Yozo
Yozo is a chat-driven AI marketing agent for Shopify stores. It writes and sends email, WhatsApp, SMS and push campaigns, builds customer segments, runs capture popups, collects product reviews and answers shoppers from one unified inbox.
What is Yozo?
Yozo is an AI marketing agent built for Shopify merchants. Instead of assembling separate tools for email, SMS, WhatsApp, popups, reviews and live chat, you install one app from the Shopify App Store and work through a chat window: you describe the campaign or automation you want, and the agent writes it, targets it, schedules it and waits for your approval before anything goes out.
The product covers four outbound channels — email, WhatsApp, SMS and push notifications — and pulls every inbound reply into one place. That unified inbox gathers WhatsApp messages, on-site chat, Instagram direct messages, Messenger and email, all handled by an assistant the vendor calls Zena, billed separately in conversation credits. Around this core sit automatic customer segmentation that proposes a campaign per segment, email and phone capture popups with welcome flows, and automated review collection that can be shown on the storefront. Yozo describes the whole thing as six orchestrated agents: content creation, web and content scraping, channel orchestration, analysis, customer segmentation and inbox.
Setup is deliberately shallow. The app installs in one click, you upload brand assets — voice, colours, logo, fonts — and Yozo scans your products, pages, policies and FAQs to build its own knowledge base. The vendor sums the loop up as install, chat, approve, and states that neither coding nor a marketing background is needed.
Pricing is published in US dollars. A permanent free tier is free to install; paid tiers run from $50 to $500 per month, each bundling an email allowance, messaging credits and a number of Zena conversations. Annual billing gives two months free. Credits included in a plan expire at the end of each cycle and do not roll over, while credits bought separately do.
Two caveats belong beside the features. Yozo works only with Shopify, and its interface and support are English only. Its published legal documentation is thin: the terms of service are linked from nowhere on the site and stop mid-sentence at clause 11.2, and the data processing agreement they refer to could not be found.

When to use Yozo / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Yozo is the right fit.
When to use Yozo
- Shopify merchants who want email, SMS and WhatsApp marketing in a single app rather than three separate subscriptions
- Small teams with no in-house marketer, since the vendor states that no coding and no marketing background are required
- Direct-to-consumer brands that need a first-line support agent answering around the clock without hiring for it
- Store owners who would otherwise pay an agency retainer for recurring flows, campaigns and content production
- Existing marketing teams looking to offload routine campaign production and keep strategy work in-house
When not to use Yozo
- Merchants on any platform other than Shopify, the only storefront the product connects to
- Teams needing a non-English interface or non-English support, since the App Store listing declares English only
- Advertisers who want help managing paid media, a channel Yozo explicitly positions itself against
- Buyers whose procurement requires published security certifications or a downloadable DPA, neither of which exists
- Developers wanting to integrate through a documented public API, as no API documentation is published
How to use Yozo
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Install Yozo from the Shopify App Store in one click
- Upload your brand assets: voice, colours, logo and fonts
- Let the agent scan your products, pages, policies and FAQs
- Connect your channels: email, WhatsApp and SMS
- Describe the campaign or flow you want in the chat
- Let the agent draft the content and propose the segment to target
- Review what it produced and approve it before anything is sent
- Switch on capture popups, review sections and the Zena chat agent from the same app
- Track results in the analytics dashboard included on every paid tier
- Change tier whenever you need; the switch takes effect on your next billing cycle

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Yozo handles your data.
GDPR overview
GDPR implementation is minimal on the published pages. The regulation is named exactly once across the whole site: clause 7.2 of the terms says Yozo's use of Customer Data is subject to a Data Processing Agreement where applicable, for GDPR or equivalent purposes. That agreement is not published at any address we could find. Yozo neither claims GDPR compliance nor denies it. The privacy policy, effective 14 January 2024, describes rights generically — withholding data, asking what is held, correction, complaint — without citing the regulation, naming a legal basis or committing to a deadline. No Article 27 representative is designated, no DPO is named, no hosting country or transfer mechanism is stated, and there is no trust page and no published certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
Who owns the data?
Clause 7.1 of the terms of service leaves the customer all rights to Customer Data, defined in clause 1.2 as everything uploaded or distributed through the service, including the personal data of the merchant's own shoppers. The platform itself stays Yozo's exclusive property. Two carve-outs matter. Clause 5.3 lets Yozo compile and exploit aggregated or anonymised data derived from your usage for analytics, product improvement and business purposes, provided nobody is identifiable. Clause 5.2 lets it use any feedback you send without restriction or payment. The privacy policy adds that personal data may be disclosed to IT, storage, hosting and server providers, advertisers, analytics platforms, contractors, business partners and authorities.
Reuse rights
The customer gets only a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable licence to use the service (clause 3.1). Clause 3.2 forbids copying or modifying the service, making derivative works of it, reselling, leasing or assigning it, reverse-engineering it, bypassing its security features, using it to compete with Yozo, and removing proprietary notices. The published terms confirm that you keep your rights to Customer Data, but say nothing explicit about ownership or reuse of the campaign content the agent generates for you, and grant no export or portability right. Clause 7.3 puts the rest of the burden on you: accuracy and legality of your data, collecting consent, complying with carrier rules for SMS and WhatsApp, and keeping your own backup.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Yozo does not say where data is stored. The privacy policy states only that personal information is stored or processed in locations where the company, its partners, affiliates and third-party providers have facilities, warns that those locations may have weaker data protection laws than your own country, and names no country, no region and no transfer mechanism. Recipient categories are listed generically — IT providers, data storage, hosting and server providers, advertisers, analytics platforms — without a single named subprocessor. Clause 7.2 of the terms refers to a Data Processing Agreement for GDPR purposes, but that document could not be located. One technical observation from our own checks, distinct from anything the vendor states: the domain resolves behind Cloudflare (AS209242, anycast node seen in San Francisco, IP 198.202.211.1), and the application runs on the agent.yozo.ai and agents.yozo.ai subdomains. A CDN edge node is not a storage location and should not be read as one. In short, the hosting jurisdiction is undisclosed.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Yozo.
- Messaging compliance stays with you: consent and carrier rules for SMS and WhatsApp are the customer's responsibility under clause 7.3
- One hasty approval sends to the entire list, and that approval step is the only brake in the loop
- AI-written copy speaks in your brand's name, so an unreviewed error about a product, a price or a policy reaches customers as fact
- Approval fatigue is the real risk: the more often the agent is right, the less carefully each campaign gets read
- Included credits expire every month, which quietly encourages sending for the sake of using them up
- The contract is incomplete, with no governing law and no reachable DPA, so your recourse is hard to assess in advance
- Concentrating email, SMS, WhatsApp, reviews, popups and support in one young vendor means a single outage or exit touches all of them
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low for the intended audience. Yozo installs from the Shopify App Store in one click; you then upload brand assets and let the agent scan your products, pages, policies and FAQs. The vendor states that no coding, no configuration and no marketing background are needed, and advertises instant setup. Expect friction outside the app, though: verifying a sending domain for email and getting a WhatsApp Business sender approved depend on third parties and are not documented on the site. Those steps, rather than Yozo itself, are where a first campaign usually stalls.

Should you pick Yozo?
Yozo makes a clear offer to Shopify merchants: one chat window instead of a stack of marketing subscriptions. The feature set holds together — email, WhatsApp, SMS and push campaigns, automatic segmentation, capture popups, review collection and a chat support agent, with every reply landing in a single inbox — and the commercial terms are unusually legible for so young a vendor. Prices are real figures in US dollars, from a free install to $500 per month, annual billing gives two months free, and the Starter and Growth tiers promise no usage charges beyond message credits. Installation really is one click.
The reservations concern the company more than the product. Yozo works only with Shopify, and only in English. Its published legal documentation is the weakest part of the file: the terms of service are linked from no page at all, they stop mid-sentence at clause 11.2 with no governing law and no jurisdiction, and the data processing agreement they incorporate could not be found at any address we tried. No postal address appears anywhere, and the entity signing the terms is not the entity publishing the app. Anyone with a procurement process should settle that before signing.
Maturity is early. The domain was registered in June 2024, the Shopify app launched on 10 June 2024, it carries a 5.0 rating from eight reviews, and a USD 1.7 million pre-seed round was announced in January 2026. The growth figures on the site are vendor claims with no stated method or period, and read as ambition rather than evidence. For a small Shopify team wanting to consolidate tools cheaply, Yozo is worth a trial; for a buyer who needs contractual and compliance guarantees, it is not ready yet.
