What is Vector to 3D?
Vector to 3D is a rendering tool that takes flat artwork and gives it depth. Its starting point is deliberately narrow: vector and text layers, either selected inside Figma or uploaded as an SVG file. From there a single Convert action turns those outlines into solid geometry, and everything downstream is about making that geometry look good.
The shape tools work the way a designer thinks rather than the way a 3D package does. Outlines can be extruded, inflated into puffy forms, or revolved around an axis. They can then be bent along a custom curve, twisted or tapered, stacked with a controllable gap and overlap, and combined through boolean union, subtraction and intersection, including an SDF variant that blends forms together smoothly.
Materials are where the tool spends its ambition. Alongside the expected metalness and roughness there is transmission for glass, both solid and hollow, with index of refraction and dispersion for rainbow refraction, thin-film thickness for iridescent surfaces, anisotropy for brushed metal, and emissive surfaces that light their neighbours. Bump and displacement maps are supported, with triplanar, spherical and cylindrical UV projection for textures carried over from Figma fills.
Lighting is handled by a key light, up to ten fill lights and an HDR environment map that can be uploaded and reused. The camera can be perspective or isometric and offers depth of field through an aperture and a focus distance.
Rendering runs in two modes. Real Time is for editing and previewing; Path Tracing produces the final image, with control over samples, bounces, resolution, exposure, bloom and Open Image Denoise, and WebGPU acceleration where the browser or client supports it. Non-photoreal passes are available too: outline, toon, which can be downloaded as SVG, albedo, normal, depth and tag colour.
Animation covers translation, rotation, scale, keyframes and shape changes, plus turntable spins and animated cameras and lights, with thirty easing curves.
The same product runs as a Figma plugin, a browser editor and a macOS or Windows desktop client, all sharing one licence. Projects stay on the local machine, with versions, tags, watermarking and read-only protection.
