Overview

What is Product Metrics?

Product Metrics is a Dutch software-as-a-service platform built around one conviction: Google Shopping and Performance Max have become black boxes that hand budget to whichever product generates clicks rather than whichever product generates profit. Its answer is segmentation at SKU level.

The engine is called the Labelizer. It pulls performance data from Google Ads and GA4, combines it with information Google never sees, namely gross margin, competitor pricing, delivery times, return rates and stock health, then sorts the catalogue into performance classes borrowed from the BCG matrix: Stars, Cashcows, Question Marks, Dogs, plus what the vendor calls Drainers. Where rival tools read only historical ad performance, Product Metrics claims to follow a product from ad click through to purchase.

Four modules sit on top. Product Segments handles the segmentation itself and lets you set performance windows, minimum data thresholds and category logic instead of accepting fixed rules. Product Score compresses margin, price competitiveness, delivery speed, return rate and inventory health into a single 0 to 100 ranking. Product Rules adds a conditional layer, with AND/OR conditions on any connected data column, so a high-margin item can be pushed above a pure ROAS winner and a heavily returned SKU quietly demoted. Product Potential forecasts the additional revenue available from raising impression share on the best segments, and the projected cost of capturing it. A fifth view, PMax Insights, decomposes Performance Max by placement and channel.

Everything ends in the same place: labels written back into the product feed, where they drive bidding, budget allocation and campaign structure. A live preview shows the effect across the whole catalogue before anything is applied.

The company is young. The domain was registered in May 2025, the first web archive capture dates from January 2026, and it was founded by Berend Vrakking, previously at Reprise Digital, KINESSO NL and Omnicom Media Nederland. The headline claims are ambitious: 25% more ROAS from machine-learning segmentation and 20% from a Conversion Booster, neither backed by a published methodology. A free break-even ROAS calculator sits on the site, usable without an account.

What it does

  • Segments an entire product catalogue into performance classes: Stars, Cashcows, Question Marks, Dogs and Drainers
  • Scores every product from 0 to 100 on margin, price competitiveness, delivery speed, return rate and stock health
  • Applies conditional business rules that can override pure ROAS ranking
  • Synchronises the resulting labels back into the product feed
  • Breaks Performance Max down by placement, channel and product market share
  • Forecasts the extra revenue available on the best products and the cost of capturing it
  • Flags where Google is spending budget on products that do not earn it

When to use Product Metrics / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Product Metrics is the right fit.

When to use Product Metrics

  • E-commerce advertisers running significant Google Shopping or Performance Max budgets across large catalogues
  • Performance and paid media specialists who suspect a healthy blended ROAS is hiding loss-making SKUs
  • Retailers sitting on first-party margin, return rate, delivery time and stock data they cannot currently feed into Google Ads
  • Agencies and freelance PPC consultants handling several advertiser accounts, since account linking is unlimited even on the free plan
  • Merchandisers and category planners who want budget priority to follow business value rather than click volume

When not to use Product Metrics

  • Advertisers working outside Google, as nothing here touches Meta, Amazon, TikTok or marketplace advertising
  • Search or Display campaigns without a product feed, since every feature reasons at SKU level
  • Businesses with no Google Ads account and no Merchant Center feed to connect
  • Buyers expecting a managed service: support is self-service and the vendor never touches your ad accounts
  • Small advertisers spending under 25,000 euros a month, for whom the free tier already covers the useful ground
Get started

How to use Product Metrics

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Open app.productmetrics.io and sign in with Google; there is nothing to install, and the product pages advertise no credit card at this stage
  2. Link your Google Ads accounts and your Merchant Center feed, with no limit on the number of accounts even on the free plan
  3. Run the free analysis of the whole catalogue to see the Stars, Cashcows, Question Marks and Dogs, and where budget is leaking
  4. Import or synchronise enriched first-party data by CSV, feed or SFTP: margin, return rate, delivery time, stock levels, competitor price
  5. Map your own columns onto the metrics the platform expects
  6. Tune the segmentation with performance windows, minimum data thresholds, category logic, seasonality and strategic priorities
  7. Weight the Product Score across price competitiveness, margin, delivery speed, return rate and inventory health
  8. Write Product Rules combining AND/OR conditions on attributes, metrics, score or any connected column, and set Category Priority to high, medium or low
  9. Preview the result across the entire catalogue before applying anything
  10. Generate the optimised feed, the step that starts billing on the Pro plan, then rebuild campaign structure and ROAS floors around the synced labels

  • EU publisher under Dutch law, with a designated DPO and explicitly stated GDPR rights

Cons

  • Google only: no Meta, Amazon, TikTok or marketplace coverage
  • No public API, no developer documentation, no mobile app and no browser extension
  • No DPA published or offered, and no subprocessor list
  • No hosting country or region disclosed; Supabase is named as a technology, without a location
  • Nothing published on whether customer data is used to train models, and no opt-out mechanism

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Product Metrics handles your data.

GDPR overview

The commitments are explicit rather than certified. The privacy policy states that personal data is processed in accordance with the GDPR on the basis of explicit consent or another valid legal basis, and lists the rights available: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and withdrawal of consent at any time. A Data Protection Officer is designated and reachable at support@productmetrics.io, the same address as general support. Deletion requests are honoured promptly and explicitly extend to data obtained through the Google APIs and stored in connected systems, subject to legal retention duties. The publisher is established in the Netherlands, so no Article 27 representative is required and none is named; Dutch law governs and disputes go to the Amsterdam courts. No effective date appears on the policy, and neither a DPA nor a subprocessor list is published.

Who owns the data?

The terms leave ownership with the customer and grant Product Metrics only a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to access and process that data strictly in order to deliver the service. Customers may not withdraw that access while the agreement runs if doing so prevents delivery. Platform data is treated as confidential and is not shared with third parties without explicit consent, and the privacy policy adds that no personal Google account data is stored or shared beyond what service delivery requires. One reservation deserves attention: the vendor may use your logo and brand name in customer listings and marketing materials unless you object in writing.

Reuse rights

Reuse runs the other way here. The customer supplies the data and keeps it, while Product Metrics takes only the working licence it needs to run the service. Nothing in the terms restricts what customers do with the segments, scores and labels the platform produces, and those outputs are written straight back into the merchant's own product feed and campaign structure. Inbound access is deliberately narrow: the Google Ads API for campaign performance, the Content API for Shopping for Merchant Center listings, and Google profile and email data for authentication, all through OAuth2 and limited to the scopes required. Aggregated, non-personal statistics such as most-searched products or average session time may be shared with partners or advertisers; personally identifiable data is not, absent explicit consent or a legal obligation.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Personal data is kept only as long as the stated purposes and legal obligations require. The one concrete rule published is a quarterly clean-up: every three months the publisher removes personal data collected through the newsletter and trial forms, dropping records where the recipient has stopped interacting, unless the law requires otherwise. The same treatment explicitly covers data obtained through the Google APIs and stored in connected systems. Deletion can also be requested at any time and is described as being carried out promptly, unless a legal obligation or a legitimate business reason requires retention. No figures are given for campaign data or for imported product data, and no anonymisation timetable is published.

Hosting summary

No hosting country or region is disclosed anywhere on the site. The only technical statement appears in the privacy policy: Supabase is used with Row-Level Security and JSON Web Token protections to control access to stored data. That names a technology rather than a location, and Supabase itself operates across several regions. What can be established is jurisdictional rather than physical. The publisher is a company registered in the Netherlands, at Tsjerkepaed 1 in Deinum, and the terms place the agreement under Dutch law with disputes heard in Amsterdam. Data therefore falls under EU law and the GDPR whatever the physical location of the servers. No security certification is claimed, neither SOC 2 nor ISO 27001, and there is no trust or security page. The marketing site itself runs on Framer behind Cloudflare, which says nothing about where application data is stored. Organisations with data residency requirements should ask before connecting a Merchant Center feed, since nothing published allows the question to be answered.

Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Product Metrics.

  • The product pages repeat "No Creditcard required" while the terms require a valid payment method to start the 30-day trial: read both before signing up
  • The trial converts automatically into a paid subscription unless cancelled, and no refunds are issued afterwards or for partial periods
  • A failed payment triggers a 25 EUR administration fee, and service and data access can be suspended after 30 days of non-payment
  • Total liability is capped at the amount paid over the past 12 months, up to a maximum of 1,000 EUR
  • The vendor may use your logo and brand name in its customer listings and marketing materials unless you object in writing
  • Handing margin, return and stock data to a third party deserves a moment's thought when no DPA, subprocessor list or hosting location is published
  • Automated labels can turn into a habit: a score is only as sound as the data mapped into it, and a preview is no substitute for understanding why a product was demoted
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Low to start, moderate to exploit. Signing in with Google takes a moment and the first catalogue analysis needs no configuration at all. The work begins afterwards: enriched data has to arrive by CSV, feed or SFTP and its columns mapped onto the expected metrics, then performance windows, score weightings and AND/OR rules have to be set deliberately. The live preview lowers the risk considerably. Acting on the output still means reworking your Google Ads campaign structure. Support is self-service, with 24-hour Slack support advertised on the free plan.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which advertising channels does Product Metrics work on?
Google Shopping and Performance Max only, through the Google Ads API and the Merchant Center Content API for Shopping. There is no coverage of Meta, Amazon, TikTok or marketplaces.
Is there a free plan, or only a trial?
There is a permanent free plan. It analyses an unlimited number of products, allows unlimited Google Ads accounts to be linked, identifies Stars, Cashcows, Question Marks and Dogs, covers product category and custom label analysis, and includes 24-hour Slack support.
How is the paid plan billed?
As a percentage of monthly Google Shopping ad spend, applied in tiers. Nothing is charged below 25,000 EUR a month, then the rate starts at 0.60% and falls to 0.05% at the highest volumes. Billing only begins once you generate an optimised feed.
What does the 30-day free trial commit me to?
The terms require a valid payment method to start it, and the trial converts automatically into a paid subscription unless it is cancelled beforehand. No refunds are issued once the trial has expired, nor for partial billing periods.
What data do I need to supply?
A Google Ads account and a Merchant Center feed as a minimum. Optional first-party data such as margin, return rate, delivery time, stock levels and competitor price is imported by CSV, feed or SFTP, then mapped onto the platform's metrics.
What does the platform actually produce?
Performance segments named Stars, Cashcows, Question Marks, Dogs and Drainers, a 0 to 100 Product Score for each item, and category priorities. All of it is written back into the product feed as labels that drive bidding and budget allocation.
Can I test a segmentation before applying it?
Yes. A live preview shows how products score and segment across the entire catalogue before any change is pushed to the feed.
Is there an API or a mobile app?
No. Product Metrics is a web application. No API documentation is published and there is no iOS or Android app.
Who is behind the tool, and under which law does it operate?
A Dutch company registered at Tsjerkepaed 1, 9033WT Deinum, business number 97460788, founded by Berend Vrakking. The terms are governed by Dutch law, with disputes heard by the courts of Amsterdam.
How do I exercise my GDPR rights?
Write to the Data Protection Officer at support@productmetrics.io. Deletion is carried out on request and explicitly extends to data obtained through the Google APIs, subject to legal retention obligations.
Conclusion

Should you pick Product Metrics?

Product Metrics is a deliberately narrow tool, and that is its strength. It attacks a single problem, namely how Google Shopping and Performance Max allocate budget across individual products, and it attacks it with information Google does not have: gross margin, return rates, stock health, delivery speed and competitor pricing. For a retailer whose blended ROAS looks acceptable while a quarter of the catalogue quietly loses money, that is exactly the gap worth closing.

The commercial design is unusually fair. The free plan is not a teaser: it analyses the entire catalogue across unlimited linked accounts, and billing only starts when you generate an optimised feed. Above that threshold the price is a shrinking percentage of ad spend, so the tool costs roughly what it is worth to the size of advertiser using it.

What you accept in return is a young and very small publisher. The domain dates from May 2025 and a single web archive capture exists, from January 2026. The paperwork reflects that: no DPA, no subprocessor list, no stated hosting country, and no position on whether customer data is used to train models. Contact runs through one email address hidden behind Cloudflare protection, with no contact page and no social presence. The headline promises, 25% more ROAS from segmentation and 20% from the Conversion Booster, are vendor claims with no published methodology behind them.

The practical verdict is straightforward. If you spend meaningfully on Google Shopping and hold first-party margin and returns data you cannot currently act on, the free tier costs nothing to evaluate and will tell you quickly whether the premise holds for your catalogue. If you need contractual guarantees on data processing, or advertise anywhere other than Google, look elsewhere.
