Overview

What is Photostudio.io?

Photostudio.io is an AI product photography platform built for fashion e-commerce. Its promise is deliberately narrow: upload one garment photo and get back a full product page worth of visuals, ready in about three minutes. The publisher frames the problem as a volume problem rather than a creative one — “One image is easy. 300 SKUs is the real problem.” — and the whole product is organised around catalogue scale.

From a single upload the platform advertises nine output types, while the tool hub lists eleven individual generators plus a Campaign mode. The named tools are Ghost Mannequin, Flatlay, On-Model (three poses), Photoshoot, UGC, AI Scene, Detail, Video, Editorial Campaign (seven art-directed stills), Proven Creatives and Virtual Try-On. Campaign mode bundles seven outputs into a single run of roughly twenty minutes, described as a complete visual suite. The models are said to be trained specifically on fashion, on fabric, drape and fit, which is the argument the company makes against generalist background-removal and product-photo tools.

There are four ways in. The web studio is the default. A Shopify app lets merchants import their catalogue, generate and push media straight back to product listings. A batch upload takes a folder of garment images and returns a consistent visual set behind one review grid. A REST API lets agencies and platform teams wire generation into a PIM, a DAM or their own back end. WooCommerce and Odoo appear as announced integrations, respectively in development and in pilot, so neither is delivered yet.

The company behind the product is 11380 BV, a Belgian company based in Herentals, which also takes part in the TETRA research project “General World Models” with AP University of Applied Sciences and Arts Antwerp. Its stated signature is “Built by fashion photographers, for e-commerce brands”.

The cost argument runs against studio photography: the site quotes 150–300 USD per product, or 50–200 USD per garment on the Shopify page, and one to three weeks of lead time, against roughly 0.29 USD per image and a few minutes. The claimed limits are stated too: AI Scene handles backgrounds only and never people, and nothing is claimed outside clothing and accessories.

What it does

  • Generate a ghost mannequin shot from a single garment photo
  • Produce three on-model catalogue poses (front, side, back) on a neutral background
  • Create flatlay images for catalogues, lookbooks and social feeds
  • Generate lifestyle and UGC-style scenes, plus macro detail shots of textures, seams and hardware
  • Replace the background with a prompt-driven AI scene, backgrounds only and no people
  • Animate a short product video from the same still image
  • Run a whole collection in batch, from a Shopify catalogue or through the REST API, and push the media back to product pages

When to use Photostudio.io / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Photostudio.io is the right fit.

When to use Photostudio.io

  • Fashion e-commerce brands managing catalogues of 50 to 500+ SKUs who need consistent product-page visuals at scale
  • Shopify merchants who want to import their catalogue, generate visuals and push the media straight back to product listings
  • Brands preparing a collection launch, working in batch behind a single review grid and a single export
  • Resellers and marketplace sellers who need listing-ready images fast, through the dedicated Reseller Pack
  • Agencies and platform teams wiring the REST API into a PIM, a DAM or an in-house back end

When not to use Photostudio.io

  • Businesses selling anything other than clothing and accessories: the models are trained on fashion (fabric, drape, fit) and nothing is claimed beyond that
  • Teams who need people placed into a generated environment, since AI Scene is explicitly limited to scene replacement with no people
  • Organisations that require a contractual uptime commitment, as no SLA exists outside a separate Enterprise agreement
  • Users looking for a mobile app or a browser extension, neither of which exists: everything runs in the browser, inside Shopify or through the API
  • Teams working in a language other than English, or needing a documented opt-out from model training, as neither is provided

How to use Photostudio.io

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Try the free studio first: a first image can be generated without creating an account or entering card details
  2. Create an account to unlock the permanent free plan, three images per month with no watermark
  3. Upload any sharp product photo of the garment; a smartphone shot is enough
  4. Choose the output types you need: ghost mannequin, flatlay, on-model, lifestyle, UGC, AI Scene, detail or video
  5. Let the generation run, roughly three minutes per garment and about twenty minutes for a full Campaign of seven outputs
  6. Review the results in a single validation grid, then download publication-ready files
  7. On Shopify, install the app from the Shopify App Store, import your products, generate, then push the media back to the product pages
  8. For a whole collection, use batch upload: drop a folder of garment images, review once, export once
  9. For automation, generate an API key from your account, POST an image, poll the job or subscribe to webhooks, then collect the outputs
  10. Keep an eye on your credit balance: two credits per image, fourteen credits per animated video

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • A genuine fashion specialisation, with models trained on fabric, drape and fit where generalist tools handle any product
  • One upload yields several formats, instead of one image per prompt
  • Built for volume: batch upload, a single review grid, a single export and an API for pipeline integration
  • A real and permanent free entry point of three images a month with no card, plus a first trial with no account at all and a 14-day money-back guarantee on paid plans
  • No watermark, even on the free plan, and a very low cost per image compared with a studio (0.24 to 0.38 USD depending on tier)
  • Ownership of generated images transferred to the customer after payment, with explicit commercial use
  • An unusually complete legal corpus for a publisher this size: privacy policy, terms, DPA, cookie policy and legal notice, with subprocessors named one by one and primary hosting in the EU

Cons

  • Traction figures contradict each other from page to page: 10+ countries, 500+ brands, 1,000+ Shopify brands, 12,000+ brands or merchants, and 6 brands running live collections
  • Two price grids coexist, 12 / 19 / 79 USD per month on the home page against 9.60 / 15.20 / 63.20 USD billed annually on the pricing page, and annual billing is not yet live, so checkout may still charge monthly
  • No documented option to exclude your data from model training, and in fact no statement about training at all
  • Image generation is delegated to named third-party AI providers, some outside the EU (Google Gemini, ApiYi, Kie, LaoZhang and similar)
  • No uptime commitment outside a separate Enterprise SLA, and refunds are decided case by case within 14 days rather than granted automatically
  • A single human channel, one email address, with no contact page, no chat, no phone and no public social profile linked from the site
  • No mobile app or browser extension, API documentation pages that are client-rendered and unreadable without a browser, and WooCommerce and Odoo announced but not delivered

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Photostudio.io handles your data.

GDPR overview

GDPR implementation is explicit and documented. 11380 BV, Neerhof 16, 2200 Herentals, Belgium, names itself as controller in a privacy policy, terms and cookie policy all dated March 2025, and publishes a separate data processing agreement for business customers acting as controllers. No DPO is legally required, and requests go to peter@photostudio.io. Section 6 lists access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent and the right to complain, naming the Belgian supervisory authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit). Transfers outside the EEA rely on standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions or the Data Privacy Framework. The DPA covers Article 32 security, assistance with data subject requests and DPIAs, Article 30 records and customer-funded audits. The cookie banner allows non-essential cookies to be refused. No Article 27 representative is designated, the publisher being established in Belgium.

Who owns the data?

The terms of service, section 3, effective March 2025, settle ownership in the customer's favour. You retain all rights to the source images you upload, typically your own garment photographs. For the images the platform generates, you receive a non-exclusive licence for commercial use, and ownership is assigned to you once payment for the credits or subscription used is complete: payment is the trigger, so unpaid output is not yours. The publisher, 11380 BV, states that it claims no ownership of your inputs or outputs beyond what is necessary to operate the service. Section 8 sets the counterpart on your side: you must hold the rights to everything you upload.

Reuse rights

Generated images can be reused commercially without asking further permission: full payment grants a non-exclusive commercial licence and transfers ownership, and no plan applies a watermark, including the free one. On the processing side, the privacy policy dated March 2025 lists the categories handled: account data (email, name, password hash), billing data processed by Stripe and/or Shopify, usage and session data, AI uploads (the garment images themselves) and technical logs (IP address, device, requests). The stated legal bases are performance of the contract, legitimate interest (fraud prevention, security, service improvement) and consent for analytics and marketing cookies. Data is shared with subprocessors named one by one: Supabase for hosting, database and authentication, Shopify and Stripe for payments, Google for Analytics, reCAPTCHA and Tag Manager, Meta for its pixel, Plerdy for behaviour analytics, and third-party AI providers including Google Gemini, ApiYi, Kie and LaoZhang. The data processing agreement commits the publisher to processing personal data only on the customer's documented instructions and for no purpose other than delivering the AI product photography service, unless required by law.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
The privacy policy, dated March 2025, sets retention by data category. Account data is kept until the account is deleted or a deletion request is made. Billing history is kept for seven years, to meet legal and tax obligations. Technical logs are kept for up to 90 days. AI uploads, meaning the garment images sent for generation, are described only as processed for generation and not stored permanently beyond what is necessary for the service, which is the least precise of the four commitments since no maximum period is given. The data processing agreement adds the standard rule for business customers: personal data is retained only for as long as necessary or legally required, and is deleted or returned on request or at the end of the service.

Hosting summary

The privacy policy and the data processing agreement name a single hosting provider: Supabase, which handles hosting, database and authentication, marked “(EU)”. That marker is the only geographical indication given, no hosting country is named, so the EU region is as precise as the documentation gets. Transfers outside the EEA are framed by standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions or the Data Privacy Framework, which matters because part of the generation work is sent to third-party AI providers, some of them outside Europe. Two caveats are worth recording. The cookie policy attributes the session cookie to “Supabase (us)”, an ambiguous wording that sits awkwardly beside the EU marker and should not be read as a statement of storage location. And the website itself resolves to 216.150.1.1, an anycast node on Amazon's network (AS16509) that geolocates to the United States: that is the web front end, not the declared storage. In short, EU hosting is claimed for application data, no country is named, extra-EEA transfers are contractually covered, and the public material is not precise enough to confirm a single jurisdiction.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Photostudio.io.

  • Generation is delegated to named third-party AI providers such as Google Gemini, ApiYi, Kie and LaoZhang, some of them outside the EU under standard contractual clauses or the Data Privacy Framework: your garment images travel further than the publisher's own infrastructure
  • No published position on whether uploaded images are used to train models, with neither a no-training commitment nor an opt-out
  • Annual plans are not yet in place and the site warns that checkout may still bill monthly despite the annual display; two price grids coexist, so check the real amount before paying
  • No SLA outside a separate Enterprise contract, and refunds within the 14-day window are discretionary rather than automatic
  • A single human point of contact, one email address, which matters if your workflow depends on responsive support
  • Displayed customer counts vary sharply from one page to another, which makes traction claims hard to use as a purchasing signal
  • Systematic use of AI visuals can erode in-house photographic judgement and make product pages look interchangeable; check too that your target marketplaces accept AI-generated imagery and that the visuals still represent the garment the customer will receive
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low for the web studio: nothing to install, and a first generation is possible without an account or a card. The site states “No tutorials. No training. No onboarding calls.” Shopify is barely harder, since it means installing the app from the Shopify App Store and importing the catalogue. Batch use comes down to dropping a folder of images. Only the API requires developer skills: generate a key from the account, call REST endpoints with JSON, then poll the job or handle webhooks. Tutorials, including a Shopify connection guide, are published on the site.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What kind of source photo does Photostudio.io need?
Any sharp product photo of the garment will do. The site's FAQ states that a smartphone shot is enough, with no requirement for studio lighting or a professional camera.
How long does a generation take?
About three minutes per garment. Campaign mode, which produces seven outputs in a single run, takes roughly twenty minutes.
Can I try Photostudio.io before paying?
Yes. The permanent free plan gives three images a month with no payment card, and the try-studio page lets you generate a first image without even creating an account. Paid plans also carry an advertised 14-day money-back guarantee.
Can I use the generated images commercially?
Yes. Section 3 of the terms grants a non-exclusive commercial licence and assigns ownership of the generated images to you once payment for the credits or subscription used is complete. You keep all rights to the source images you upload.
Is there an API?
Yes. Photostudio.io exposes REST endpoints over HTTPS with JSON payloads, an API v1 facade plus MCP for agent workflows, campaign and generator routes, and webhooks. API keys are generated from your account, and API access is included from the Growth plan upwards.
Can I process a whole collection at once?
Yes. Batch upload takes a folder of garment images and returns a consistent visual set behind a single review grid and a single export. The API offers campaign and generator routes for the same purpose.
Which integrations are available?
Shopify and batch upload are live, the API is available, and exports are described as Zalando-ready. WooCommerce is in development and Odoo is at pilot stage, so neither is delivered yet.
Where is the data hosted?
The privacy policy names Supabase for hosting, database and authentication, with an EU marker. No hosting country is named. Transfers outside the EEA are covered by standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions or the Data Privacy Framework.
Is a data processing agreement available?
Yes. A DPA is published on the site, and a signed copy can be requested from peter@photostudio.io, the only contact address published by the company.
Is there a mobile app?
No iOS or Android application is mentioned anywhere on the site. Photostudio.io runs in the browser, inside Shopify or through the API.
Conclusion

Should you pick Photostudio.io?

Photostudio.io does not try to be a general product photography tool. It is a fashion e-commerce tool and says so everywhere: models trained on fabric, drape and fit, outputs that match what a clothing product page actually needs, and no claim beyond garments and accessories. That focus is the main reason to look at it, and the main reason to rule it out.

Its value lies in volume rather than in the single image. A brand with forty SKUs will do fine on the free plan and the one-off packs; a brand with three hundred will get more from the batch upload, the single review grid and the REST API than from any individual generator. For merchants already on Shopify, the import, generate and push route is the shortest.

The legal side is unusually solid for a publisher this size. Privacy policy, terms, DPA and cookie policy, all dated March 2025, name the Belgian controller, list subprocessors one by one, state retention periods and set out data subject rights. Generated images become the customer's property once payment is complete, with explicit commercial use and no watermark on any plan.

The reservations concern the publisher more than the product. Customer numbers vary widely from one page to the next. Two price grids coexist and annual billing is not yet live, so the amount at checkout may differ from the one displayed. Nothing is published about whether uploaded images feed model training, and there is no opt-out. Support runs through a single email address.

The sensible approach is the one the site itself proposes: generate a few images for free, on your own garments, before committing to anything.
