Overview

What is S2data Platform?

S2data Platform is transport and network planning software built by S2data GmbH, a company based in Graz, Austria, whose team combines mathematicians, software engineers and logistics practitioners. The product positions itself as an AI for transport planning covering the strategic, tactical and operational horizons, and its stated span runs from the shape of the distribution network down to the inside of a single trailer.

The platform is deliberately modular: six modules share one optimisation engine, and a customer can start with whichever one addresses the most pressing problem. MRP Inbound Optimization makes delivery call-offs predictable, consolidating them with AI and folding routing and load planning into the same pass to cut empty running. 3D Load Space Optimization computes how pallets, cases and reels should actually sit in a vehicle, displays the resulting fill rate in three dimensions and hands the loading sequence to the routing step. Route and Freight Rate Optimization builds economically viable tours even with high volumes, bulky goods and tight windows, combining an in-house fleet with subcontracted carriers on established vehicle routing methods. Network Optimization produces consolidation and transport strategies and supports carrier selection on cost and performance parameters. Tour Planning handles routes, fleet deployment and loading sequences while respecting time windows and statutory driving and rest periods. Freight Audit AI checks freight invoices automatically, reconciles cost items and produces CO2e figures for reporting and tenders.

What ties these together is the constraint set: axle loads, stackability, time windows, ramp slots and JIT/JIS requirements are modelled rather than handled after the fact, and results come back with validation flags and file exports such as PDF pickup sheets and 3D assets.

Delivery is cloud SaaS, with an API that exposes the whole engine headlessly so the planning can be driven from an existing ERP, TMS or WMS. The publisher advertises 25% lower transport costs, 20% lower CO2 emissions and fully automated planning, and names customers including Yanfeng, Magna, AVI and Duvenbeck. Prices are not published.

What it does

  • Turn MRP delivery call-offs into consolidated, transport-optimised schedules
  • Compute the optimal 3D arrangement of pallets, cases and reels and show vehicle fill in a 3D view
  • Build drivable tours that respect time windows, ramp slots and driving and rest periods
  • Arbitrate between an in-house fleet and subcontracted carriers on cost, time and CO2e
  • Design consolidation and network strategies and rank carriers on cost and performance
  • Audit freight invoices automatically and reconcile cost items
  • Drive every module headlessly from an existing ERP, TMS or WMS through the API

When to use S2data Platform / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if S2data Platform is the right fit.

When to use S2data Platform

  • Automotive manufacturers and suppliers coordinating inbound delivery call-offs, milkruns and JIT/JIS sequences
  • Metal, steel, wood, paper and building-materials producers shipping heavy, bulky or awkward loads
  • Logistics service providers and shippers arbitrating between their own fleet and subcontracted carriers
  • Supply chain and transport teams still planning in spreadsheets who want auditable, automated schedules
  • Companies running SAP TM, or any ERP/TMS/WMS, that want an optimisation engine plugged in through an API

When not to use S2data Platform

  • Buyers who need a published price list: nothing is quoted anywhere and every path starts with a sales conversation
  • Teams looking for self-service software they can trial and adopt without speaking to the vendor
  • Developers who want to evaluate the API before contact, since no public documentation is available
  • Organisations needing a mobile app, as none exists on either the Apple or Google store
  • Users who require an interface in a language other than German or English
Get started

How to use S2data Platform

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Book the free initial appointment offered on the site; it runs about 30 minutes and is non-binding
  2. Discuss your current planning structure with the vendor's team and identify which module to start with
  3. Watch the live demonstration, built around a real-world example rather than a generic tour
  4. Optionally hand over one to three real routes so the algorithms can quantify the savings potential
  5. Agree the commercial terms, since the scope of functions follows a service description and a price list issued on request
  6. Choose the delivery mode: hosted SaaS installed and configured by S2data, or a licence installed on your own servers
  7. Review the system requirements, which the vendor communicates before installation
  8. Connect the platform to your ERP, TMS or WMS over API or EDI so it can pull orders and planning parameters
  9. Let the software return the optimised transport plan into your ERP and on to your service providers
  10. For a headless setup, call the modules directly from the API and keep your own interface

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Unusually wide coverage for one engine, from MRP call-offs through 3D loading and routing to network design and freight audit
  • Modular adoption: a customer can begin with a single module rather than a full programme
  • A complete headless API lets teams keep their existing interface and drive optimisation from the ERP, TMS or WMS
  • Named customers publish measurable outcomes, such as Yanfeng reaching a 92.2% utilisation rate
  • An on-premise licence is offered contractually alongside the hosted service, which is rare in this category
  • Processing is contractually restricted to the EU or the EEA, with the hosting provider named in the contract
  • The terms carry a full Article 28 data processing section, including a customer right to inspect the processing facilities

Cons

  • No pricing is published anywhere, so the entry ticket cannot be assessed before a sales conversation
  • No self-service trial of the software; the free demo is a commercial appointment
  • No public API documentation, which prevents any technical evaluation ahead of contact
  • The privacy policy is a website template and says nothing about platform data, retention or model training
  • ISO 27001 and TISAX are shown only as a badge image, with no certificate number, accredited body or validity date
  • The terms of service refer to the software under a different name than the site uses throughout
  • The interface is limited to German and English
Pricing

Pricing & Plans

No pricing is published. There is no pricing page on the site, and the two relevant sitemaps confirm its absence; the terms of service refer instead to a current price list issued on request. The commercial model is a licence, maintenance, support and hosting contract of indefinite duration, terminable at three months' notice. Prospective customers obtain figures only through the initial appointment. The only euro amount published anywhere on the site is a contractual liability cap of up to 25% of the order volume, capped at EUR 50,000, which is not a price.

Plan 1
  • No published pricing tiers
  • the offering is structured by activatable modules rather than named plans
On-premise licence
  • the software is licensed and installed on the customer's own servers
Special offers — Free, non-binding initial appointment of about 30 minutes including a live demonstration · Optimisation of one to three of the prospect's real routes to quantify the savings potential before any commitment · Free white paper on adding AI-based transport planning to SAP TM, available against a form
Prices and plans listed above may evolve. Always check the official pricing page before subscribing.
Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how S2data Platform handles your data.

GDPR overview

GDPR commitments are concrete, but they live in the terms of service rather than in the privacy policy. S2data declares in legally binding terms that it takes all measures required to secure processing under Article 32, and undertakes to provide the technical and organisational measures that let the customer honour Chapter III rights: information, access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection and automated decision-making. Breach notification to the supervisory authority and to affected individuals, data protection impact assessments and prior consultation are named explicitly. Processing is contractually confined to the EU or the EEA. The GDPR contact is privacy@s2-data.at. The caveat is one of scope: the published privacy policy is a website template covering comments, accounts and cookies, so every product-level GDPR fact above comes from the contract.

Who owns the data?

The General Terms and Conditions place the customer in the role of controller and S2data GmbH in the role of processor. Data provided by the customer is processed on the customer's behalf, and the customer is granted the right to inspect and audit the processing facilities at any time. S2data may bring in sub-processors and is expressly not required to announce them, but it must sign Article 28(4) agreements with them and remains liable for their compliance. One commercial right is reserved to the vendor: it may name the customer as a reference. The website privacy policy covers only visitors to the marketing site and says nothing about platform data.

Reuse rights

The contract frames data use narrowly: information supplied by the customer serves the delivery of the optimisation service itself. In practice the platform ingests master data and orders, MRP call-offs, and the constraints attached to them, then returns loading plans, route sequences, cost and TCO views, CO2e reports and audit evidence that the customer is free to use in its own systems. Two points are worth stating plainly. First, nothing in the terms or the privacy policy addresses whether customer data is used to train models, in either direction: the subject is simply never raised. Second, the only third parties named anywhere concern the marketing website alone, not the product: Leadinfo B.V. of Rotterdam, which identifies visiting companies from their IP address and offers an opt-out, and WP Statistics, whose anonymous counts are stored on the publisher's own server without cookies.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
No retention period is published for platform data. The word does not appear in the terms of service, which grant the erasure and other rights of Chapter III of the GDPR without attaching any figure to them. The only retention rules the publisher does state concern the marketing website. Comments left there are kept indefinitely together with their metadata, and profile data of registered website users is stored until changed or deleted. Cookie lifetimes are specified: a comment cookie lasts one year, the browser test cookie is removed when the browser closes, login cookies last two days, display preferences one year, the remember-me option two weeks and an editing cookie one day. None of this describes the transport data held in the platform itself.

Hosting summary

The terms of service state that the software is installed by the publisher on the infrastructure of Hetzner Online GmbH, and that data processing activities are carried out exclusively within the EU or the EEA. Those two statements are the whole of what is disclosed: the provider is named and the region is fixed contractually, but no country of hosting is published, so none is asserted here. Technical observation, which the publisher does not itself publish, is consistent with that: the domain resolves to an address operated by Hetzner Online GmbH in Nuremberg, and the name servers belong to the same provider. This corroborates the contract without replacing it. One alternative changes the picture entirely. The terms also allow a customer to license the software and install it on its own servers, in which case hosting is the customer's own and the arrangement above no longer applies. No list of sub-processors is published; the contract states the vendor need not announce them.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting S2data Platform.

  • The terms of service name the licensed software differently from the entire website, which suggests the contract may lag the product and weakens any purely contractual fact
  • The privacy policy is a website template covering comments, accounts and cookies; it never addresses customer data held in the platform, its retention or its use for training
  • ISO 27001, TISAX and GDPR appear only as a badge image under a wording about alignment with European standards, with no certificate number, accredited body or validity date, and GDPR is a regulation rather than a certification
  • The trust centre is hosted on a third-party compliance platform and cannot be read outside a browser, so the certification claims cannot be verified from the public site alone
  • The company was registered under an earlier name and renamed in March 2024, so sources predating that change refer to the business under a different name
  • No beneficial owner can be identified: the Austrian register of beneficial owners is closed to the public, and although the commercial register names the shareholders it publishes no ownership percentages
  • Delegating planning to an automated engine can erode the in-house judgement that used to absorb exceptions, so retain enough planning expertise to challenge an implausible schedule
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Moderate, and largely handled by the vendor. Installation and configuration are carried out by S2data in both the hosted and on-premise modes, and system requirements are communicated beforehand. The integration work falls on connecting an existing ERP, TMS or WMS over API or EDI so the platform can pull orders and planning parameters and return the optimised plan. The publisher describes this as seamless and free of significant IT hurdles, and the API is presented as quick to integrate, with webhooks and versioning. One obstacle remains: no public API documentation exists, so the effort cannot be estimated before contacting sales.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the S2data interface to use the software?
No. The API exposes every optimisation headlessly, so you can keep your existing ERP, TMS or WMS, or build your own interface. The vendor states that the software can run entirely through the API.
How reliable are the operational results?
Constraints such as axle loads, stackability, time windows and driving and rest periods are built into the data models rather than checked afterwards. Results carry validation flags and can be exported as files, including PDF pickup sheets and 3D assets.
How much does S2data Platform cost?
The publisher does not disclose any price. There is no pricing page, and the terms of service point to a price list supplied on request. Figures are obtained through the initial sales appointment.
Is there a free trial?
Not of the software itself. The vendor offers a free, non-binding initial appointment of roughly 30 minutes with a live demonstration, and will optimise one to three of your real routes to quantify potential savings.
Which systems does it integrate with?
The platform connects to ERP, TMS and WMS environments over API or EDI, pulling orders and planning parameters and returning the optimised plan. SAP TM is the only third-party system named explicitly, in a dedicated white paper.
Where is the data processed?
The terms of service state that processing takes place exclusively within the EU or the EEA, and name Hetzner Online GmbH as the infrastructure on which the software is installed. No specific country of hosting is published.
Can the software run on our own servers?
Yes. Alongside the hosted service, the terms provide for purchasing a licence and installing the software on the customer's own servers, with S2data carrying out installation and configuration.
Which industries does it target?
The vendor names automotive, metal and steel, wood and paper, construction and building materials, food and beverages, consumer goods, logistics service providers and retail, and states that companies of all sizes are supported.
Is there a mobile app?
No. Neither the Apple App Store nor Google Play lists an application from this publisher, and the site displays no store badges.
What languages are available?
The product website and interface are published in German and English only.
Conclusion

Should you pick S2data Platform?

S2data Platform is one of the more complete transport planning offers in its category, and its coherence is its main argument: instead of bolting a routing tool onto a warehouse system, it runs MRP call-offs, 3D loading, tour building, network design and freight audit through a single optimisation engine, with the physical constraints modelled rather than checked afterwards. The publisher is a real and verifiable company, registered in Graz on 1 September 2020, funded in 2023 and 2024, and its customer references are named and specific rather than anonymous.

Two structural strengths deserve emphasis. The headless API means a buyer does not have to displace an incumbent ERP or TMS to benefit, and the contractual option of an on-premise licence is unusual in a market that has largely standardised on pure SaaS. The data protection terms are also more substantial than the marketing suggests, with a full Article 28 section and processing contractually confined to the EU or the EEA.

The reservations are about disclosure rather than capability. Nothing about pricing is public, there is no self-service trial and no API documentation to inspect, so a buyer cannot form even a rough view of cost or integration effort without entering a sales conversation. The security claims are the weakest link: ISO 27001 and TISAX appear only inside a badge image, with no certificate number, no accredited body and no validity date, and the trust centre cannot be read outside a browser. The published privacy policy, meanwhile, is a website template that never addresses platform data.

For an industrial shipper with real transport volume, this is worth a conversation. Ask for the certificates and the price list in writing at the first meeting.
