the arithmetic works: a real free tier with daily credits, Standard at USD 7.99 per month on an annual commitment, a three-day Premium trial and a seven-day money-back guarantee.
The reservations concern the publisher rather than the product. Media.io publishes no postal address, no about page and no contact page. The operating entity named in the terms, AI Intelligent Technology Co., Limited, is not the Wondershare brand shown on every page, and the site never explains the gap. There is no Data Processing Agreement, no subprocessor list and no Article 27 representative, despite a privacy section headed 'Data Controller and Representative'. Governing law is that of the People's Republic of China, with arbitration in Shenzhen. Any organisation with a procurement checklist will stop at one of these.
Two operational details deserve attention whatever the plan. Uploaded files and generated content are deleted from the servers within seven days with no backup kept - good for privacy, awkward if a project runs long. And on the free tier, content grants an irrevocable licence to train and improve the models, revocable only by deleting the account or upgrading.
Recommended for individual and small-team creative work where speed and breadth matter more than paperwork. Approach with care where enterprise deployment, regulated data or the identity and jurisdiction of the counterparty form part of the decision.
