Opally
Opally is a Danish AI agent platform for hotels: it answers guest emails, website chat and phone calls in seconds, around the clock, in the property's own tone, using live rates and availability pulled straight from the PMS.
What is Opally?
Opally is a suite of AI agents built for one industry: hotels. It is published by Opally ApS, a Copenhagen company registered on 20 October 2025 and founded by Gustav Søgård, who started building it while working a Danish hotel front desk and watching receptionists disappear under admin.
The product runs on three agents. Email AI writes replies inside the team's existing Gmail or Outlook inbox, pre-filled with the guest's name, dates, room type and the policies that apply. Chat AI covers the website widget plus WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram DM and SMS. Voice AI picks up the phone around the clock. Four companion products sit alongside them: lead forms, review replies, an AI visibility tracker and a mobile guest portal.
What ties it together is a live PMS connection. Opally reads rates, availability, guest profiles and reservations in real time, so an answer quotes what the property is actually selling rather than a generic script. Three technical pillars support that: Personalisation learns the hotel's tone from its own website, Knowledge ingests PDFs, menus, policies and FAQs with source citations, and Learning improves from the corrections staff make - a feature the hotel can switch off.
Humans stay in the loop by design. Most output arrives as a draft the team approves, and anything ambiguous or sensitive escalates automatically. Agent Actions go a step further, letting the agent change bookings on its own inside thresholds the hotel configures. Getting started is advertised at five minutes to connect the systems, with most hotels fully operational within a day.
Coverage is broad: more than 100 languages on the guest side, more than 70 for voice, with automatic language detection. The company reports 50+ hotels, thousands of requests handled every week, 95% of conversations reaching a resolution and under 1% of guests leaving frustrated. A public API opened on 19 March 2026 for analytics, conversations and leads, and an iPhone app is included in every subscription.
On security, Opally states TLS 1.2+ in transit, AES-256 at rest, Admin and Staff role-based access, multi-factor authentication and EU hosting, and displays Microsoft AI Cloud Partner and CASA Tier 2 badges.
What it does
- Drafts replies to guest emails inside the hotel's existing Gmail or Outlook inbox
- Runs a website chat that quotes live availability and current rates
- Answers the phone day and night with a natural-sounding voice
- Handles WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram DM and SMS in the same unified flow
- Writes responses to Google and Tripadvisor reviews, critical ones included
- Captures and qualifies leads through enquiry forms styled in the hotel's colours
- Carries out Agent Actions: booking changes made autonomously within the limits the hotel sets

A quick filter to help you decide if Opally is the right fit.
When to use Opally
- Independent hotels, boutique properties, spas and manor houses whose front desk is buried under the same repetitive emails: Wi-Fi codes, check-in times, parking and breakfast questions
- Properties without a 24/7 reception, which currently lose night and weekend enquiries simply because nobody is there to answer them
- Hotels already running a supported PMS such as Mews, Apaleo, Opera Cloud, Techotel or Spectra, and wanting replies that quote real availability and real rates
- Multilingual operations fielding guest requests in more than 100 languages, from Danish and Swedish to German, French and Spanish
- Hotel groups and chains standardising guest communication across several properties, from city hotels to resorts - Sinatur, Absalon Hotel Group and Cavo Tagoo are among the customers named on the site
When not to use Opally
- Consumers and private individuals: the terms of service restrict Opally to business use only
- Companies outside hospitality - the product is shaped around hotels and restaurants, not a general-purpose office assistant
- Properties with no PMS or booking engine to connect: Opally's own comparison guide states that the best results require a PMS integration
- Teams hoping to take humans out of the loop entirely, since most output arrives as a draft staff still review and unusual requests escalate by design
- Anyone looking for a permanently free tool or an Android app: the trial stops after 14 days or 200 AI replies, and mobile means iPhone only
How to use Opally
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Connect your systems - a PMS such as Mews, Apaleo or Opera Cloud, plus Gmail or Outlook. Opally advertises five minutes and no code.
- Let Opally read your website: it pulls out room types, dining, spa, highlights and the tone you already write in.
- Review and adjust what it has learned. This step is optional, but it is where you correct anything the site got wrong about you.
- Fill the knowledge base with PDFs, menus, policies and FAQs so answers cite a real source.
- Install the Gmail or Outlook tile so drafts appear where your team already works.
- Add the chat widget to your site with a single script tag.
- Switch the agents on channel by channel: email first, then web chat, then calls.
- Read the drafts in the dashboard or straight from your inbox, correct them and send - each correction feeds Learning, if you have it enabled.
- Enable Email Autopilot workflow by workflow; it drops back to draft mode whenever a request is ambiguous, sensitive or outside what it knows.
- Use the iPhone app to approve agent actions and follow emails, chats and calls away from the desk; generate an API key in the dashboard if you want programmatic access.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- All three guest channels in one product - email, web chat and phone - where several competitors named in Opally's own comparison guide cover only one
- A live PMS connection, so answers quote real availability and real prices instead of a static FAQ
- A dense hospitality integration catalogue: eight PMSs, seven booking engines, two OTAs and two review platforms
- Setup measured in minutes rather than projects - no consultants, no code, no setup fees - with support answering within 24 hours on business days
- A serious privacy posture for a company this size: EU hosting, a publicly downloadable DPA, TLS 1.2+ and AES-256, MFA, CASA Tier 2 and Microsoft AI Cloud Partner status
- Guest emails are never stored, and learning from your content sits behind an explicit switch you control
- Prices are published openly, the 14-day trial needs no card, you can cancel at any time, the iPhone app costs nothing extra, and a public API lets you pull your analytics, conversations and leads back out
Cons
- A very young publisher: Opally ApS was registered in October 2025 and closed its first angel round in March 2026, and its own comparison guide concedes it is newer to market than several competitors
- Pricing scales with room count, so the bill grows with the property - and Voice AI, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and unlimited users are Pro-only
- No permanent free plan: the trial stops at 14 days or 200 AI replies, and there is no self-serve demo page either, only a booking calendar
- Fewer supported languages than HiJiffy, by Opally's own admission
- No Android app at all - mobile means iPhone only
- The list of sub-processors is not published, only supplied on request; no hosting country is named beyond "the EU"; and no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 audit is claimed
- Contract terms lean towards the vendor: subscriptions are non-refundable, prices can change on 30 days' notice, liability is capped at 12 months of fees and the platform is supplied as is - while the customer stays responsible for reviewing generated content, setting Agent Action thresholds and complying with local call-recording law
Pricing & Plans
There is no permanently free plan. Opally is priced per room, per month: the entry-level Starter plan costs 29 DKK per room per month and Pro costs 49 DKK per room per month, while Enterprise is quoted on request. The pricing page illustrates this with a default 25-room property - 725 DKK per month on Starter, 1,225 DKK per month on Pro - and offers a slider from 1 to 200 rooms; Opally's own comparison guide quotes the equivalent as from 4 EUR per room per month. The AI Visibility module is a flat 349 DKK per month for up to 25 prompts checked weekly across ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. A 14-day free trial is available without a card, capped at 200 AI replies across all channels. Subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or annually, renew automatically, carry no setup fees and can be cancelled at any time; amounts paid are non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise, and any price change comes with 30 days' notice. The guest portal and the iPhone app are included in every plan.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Opally handles your data.
GDPR overview
Opally ApS runs a dedicated GDPR page stating that it complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation and Danish data protection law. It takes a dual role: processor for the hotels whose guest data it handles, controller for staff accounts, billing and logs. An Article 28 data processing agreement is concluded with every hotel and published as a downloadable PDF. The list of sub-processors is not published, but the company says it will supply it on request. Rights are spelled out - access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent - through info@opally.dk, answered within one month, with complaints going to Datatilsynet. Transfers outside the EEA rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. No data protection officer is named, and no Article 27 representative applies. Privacy policy updated 30 July 2026, GDPR page 14 July 2025.
Who owns the data?
Opally's terms are explicit that the customer keeps full ownership of its Customer Data, including the AI-generated email drafts. Opally owns the platform itself - software, AI models and design - and takes a free, worldwide, perpetual licence over any feedback a customer sends it. Under the GDPR the roles are split: Opally acts as processor when it handles guest data on the hotel's behalf, and as controller for staff accounts, billing and technical logs. A separate data processing agreement is signed with every customer and published as a PDF. On termination, customer data can be exported as CSV or JSON, with assistance available for up to 30 days.
Reuse rights
Because the hotel owns both its Customer Data and the AI drafts, it can reuse, edit, send and export that content freely, with no permission to ask for. Opally itself uses personal data for a declared set of purposes: running the service, support, billing and accounting, security and abuse prevention, product development and analytics, and marketing where consent has been given. The legal bases cited are contract, legal obligation, legitimate interest and consent. The company states it never sells personal data, and that product development works on anonymised or aggregated data where possible. Guest emails are not stored at all; AI drafts are kept only when the Learning feature is switched on and the hotel has accepted it, so personalisation stays under a control the customer can flip. Voice calls may be recorded and transcribed, and informing callers is the hotel's responsibility. Transfers outside the EEA rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Opally states that data is stored in European data centres with a GDPR focus, but it never names a country, a specific region within the EU or a hosting provider: the claim stops at "the EU". Encryption is TLS 1.2+ in transit and AES-256 at rest. Access is controlled through Admin and Staff roles with multi-factor authentication, and the API keys and tokens for connected customer systems are stored encrypted. The GDPR page adds regular backups and system monitoring. Two storage choices matter as much as the location: guest emails are not stored at all, and AI drafts are retained only when the Learning feature is switched on. Transfers outside the EEA - the United States being the case cited - are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses, so EU storage should not be read as a guarantee that nothing ever leaves the bloc. Opally ApS is established in Denmark, and Datatilsynet is the supervisory authority.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Opally.
- Agent Actions change real bookings on their own. The approval thresholds are yours to set and monitor, and the terms state that Opally is not liable for booking changes made within the parameters you configured.
- Voice AI may record and transcribe calls. Telling callers and meeting local recording law is the hotel's responsibility, not Opally's.
- Everything the AI writes still needs a human read before it reaches a guest. A fluent, confident, wrong answer about a rate or a cancellation policy is a commercial problem, and a team that stops reading drafts closely will drift towards rubber-stamping them.
- The list of sub-processors is not published. It exists, and Opally says it will hand it over on request, but you cannot review the chain before you sign.
- Hosting is described only as the EU, with no country or provider named, and transfers outside the EEA - the United States is the case cited - remain possible under the Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
- Commercial terms favour the vendor: total liability is capped at the fees paid over the previous 12 months, the service is supplied as is with no uptime guarantee, subscriptions are non-refundable and prices can change on 30 days' notice.
- The badges on display - Microsoft AI Cloud Partner, CASA Tier 2 - are not security audits in the SOC 2 or ISO 27001 sense, and the publisher was only registered in October 2025, so there is little evidence yet on long-term viability.
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low. Opally advertises being up and running in minutes: connecting the PMS and the mailbox is described as five minutes with no code, over OAuth for some partners. You install a Gmail or Outlook tile and add the chat widget with a single script tag, with hands-on help from Opally during onboarding, and most hotels are said to be fully operational within a day. An API key is self-generated in the dashboard. The real prerequisite is not skill but a supported PMS or booking engine - a custom integration is available if yours is not in the catalogue.

Should you pick Opally?
Opally is a narrow product, and that is the point: it is built for hotels, not as a general-purpose assistant. Its clearest strength is bringing three channels - email, web chat and phone - together on top of a live PMS connection, so the answer a guest receives quotes real availability and real prices instead of a static FAQ. For a property already running Mews, Apaleo, Opera Cloud or another supported system, and already drowning in the same twenty questions every week, that combination earns its keep.
Maturity is the counterweight. Opally ApS was registered in October 2025, closed its first angel round in spring 2026 and reports 50+ hotels. There is little track record to lean on, and the company's own comparison guide admits it is newer than some rivals and supports fewer languages than HiJiffy.
The compliance framework is stronger than the company's age would suggest: EU hosting, a publicly downloadable DPA signed with every hotel, TLS 1.2+ and AES-256, role-based access and MFA, plus a clear statement that guest emails are not stored and that learning sits behind a switch. The gaps deserve noting rather than dramatising - the sub-processor list exists but is only supplied on request, no hosting country is named beyond the EU, and no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 audit is claimed.
Practically, pricing runs per room per month, so the economics shift with property size, and there is no Android app. Opally is a strong candidate for a hospitality operator with a supported PMS, a heavy load of repetitive enquiries and a team willing to review AI drafts. It is the wrong fit for anyone outside hospitality, anyone wanting a free tool, or anyone hoping to remove humans from the loop altogether.
