What is TeltoHeart?
TeltoHeart is a medical-grade heart monitoring wristband built by UAB TELTONIKA TELEMEDIC, the health arm of the Lithuanian Teltonika group. It is deliberately not a wellness tracker: it carries CE MDR Class IIa medical device certification, awarded in May 2024, and is sold as a clinical instrument you happen to wear all day.
The product is really three pieces working together. The wristband carries two sensors on the front and four on the back, arranged so that three physical electrodes form Einthoven's triangle. From those contact points it records leads I, II and III and derives aVR, aVL and aVF, producing a six-lead electrocardiogram where most smartwatches capture a single lead and therefore a single view of the heart's electrical activity. Between recordings it tracks heart rate continuously using photoplethysmography, along with blood oxygen saturation and step count. The device is rated IP67 against dust and water and is designed for continuous everyday wear.
The second piece is the TeltoHeart mobile application, available for iPhone and Android in seventeen interface languages. It pairs with the wristband and forwards recordings onward. The third is TeltoCare, a web platform where the wearer reviews their own data and, with explicit consent, opens the last three months of history to a healthcare provider.
What underpins the clinical claim is an algorithm developed with Kaunas University of Technology and Vilnius University Hospital. The vendor states 94.2% accuracy for atrial fibrillation detection in everyday conditions and points to two peer-reviewed papers in Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine: one from 2022 on combining photoplethysmography with six-lead ECG for atrial fibrillation detection, one from 2023 comparing six-lead and single-lead recordings.

GDPR overview
GDPR implementation is concrete and documented. The TeltoHeart Privacy Policy, last updated 23 August 2023, names its legal bases (contract performance, legitimate interest, legal obligation, consent) and lists the full set of data subject rights, with a one-month response deadline extendable by two months. Transfers outside the EEA rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses under Article 46(2)(c) GDPR, and the group's published Data Processing Agreement adds the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where applicable, names every sub-processor in Annex C, and gives customers advance notice plus a five-day right to object to changes. A Data Protection Officer can be reached at privacy@teltonika.lt. No Article 27 representative is designated, and none is required: the company is established in Lithuania.
Who owns the data?
UAB TELTONIKA TELEMEDIC is the controller for data collected through the wristband, the mobile app and the TeltoCare platform, and it keeps ownership of the software: users receive only a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence, and all product content and trademarks remain the vendor's. The personal data itself stays the wearer's, with rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent. The picture flips when the wristband reaches you through a clinic: the vendor then acts as a processor, the provider's own privacy statement applies instead, and data subject requests must be addressed to that provider rather than to Teltonika.
Reuse rights
Wearers may reuse their own health data freely and without asking permission. TeltoCare lets them generate and save a health report, share it by email or any other method agreed with their doctor, or simply display it on screen during a consultation. What cannot be reused is the product itself: the terms forbid copying, republishing, reverse engineering, redistributing or scraping any software, content, trademark or interface element, and reserve all rights not expressly granted. On the vendor's side, data serves account creation, service delivery, product development, marketing, investigations, legal compliance, automated processing and system improvement, and may be shared with service providers, group companies, competent authorities, external auditors, advertising partners and, in aggregated non-identifying form, with academic institutions for research.

The group's Data Processing Agreement states in Article 6.1 that customer data is transferred, stored and processed in Lithuania, or in any other country where the vendor or its sub-processors operate. The TeltoHeart Privacy Policy adds that the company and the independent controllers it works with are usually located in European Union member states and store data in EU countries. Annex C of the Data Processing Agreement names each sub-processor with its location: Amazon Web Services EMEA (Europe, hosting infrastructure), Google (Europe, marketing, analytics and Firebase messaging), Sentry (Europe, error tracking), Kibana (Europe, log visualisation), MailerLite (Europe, service emails), NextCloud (Europe, support file storage) and CloudTalk in the United States.
