Overview

What is Pixmaker?

Pixmaker is an online AI product photography studio aimed at e-commerce sellers and apparel retailers. Its promise is blunt: turn an ordinary product or garment photo into a merchandising visual of professional standard, with no studio, no photographer and no shoot. It is one of the products of HiDream.ai, a Chinese multimodal visual generation platform — the application shell names HiDream.ai in its noscript block, images are served from hidreamai.com content delivery domains, and the API button points to e.hidreamai.com.

Three functions are publicly documented. AI Backgrounds takes one or several product images, cuts them out automatically on import, lets you adjust size, position, mirroring and rotation, then builds a scene from a preset template or from a description you type together with a reference image; several products can be composed into a single coherent scene, and an AI remover erases residual defects. AI Model starts from a model photo: the AI keeps the clothing and drops the original model and background, you refine by hand which garments are retained, then choose a preset model — the bank spans origins, ages, genders and styles, and includes fixed-IP models — and a preset setting, with hairstyle, skin tone and outfit variations and export up to 4K. Remove BG is a fully automatic cut-out running in a few seconds, with batch upload, fine tuning of the selected area, a transparent or colour-coded background, careful handling of thin edges such as hair and small objects, and JPG or PNG export.

Around these sit batch generation of several images in one style, resizing by preset or target dimension, and marketplace size presets for Amazon, eBay, Shopee, Lazada, Shopify, Vinted, Depop and Poshmark. An image community can serve as a starting point, free templates cover product images, image series and video, and a Shoplazza integration is genuinely wired into the code.

Access is web-only, after creating an account with Google or an email address, with 50 credits granted on sign-up; the interface ships in English and Chinese. Two areas stay vague: product video is announced in the site title and the FAQ but documented by no page, and the home page Coming Soon section is entirely empty.

  • Compose several products into one coherent scene
  • Build a custom model from a model photo, or pick one from a preset model bank
  • Resize a visual to a marketplace format and export up to 4K
  • Generate product videos

When to use Pixmaker / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Pixmaker is the right fit.

When to use Pixmaker

  • E-commerce sellers who need studio-grade product shots without booking a studio, a photographer or a shoot
  • Apparel and fashion retailers who want garments shown on models of varied origins, ages, genders and styles
  • Catalogue and merchandising teams working at volume, thanks to batch cut-outs and same-style batch generation
  • Marketplace sellers who must reformat the same visual for Amazon, eBay, Shopee, Lazada, Shopify, Vinted, Depop or Poshmark, where size presets are built in
  • Shoplazza merchants, for whom a dedicated purchase path is genuinely wired into the application

When not to use Pixmaker

  • Buyers who need a price before signing up: no rate is published anywhere outside the logged-in application
  • Organisations that require GDPR paperwork: there is no accessible privacy policy, no DPA, no sub-processor list and no GDPR mention at all
  • Security or procurement reviewers who must know where uploaded data is hosted, since no country or region is published
  • Developers hoping to integrate by API today: the documentation the interface links to returns a 404
  • Anyone after general-purpose image or text generation: Pixmaker only handles product and on-model apparel visuals

How to use Pixmaker

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Create an account with Google or an email address; 50 credits are granted on sign-up
  2. Choose a function: AI Backgrounds for product scenes, AI Model for garments on models, Remove BG for cut-outs
  3. For backgrounds, upload one or several product images; the tool cuts them out automatically on import
  4. Adjust the size, position, mirroring and rotation of each product on the canvas
  5. Pick a preset template, or describe the background you want in words and add a reference image
  6. Click Generate, clean up any residue with the AI remover, then download
  7. For models, upload a model photo; the AI keeps the clothes and removes the original model and background, and you adjust by hand which garments are kept
  8. Select a preset model and a preset setting — you may change only one of the two and keep the other from the original image — then generate and download up to 4K
  9. For cut-outs, upload your images in batch, refine the selected area, and set a transparent or colour-coded background
  10. Resize to a marketplace preset if needed, download in JPG or PNG, and regenerate as often as you like until the result satisfies you

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Three complementary functions in one tool: backgrounds, on-model apparel and background removal
  • No studio, no shoot and no design skills required, with unlimited regeneration until the result satisfies you
  • Batch handling on cut-outs and same-style generation, which fits large, fast-moving catalogues
  • A permanent free tier plus 50 credits on sign-up, so the output quality can be judged before paying
  • Ownership of the generated images explicitly granted to the user, resale included, provided the source pictures were lawful
  • Marketplace size presets and export up to 4K on model images, so files land ready for their destination
  • A model bank spanning several origins, ages, genders and styles, useful for adapting one product page to several markets

Cons

  • No public pricing: the grid only appears once an account exists, and the tool's own pricing endpoints answer 401 without a session
  • No privacy policy reachable from the site, no GDPR mention, no DPA, no sub-processor list and no certification claimed
  • No hosting country or region published, so where uploaded images and generated files live is unknown
  • Payments declared non-refundable, and prices that may change with immediate effect
  • No company name, no postal address and no legal notice anywhere on the site; a single contact address, and it only shows on the Enterprise plan card
  • The API documentation the interface points to returns a 404, and the whole e.hidreamai.com subdomain is out of service
  • A four-page showcase site with no about, contact, pricing or blog page, an empty Coming Soon section, no mobile application and no browser extension
Pricing

Pricing & Plans

Pixmaker operates on a freemium basis: a permanent free tier exists and 50 credits are granted on account creation, with a free trial before purchase mentioned in the home page FAQ. No amount is published. Paid tiers are billed monthly with a discounted annual option, and the international interface displays prices in US dollars, but no figure appears anywhere on the public site: there is no pricing page, and the four pricing endpoints answer 401 Unauthorized without a session. A lowest price point therefore cannot be stated, and no quota or tier content can be quoted either. An additional credit pack (refuel pack) may be purchased on top of a subscription. The agreement states that payments are non-refundable, that prices may change with immediate effect, and that creating several accounts to accumulate the free tier is prohibited and may lead to billing at the standard rate.

Plan 1
  • Free — permanent free tier
  • entered through a Get Started For Free button
  • with 50 credits granted on sign-up. Amount and quotas not public.
Plan 3
  • Enterprise — no price displayed
  • the card states that additional plans are offered for enterprises and opens an email to hello@pixmaker.ai
  • so terms are handled case by case.
Plan 4
  • Monthly or annual billing — the interface offers a monthly/annual switch
  • the annual option showing a struck-through price and a discount whose rate is not public.
Plan 5
  • Refuel pack — an add-on credit top-up bought on top of a subscription
  • reserved to members
  • repeatable and effective immediately. Price not public.
Special offers — 50 free credits on account creation, announced in a banner across the showcase site. · A permanent free tier, entered through a Get Started For Free button. · A free trial before purchase, mentioned in the home page FAQ. · A discount on annual commitment, visible in the pricing component, but whose rate is not public. · Free templates for product images, image series and video generation. · No promo code, launch offer, student, non-profit or unemployed rate is mentioned anywhere on the site.
Prices and plans listed above may evolve. Always check the official pricing page before subscribing.
Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Pixmaker handles your data.

GDPR overview

There is no GDPR implementation on display, at any level. Neither the public pages nor the application code contains a single mention of the regulation: no claim of compliance, and no explicit refusal either. No privacy policy is accessible, no Article 27 EU representative or data protection officer is named, no privacy contact address exists on the domain, no DPA is offered, no sub-processor list is published and no certification is claimed. The only contractual document that can be read, the User Service Agreement of 30 May 2024, does not address personal data. A HiDream.ai privacy policy dated 31 July 2023 sits in the site's code but is wired only to the Chinese variant of the application; written under Chinese law and naming a Beijing court, it is not a GDPR answer and is not Pixmaker's policy.

Who owns the data?

The User Service Agreement of 30 May 2024 splits your material into input (what you upload) and output (what the AI returns), together called content. To the extent permitted by law you own all rights to the input, and Pixmaker grants you the right to use the output provided you comply with the terms; the home page FAQ adds that generated images and videos become your legal property, free to use and to sell, if the source pictures are lawful. Pixmaker reserves the right to use content to provide and maintain the service, comply with laws and enforce its policies. Clearing copyright and likeness rights on what you upload is left to you.

Reuse rights

On paper the publisher's use of content is narrow: providing and maintaining the service, complying with applicable law and enforcing its policies. On the user's side the position is generous — generated images may be used and resold without asking permission, provided the source pictures were lawful and the rights of any copyright holders or identifiable people were cleared beforehand, which the agreement makes your responsibility. Feedback is a separate case: comments, ideas and suggestions may be reused by Pixmaker without restriction and without compensation. What is never said matters as much: nothing states whether uploaded images feed model training, in either direction, and no opt-out exists — every real wording (opt-out, do not train, disable training, zero retention) returns zero occurrence across the public pages and the application bundle. Google Analytics, Google Ads and an Aliyun captcha run on the site, and the HiDream.ai privacy policy compiled into the site's code is reachable from no pixmaker.ai URL.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Pixmaker publishes no retention period. The User Service Agreement of 30 May 2024, the only document reachable from the site, says nothing about how long uploads, generated files or account data are kept, and no account or data deletion procedure is documented on the Pixmaker side. The agreement allows the service to be suspended or discontinued without saying what becomes of stored content, and no data export option is mentioned. A HiDream.ai policy compiled into the site's code — not reachable from any pixmaker.ai URL — undertakes to handle a deactivation request within seven working days after identity verification, then to remove personal data unless legal retention applies, and to keep data only as long as necessary; those rules describe the HiDream.ai platform and cannot be invoked as Pixmaker's.
Trains on customer data
Unclear

Hosting summary

Pixmaker publishes no hosting information at all: no country, no region, no trust, security or infrastructure page. The domain resolves to 34.120.86.49, a Google LLC anycast node geolocated in the United States, but that address delivers the website itself; it says nothing about where uploaded images and generated files are stored and must not be read as an answer. Content is served from storage.hidreamai.com, storage-cdn.hidreamai.com, media.hidreamai.com and storage.pixmaker.ai, which points to infrastructure shared with the parent platform without documenting its location. The HiDream.ai privacy policy compiled into the site's code — reachable from no pixmaker.ai URL — states that data collected in the course of operations in China is stored on Chinese territory; that sentence describes the Chinese platform and cannot be transposed to Pixmaker. In short, the hosting jurisdiction of Pixmaker user data is undocumented, and any organisation with a data localisation requirement has nothing to rely on.

Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Pixmaker.

  • You cannot budget before committing: no price is visible without an account, payments are declared non-refundable, and prices may change with immediate effect. Signing up in a hurry with a card is how a small test becomes a line item nobody approved.
  • No privacy policy is reachable from the site, so what is collected, for how long and where is simply unknown; there is no GDPR mention, no Article 27 representative, no DPA and no sub-processor list to fall back on.
  • The publisher never states whether uploaded images are used to train its models, and no opt-out is documented. The agreement lets Pixmaker use content to provide and maintain the service — broad wording for files that may show unreleased products, packaging or identifiable people.
  • Identity is unverifiable: no company name, postal address or legal notice on the site, three different entities visible from outside sources, a contract submitted to local laws without naming a jurisdiction, and a guardian clause for under-18s without any minimum age being set. No country is excluded from the service, so nothing warns a user that the counterparty may not be where they assume.
  • A generated scene is not the product the buyer receives. Synthetic backgrounds and AI models make it easy to promise a look that the parcel will not deliver, and the agreement puts rights clearance and lawful use of the source pictures squarely on you, not on the tool.
  • Convenience erodes judgement. Needing no design skill also means exercising none, and a catalogue built entirely from the same preset templates, preset models and preset settings ends up looking like everyone else's — the model bank even includes fixed-IP models whose associated rights regime is never spelled out.
  • Promises should be tested rather than trusted: the API documentation featured in the interface returns a 404, the Coming Soon section is empty, product video is announced without any page documenting it, and the three home page testimonials name no company — one of them carries the name of a well-known actress — so none of them can be read as a client reference.
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low. Pixmaker is a browser application: nothing to install, no key to configure, no code to write. Creating an account with Google or an email address is the only prerequisite, and the 50 credits granted on sign-up allow an immediate first test. Each of the three functions follows the same three-step path — upload, choose a template or preset, generate — and the site states that no design skills are needed. The only technically demanding route would be the API, whose documentation is no longer served, so it cannot be counted on today.

Fundraising

None of the funding below appears anywhere on pixmaker.ai, and no fundraising of Pixmaker's own has been found: these rounds concern HiDream.ai, the parent company, whose link to the product is established by the site itself (the application shell names HiDream.ai, images are served from hidreamai.com domains and the API button points to e.hidreamai.com).
HiDream.ai — seed round in December 2023.
HiDream.ai — more than 500 million yuan raised in April 2026.
HiDream.ai — Series C of 1.5 billion RMB in July 2026, co-led by the National Social Security Fund Sichuan Revitalization Sci-Tech Innovation Fund, ICBC Capital, Hongyi Asset Management and Dunhong Capital.
HiDream.ai — more than 2.1 billion RMB raised over three months, taking the company to unicorn status. Founder and CEO: Tao Mei, previously at JD.com and Microsoft Research Asia.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does Pixmaker actually do?
It turns ordinary product and garment photos into merchandising visuals through AI. Three functions are documented: AI Backgrounds builds a realistic scene around your product, AI Model puts an uploaded garment on a generated model, and Remove BG cuts out backgrounds automatically. Product video is announced in the site title and the FAQ, but no page documents it.
What do I need to provide to get a result?
Only your original pictures — the real product or garment photo, or a picture carrying the product information. The tool cuts the subject out on import, and you then pick a preset template, a preset model and setting, or describe what you want in words with a reference image. The site states that no design skills are required.
Who owns the images Pixmaker generates?
You do. The User Service Agreement of 30 May 2024 says you keep all rights to your input and grants you the right to use the output, and the home page FAQ states that generated images and videos become your legal property, free to use and to sell. The condition is that the source pictures are lawful and that you hold the rights to them.
How much does Pixmaker cost?
No amount is public. A permanent free tier exists and 50 credits are granted on sign-up, and the interface shows Free, Team and Enterprise tiers billed monthly with a discounted annual option, but there is no pricing page and the pricing endpoints answer 401 without a session. The grid only becomes visible after you create an account.
Can I regenerate an image I am not happy with?
Yes. The FAQ states that you can modify and regenerate as many times as you want until the result satisfies you, and an AI remover lets you erase residual defects on a generated image rather than starting over.
Is there a mobile app?
No. Pixmaker is a web application used in the browser, and no App Store or Google Play listing exists — no reference to either store appears in the site or in its application code. Creating an account with Google or an email address is the only prerequisite.
Does Pixmaker offer an API?
The interface exposes an API button and the agreement includes clauses on API keys and rate limits, so an API is intended. In practice the documentation it links to, at e.hidreamai.com, returns a 404, and so does the whole subdomain. Treat API access as unverified until the publisher republishes its documentation.
Does Pixmaker publish a privacy policy, and where is my data hosted?
No privacy policy is reachable from pixmaker.ai. The only readable contractual document is the User Service Agreement of 30 May 2024, which does not cover personal data, retention or hosting. No hosting country or region is published either, and the site's IP address belongs to a Google anycast node that serves the website, not the stored files.
Are payments refundable?
No. The agreement states that, unless it provides otherwise, payments are non-refundable, and that prices may change with immediate effect. Using the free tier and the 50 sign-up credits to judge the output before subscribing is therefore the prudent route.
Which languages and integrations are supported?
The showcase site is in English and the application ships two locales, English and Chinese. A Shoplazza integration is wired into the code with its own purchase path, and size presets are provided for Amazon, eBay, Shopee, Lazada, Shopify, Vinted, Depop and Poshmark.
Conclusion

Should you pick Pixmaker?

Pixmaker answers a real, well-identified e-commerce need. Its three functions — backgrounds, on-model apparel and background removal — fit together, batch processing suits catalogues that turn over quickly, and the marketplace size presets show a tool built by people who know where these images end up. Access is immediate, no design skills are required, regeneration is unlimited, and the agreement recognises the user's ownership of the generated images, resale included. Behind the product stands HiDream.ai, a heavily funded parent, which lowers the risk of an abrupt shutdown.

Against that sits an almost complete documentary opacity. No public pricing: the grid exists only behind a login and the pricing endpoints answer 401. No accessible privacy policy, no GDPR mention, no DPA, no sub-processor list, no certification and no published hosting country. No company name, no postal address, no legal notice — three distinct entities can be inferred from outside sources, none confirmed by the site. Payments are non-refundable, prices may change immediately, the API documentation promoted in the interface returns a 404, and the only contact point is hello@pixmaker.ai, shown on the Enterprise plan card. The single contractual document that can actually be read is the User Service Agreement of 30 May 2024.

Whether that trade-off is acceptable depends on your requirements. For a solo seller or a small brand testing the tool with the 50 free credits and judging the visuals on their merits, the risk is contained and the productivity gain real. For a company subject to GDPR, to a procurement review or to a data localisation rule, the missing pieces are not details: they are the file itself, and there is nothing to put in it.
