GDPR overview
Viking Analytics AB acts as data controller and its privacy policy, last updated 13 August 2026, is unusually concrete. Legal bases are stated purpose by purpose under Article 6: consent for marketing and analytics, contract for delivering the app, legitimate interest for diagnostics and security, legal obligation for accounting. Data subject rights are enumerated — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent — with a 30-day response commitment by e-mail, and the Swedish supervisory authority IMY is named with its phone number. Six subprocessors are published with their countries: HubSpot, Google, Calendly, Cloudflare, Webflow and Auth0. Transfers outside the EEA rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Security measures, 72-hour breach notification and a Data Processing Agreement in Appendix 1 of the partner terms complete the picture. No Article 27 representative applies, the publisher being established in Sweden.
Who owns the data?
The end-user licence terms are explicit that the customer keeps its own data: Viking Analytics and any reselling supplier acquire no right, title or interest in Customer Data, and the customer remains responsible for its accuracy, quality and legality. The same clause, however, reserves for Viking the right to use and exploit any and all models trained on that data, including incorporating those models into its own software products, with no obligation to the customer. Access to the raw data is limited to what delivering the service requires, or what the law demands. On the partner side, the general terms go further, allowing Viking to use customer and partner data to improve existing products and develop new ones.
Reuse rights
Nothing in the published terms restricts what a customer does with its own sensor data; ownership stays with the customer. Getting data out is part of the product: white-label PDF reports can be pushed to a CMMS, e-mail or shared portals, and data moves in and out over secure API connections, MQTT, cloud-to-cloud links and CSV/JSON batch files. In the other direction, Viking Analytics uses the data to run the service and keep it secure and stable, and — under the partner general terms — to improve its products and develop new ones, a right the partner must obtain from its own customers. Session recording inside the app is pseudonymised, honours the browser Do Not Track signal, masks passwords, financial details and authentication tokens, and can be disabled through browser settings. No published mechanism lets a customer exclude its data from model training.

Viking Analytics names only one hosting location, and it is narrow: under clause 6 of the licence terms, session recording data is stored on the vendor's own infrastructure within the European Union and shared with no third party. Its strongest arguments are consistent — hardware agnosticism across more than fifty brands, no thresholds or fault libraries to maintain, and an explicit commitment to explainability, with every alert carrying the spectrum shift and confidence level behind it. The white-label reporting and the partner programme show the vendor has thought about service providers as much as about plant owners, and the monthly release notes and detailed knowledge base indicate a product under active development rather than a demo.
