CroPilot
CroPilot is an autonomous AI conversion rate optimization agent: it scans your pages for friction, writes the fix, runs the A/B test and deploys the winner once you approve it. Installs on Shopify, WooCommerce or any website.
What is CroPilot?
CroPilot is an AI agent for conversion rate optimization, published by CROPILOT AS, a Norwegian company based in Oslo. It targets teams that want the output of a CRO programme without hiring someone to run one: the software watches a website, decides what is worth testing, produces the alternative version, runs the experiment and reports the winner.
The loop has four stages. You install a tracking script, the AI analyses your pages and lists the friction it finds, it drafts a fix for each finding, then it splits traffic between the original and the variant until the result is statistically meaningful. Findings arrive as ranked Opportunities — high impact, medium impact or quick win — each stating the problem in plain language, with one or more AI-generated solutions, a score and an estimated uplift.
Nothing reaches visitors without approval. You can edit the copy or the CSS the model proposes, reject a suggestion outright, or roll a live change back with one click. Two safeguards sit around that: cart, checkout and price elements are never modified, and every variant goes through real browser testing on desktop, tablet and mobile before it is allowed out. On the Pro and Agency plans, winners can also be deployed automatically.
Installation is aimed at non-technical owners: a one-click Shopify app, a WordPress plugin, or a single line of script in the page head for anything else. CroPilot describes it as a sub-3 kB asynchronous Ghost Pixel with no effect on Core Web Vitals. Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, BigCommerce, Webflow, Wix, Next.js, React and Framer are all named as supported.
Beyond testing, the product bundles heatmaps, session recordings, rage-click detection, analytics and per-experiment revenue attribution. Agencies additionally get a white-label dashboard and client reporting.
Pricing is freemium: a permanent free tier, then 49, 149 and 349 US dollars a month, with a 14-day trial and 20% off annual billing. CroPilot positions itself against VWO, Optimizely, AB Tasty, Convert, Google Optimize and Hotjar, arguing those tools still demand 40 to 60 hours of manual work every month.
What it does
- Analyse a website page by page and identify what makes visitors leave
- Generate ready-to-test fixes automatically, including copy, CSS and HTML changes
- Run A/B and multi-variant experiments and compute statistical significance
- Deploy the winning variant automatically on the Pro and Agency plans
- Record heatmaps and session replays, and surface rage-clicks
- Attribute revenue to each experiment and track its financial impact
- Roll any live change back in one click, and validate every variant in a real browser first
When to use CroPilot / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if CroPilot is the right fit.
When to use CroPilot
- Shopify and WooCommerce store owners with no in-house developer or CRO specialist
- SaaS companies working on signup friction, onboarding and trial-to-paid conversion
- Marketing agencies running optimization across many client sites, who need white-label reporting
- Solopreneurs and small sites that cannot justify a dedicated testing tool and the expertise to drive it
- Growth teams that want continuous experimentation without owning the test design themselves
When not to use CroPilot
- Sites below roughly 1,000 visitors a month, where CroPilot itself says split tests cannot reach significance and it falls back to an audit role
- Mature CRO teams that want to own hypothesis design, advanced segmentation and test methodology manually
- Native mobile apps and non-web products: there is no iOS or Android app, the tool works through a browser script
- Checkout and payment pages, which the vendor explicitly recommends excluding from experiments
- Organisations that require data to stay exclusively in the EU, since the application and database are hosted in the United States
How to use CroPilot
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create a free account on the registration page; no credit card is requested
- Install the tracker: the one-click Shopify app, the WordPress plugin, or one line of script in your page head
- Let the AI crawl and analyse your pages; the first opportunities are announced within 24 to 48 hours
- Open the AI Optimization Center and review the opportunities ranked as high impact, medium impact or quick win
- Read an opportunity in detail: the problem identified, the AI-generated solutions, their scores and the estimated uplift
- Edit the proposed copy or CSS if you want to adjust the AI's wording or styling
- Approve or reject the variant; rejecting simply moves the AI on to the next suggestion
- Check the quality report before launch: protected elements, browser tests and desktop, tablet and mobile validation
- Deploy the test and let CroPilot split traffic between the control and the variant
- Wait for statistical significance, typically one to two weeks depending on traffic, then deploy the winner or let auto-implementation do it
Pros & Cons
Pros
- A permanent free plan with no credit card, plus a 14-day trial on every paid tier
- Setup announced in around five minutes, with no code required on Shopify or WordPress
- The full optimization loop is automated: detection, design, testing and deployment
- Explicit technical safeguards: cart and checkout untouched, real browser testing, one-click rollback
- Human approval is required before anything goes live, and AI copy and CSS remain editable
- Entry price well below traditional CRO suites, which the vendor puts at 490 to 2,000 US dollars a month
- Unusually detailed legal documentation for a young product, including a named subprocessor table with locations
Cons
- No independent security certification is claimed, neither SOC 2 nor ISO 27001, despite the enterprise-grade wording
- The privacy policy says most processing happens in the EU while the security page places the application and database at Render.com in the United States
- The money-back guarantee is stated as 14 days on the homepage and pricing page but 30 days in the terms
- Headline results are animated counters with no verifiable source, so the uplift figures should be treated as marketing claims
- The recommended 1,000 visitors a month threshold puts the core promise out of reach for the smallest sites
- No documented way to exclude your data from AI model training, and no public API documentation despite API access appearing in the plan comparison
- The tool injects code into visitors' browsers, and the terms place the entire testing responsibility on the customer
Pricing & Plans
A permanent free plan is available at no cost and without a credit card. The cheapest paid tier is Starter at 49.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with a 20% reduction on annual billing. All paid plans include a 14-day free trial. Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record, or through Shopify billing when the app is installed from the Shopify App Store.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how CroPilot handles your data.
GDPR overview
GDPR implementation is documented in concrete terms rather than claimed in passing. The privacy policy and terms, both dated 6 February 2026, set out the legal bases used (contract performance, legitimate interest, consent), name six subprocessors with their locations, and cover access, portability, correction, deletion and marketing opt-out. A Data Processing Agreement is available on request from privacy@cropilot.ai. Transfers to the United States rely on Standard Contractual Clauses. The security page claims compliance with GDPR, CCPA and Norwegian data protection law, points complainants to Datatilsynet, and commits to notifying affected customers within 72 hours. Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks are honoured. No Article 27 EU representative and no data protection officer are named, and no independent certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 is claimed.
Who owns the data?
You keep ownership of everything you put into CroPilot, including your website content and your visitor data. The terms grant CroPilot only a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that data for the purpose of delivering the service. CroPilot retains ownership of its own software, algorithms, AI models and trademarks; you get no rights over them. Under GDPR the roles are split explicitly: you are the data controller for your website visitors and CroPilot is your processor, acting on your instructions. The company states it never sells or rents personal or visitor data. Six subprocessors are named, including Render.com, Lemon Squeezy, Intercom, PostHog, Google Analytics 4 and Shopify.
Reuse rights
You can export your data from the dashboard at any time and delete your account whenever you choose, with erasure completed within 30 days. Variants and copy produced by the AI are yours to use on your own site, but CroPilot gives no warranty that these outputs are original or free of third-party rights, so checking them is your responsibility. In the other direction, CroPilot reuses aggregated and anonymised data to improve its AI models and optimization algorithms under legitimate interest, and says individual site data is never shared with third parties. Reusing visitor data comes with duties rather than freedoms: you must obtain visitor consent, run a cookie banner, disclose CroPilot in your own privacy policy and honour opt-out and Do Not Track signals. Collecting passwords, card numbers, government identifiers, HIPAA-regulated health data or data from children under 16 through the tool is prohibited.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
CroPilot publishes an explicit map of where data sits. Application hosting and the PostgreSQL database run on Render.com in the United States, payment processing goes through Lemon Squeezy in the United States, while customer support via Intercom and product analytics via PostHog are hosted in the EU. The privacy policy adds Google Analytics 4 in the US and Shopify in Canada and the US. Transfers to the United States rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, with additional technical and organisational safeguards. Data is encrypted with TLS 1.3 in transit and AES-256 at rest, backups are encrypted, and point-in-time recovery covers 30 days with geographic replication. Note one tension in the vendor's own documents: the privacy policy states that most processing occurs within the European Union, while the security page places the core application and database in the United States. The publisher is Norwegian and answers to Datatilsynet.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting CroPilot.
- CroPilot injects code into your visitors' browsers; the terms themselves list layout breakage, script conflicts, slower pages, temporarily hidden content and interference with checkout flows or price displays as possible consequences
- Testing responsibility is shifted entirely onto you, and liability is capped at what you paid over the preceding twelve months, with lost revenue, orders and customers explicitly excluded
- AI recommendations are described by the vendor as possibly inaccurate, incomplete, biased or hallucinated, so approving a variant without reading it is a real risk
- Automatic deployment on the Pro and Agency plans can push changes into production without a human reading them, which quietly removes the safeguard the product otherwise advertises
- GDPR compliance for your visitors stays your responsibility: consent, cookie banner, privacy policy updates and Do Not Track signals, with an indemnity clause if you get it wrong
- Aggregated and anonymised data feeds CroPilot's AI models with no documented opt-out, which matters if your pages carry sensitive or differentiating content
- Relying on an autopilot can hide the real problem: continuously tuning buttons and headlines will not fix a weak product, a wrong price or an unclear offer
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low. CroPilot advertises setup in about five minutes, and roughly thirty seconds on Shopify, through three routes: a one-click Shopify app, a WordPress plugin, or a single line of script pasted into the page head. No configuration is needed afterwards, as analysis starts on its own. The only real prerequisite is being able to reach your site's template or install an app. On a platform with a strict content security policy, or where you cannot edit the head section yourself, installing the script may still require a developer.

Should you pick CroPilot?
CroPilot makes a narrow, legible promise: take the conversion optimization loop that normally needs a specialist and a tool budget, and run it automatically on a site that has neither. The execution matches the pitch. Installation is genuinely light, the ranked opportunities are written for people who have never read a significance test, and the safeguards around deployment — cart and checkout left untouched, real browser validation on three device classes, one-click rollback and mandatory approval — are the parts that most reassure a merchant letting software rewrite a live storefront.
The reservations are worth stating plainly. The domain dates from 2024 and the company is young, no independent security certification backs the enterprise-grade language on the security page, and the headline uplift figures on the homepage are animated counters rather than sourced results. Two internal contradictions deserve a direct question before purchase: the privacy policy claims most processing happens in the EU while the security page puts the application and database in the United States, and the refund window is advertised as 14 days in one place and 30 days in the terms. The 1,000 visitors per month threshold also matters more than the pricing page suggests, since below it the product stops being a testing engine and becomes an audit tool.
For a Shopify or WooCommerce store, a growing SaaS working on trial conversion, or an agency that wants to multiply the number of tests per client without multiplying headcount, the free tier makes the evaluation nearly costless. For teams with a mature testing practice, or with a strict EU-only data requirement, the fit is much weaker. Read the terms on DOM injection and AI liability before switching on auto-implementation: they place the testing responsibility squarely on you.
