What is Producely Dialr?
Dialr is a hardware plugin controller made by Producely ApS, a small Copenhagen company for which it is the first product. It is really three inseparable parts: the desk unit, a companion desktop application called N.O.D.E. — Network Orchestrator of Devices and Events — and the Producely AI Cloud that does the mapping work.
The problem it attacks is old and thoroughly mundane. Load a plugin, and the knobs on a generic controller mean nothing until somebody assigns them; that assignment then breaks the moment the next plugin opens. Dialr removes the step entirely. It has learned to treat Mix, Blend and Dry/Wet as the same idea, so a given function tends to land in the same physical place from one plugin to the next. Each profile generated for one owner is pushed to every other Dialr in the world, which is the sense in which Producely says the device gets smarter as the network grows.
The hardware is deliberately plain. Twelve analogue potentiometers sit in two rows in three different sizes, so a hand can find them without looking; there are two clickable step encoders, three buttons for undo, redo and bypass, and a seven-inch touchscreen showing parameter names and live values. The chassis is solid aluminium, sized for a 4U rack, 270 mm across and 176.8 mm deep, and it connects over the supplied USB-C cable.
Dialr addresses the host through the DAW's native plugin API rather than MIDI, which Producely presents as the reason for its resolution and responsiveness. It currently runs with Ableton Live 12, Cubase 14.0.10 and Logic Pro 12.2 on macOS 14 or Windows 10 and later, in VST3 and AU formats, with more than 50,000 plugins said to work out of the box. Producely never writes that it is GDPR compliant, but the framework is plainly applied. Who owns the data?
Producely ApS names itself the data controller for personal information in a privacy policy last updated on 21 July 2026. That policy governs the online shop only: browsing, account creation, orders and marketing. It does not describe ownership of anything the Dialr unit or the AI Cloud handles. On the product side, the site states that plugin profiles a user customises are private, stored on that user's own machine and accessible to nobody else. That is a transfer clause, not a hosting declaration, and no country or region is named. Two technical observations should not be mistaken for one: the shop runs on Shopify, named in the policy as a service provider, and the N.O.D.E. installers are served from Azure Blob Storage, which is file distribution rather than user-data hosting. Three supported DAWs, two plugin formats and a handful of major vendors whose wrappers still need case-by-case work make for a narrow envelope, and Producely says so itself on a publicly maintained list of known issues — a candour worth crediting. The documentation of the product is careful; the documentation of the data is not.
