What is LMO?
LMO is the trading name of LIFT ME OFF LTD, a company incorporated in the United Kingdom on 26 July 2018, with its registered office in Reading and an operational base opened in 2020 at the Technoport incubator in Esch-Belval, Luxembourg. Until January 2026 the site presented itself as LMO Autonomous Space Systems and rested on three pillars: services, software and hardware.
The AI strand sits in the software pillar. Its stated first product was the SSA Payload, a single unit combining space sensors with computer vision so that a satellite can process imagery in orbit and understand what surrounds it, rather than shipping pictures to the ground and waiting. LMO described this as In-Situ Space Situational Awareness, and drew an explicit analogy with the autonomy used in self-driving cars.
Three distinct pieces of software were published. SDA (space domain awareness) fuses information from several sensors to detect, identify and characterise objects, then issues priority reports for a decision taken either on the ground or autonomously in orbit. RPO handles close-proximity operations, where accuracy and speed govern a safe approach to a target. GNC manages the spacecraft's dynamics alongside attitude control through a centralised architecture. Processing was split across three tiers: on-edge at the moment of capture, on-board to send back actionable metrics, and on the ground for later analysis.
The work has real institutional backing. LMO has partnered since 2020 with the SnT at the University of Luxembourg, whose CVI2 computer vision group is led by Professor Djamila Aouada, and it holds an ESA contract, DIOSSA, funded by the Luxembourg government through LuxIMPULSE. The UK Space Agency funded machine learning work to tell satellites apart from debris, which the BBC covered.
One caveat dominates everything else. Since the March 2026 redesign the site sells propulsion hardware only, and the software pages now return 404. Only a page last edited in June 2023 still mentions autonomous SDA.

The autonomy proposition is coherent and well argued: put the vision processing on the spacecraft, let it decide, and stop treating a satellite as blind between ground passes.
The difficulty is availability. The SDA, RPO and GNC software range has been removed from the site. Its page returned content in March 2025 and returns 404 today. Everything the publisher now shows, including three datasheets dated March 2026, concerns propulsion hardware: thrusters, tanks and pointing mechanisms, with no mention of AI. The only surviving page that still speaks of autonomous space domain awareness has not been touched since June 2023, and its own contact link is broken.
That gap should not be read as a failing company. LIFT ME OFF LTD is active on the UK register, and its public positioning has simply moved to agile propulsion for space and defence. What has changed is the shop window, not the health of the business.
