Overview

What is Nametastic?

Nametastic is a web-based naming tool published by FUTURISTICA d.o.o., a Slovenian company based in Maribor. It launched on 5 May 2025 and asks for one thing: a short description of your idea. From that description its engine produces more than fifty candidate names, scores each one for brand potential, and checks in real time whether the matching domain can still be registered.

Availability is verified through the Namecheap API across more than fifty extensions, from .com, .net and .org to .io, .ai, .app, .co, country-code domains and niche endings. Scoring rates memorability, pronounceability and relevance, so the list arrives ranked rather than raw.

Work is metered in credits. A standard domain search costs two credits, a Deep Research run, which explores more widely, costs three, and generating a company name without a domain costs one. A search typically takes three to five minutes, with results streamed live as they are produced.

Beyond the main generator, the site publishes sixty-nine specialised generators in four families: twenty-two for business and brand names covering SaaS, startups, apps, restaurants, bakeries, clothing labels and farms, six for domains, twenty-eight for fantasy and gaming names, and thirteen for places, ships and characters. A separate Brand Builder module carries the process further, turning a chosen name into brand copy, taglines and an elevator pitch, then into logos exportable as high-resolution PNG and vector SVG.

The generation engine runs on Anthropic's Claude models, and the public changelog tracks the succession openly: Sonnet 4.5 in October 2025, Opus 4.5 in November 2025, Opus 4.8 with Haiku 4.5 for scoring in July 2026, and Opus 5 since 10 August 2026.

One boundary matters. Nametastic does not register domains. It hands you one-click links to third-party registrars and describes direct registration as still to come. The company also states publicly that it never registers the domains its users search for. The service is web-only, with no API and no mobile application, and its interface is published in eighteen localised versions.

What it does

  • Turn a plain-language description of a business idea into 50+ candidate names
  • Check domain availability live across 50+ extensions, including .com, .io, .ai, .app and country codes
  • Score every suggestion for memorability, pronounceability and brand potential
  • Run a Deep Research pass for a wider, more thorough exploration of the naming space
  • Generate a company name on its own, without a domain search, for a single credit
  • Build a complete identity in Brand Builder: name, brand copy, taglines and logos
  • Save shortlisted domains and revisit the full search history from an account

When to use Nametastic / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Nametastic is the right fit.

When to use Nametastic

  • Founders and entrepreneurs who want a name and an available domain in the same pass, without juggling a generator and a registrar lookup
  • Freelancers and small agencies naming client projects, who need volume rather than one lucky idea — the Premium tier is pitched at agencies and power users
  • Content creators looking for a YouTube channel, podcast, Twitch or Instagram handle that is still free across platforms
  • Game masters, novelists and worldbuilders, served by 28 fantasy and gaming generators and 13 more for places, characters and surnames
  • Owners of physical businesses — restaurant, cafe, bakery, food truck, farm, clothing label — who get a dedicated generator instead of a generic keyword mixer

When not to use Nametastic

  • Anyone expecting to buy the domain on the spot: Nametastic checks availability but does not register, and direct registration is only announced as coming soon
  • Teams wanting to automate naming, since there is no public API, no mobile app and no browser extension to plug into an existing workflow
  • Businesses needing trademark clearance — the terms warn that an available domain says nothing about third-party rights, and no trademark check is performed
  • Organisations with a procurement or compliance checklist: no data processing agreement, no named subprocessors, no security page and no stated hosting country
  • Anyone who needs to iterate quickly, as a single search takes three to five minutes and each one consumes credits
Get started

How to use Nametastic

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Open the home page and describe your business idea in a few words; the more detail you give, the better the suggestions
  2. Create an account to claim the two free credits offered on signup, no credit card required
  3. Pick a mode before launching: standard domain search for two credits, Deep Research for three, or company name only for one
  4. Start the generation and wait three to five minutes while results stream in
  5. Read the ranked list, where each name carries a brand potential score and a live availability status
  6. Save the domains you want to keep, ten of them on the free plan and an unlimited number on a paid plan
  7. Follow the one-click link to a third-party registrar to buy the domain, since Nametastic does not register it for you
  8. Optionally continue in Brand Builder: choose a name, generate brand copy, then design and download a logo
  9. Buy more credits from the pricing page slider, from ten up to five thousand, paid through Stripe and never expiring
  10. Manage your profile, saved domains, search history and subscription from the account dashboard

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • A genuinely free entry point: two credits on signup with no credit card, and a free plan advertised as permanent
  • Fully public pricing, down to the price of a single credit, with no quote to request
  • Credits roll over on subscriptions and purchased credits never expire, which is uncommon in this category
  • Availability is checked live against registries rather than served from a cache, across a wide range of extensions
  • An identified publisher registered in the European Union, with a postal address and three published email addresses
  • A dated public changelog that names the underlying models and their upgrades
  • A written refund policy: fourteen days when no credit has been used, and billing errors always refunded

Cons

  • The GDPR is never mentioned anywhere on the site, although the publisher is established in the European Union
  • No data processing agreement, no named subprocessors and no security or trust page
  • No stated position on whether customer data is used to train models, and no documented opt-out
  • A very broad licence over submitted content in section 6.2 of the terms, with no time limit
  • No domain registration, no API, no mobile app and no integration into an existing workflow
  • Three to five minutes per search, which is slow for iterating on an idea
  • Unsourced marketing claims such as a 4.9/5 rating and 10,000+ brands created, plus a competitor comparison published by the vendor itself

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Nametastic handles your data.

GDPR overview

Nametastic never mentions the GDPR. The word does not appear once across the pages collected, privacy policy and terms included, which is why compliance is recorded as N by silence rather than by refusal: the site nowhere denies compliance, it simply says nothing about it. The privacy policy, effective 26 January 2025, does list rights that mirror the regulation, namely access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent, introduced as rights that may apply depending on your location under applicable data protection laws. Requests go to the address given in the Contact Us section, legal@nametastic.com. No data protection officer is named, no legal basis is cited, no processing agreement is offered and no subprocessor is identified. The publisher is established in Slovenia, so the regulation applies to it by law and no Article 27 representative is required.

Who owns the data?

The terms draw a clean line. You keep ownership of the business concepts you submit, but section 6.2 grants the company a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, distribute and display that content in order to provide and improve the service, and you warrant that you hold the rights to whatever you type in. The generated names themselves belong to nobody in particular: section 6.3 states explicitly that domain name suggestions are not covered by the publisher's intellectual property. What is protected is the machinery, namely the algorithms, methods and systems behind the generation, along with the site itself.

Reuse rights

Yes, the names Nametastic returns can be reused freely and without asking permission: section 6.3 of the terms states that domain name suggestions are not protected by the publisher's intellectual property rights, and Brand Builder logos are sold with a commercial licence. The company keeps no claim over the name you finally pick. Two limits deserve attention. First, freedom from Nametastic is not freedom from everyone else, since the terms warn that an available domain may still collide with a third party's trademark, and using the service to hunt for infringing names or to squat domains is expressly prohibited. Second, the input side is not symmetrical: whatever you submit falls under the broad licence of section 6.2, and your descriptions and queries may be passed to unnamed third-party AI and domain availability services.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
The privacy policy, effective 26 January 2025, keeps personal information only as long as needed for the purposes it sets out: meeting legal obligations, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements and running the service. Usage data is generally kept for a shorter period unless it serves security or functionality, or the law requires longer. In detail, account information is kept for as long as the account stays active plus a retention period after closure; search history and generation data are kept for service improvement and debugging; saved domains last as long as the account. No duration is ever expressed in days, months or years, so none of these periods can be pinned down. Users can review, update or delete account information from their settings, and may delete the account entirely.

Hosting summary

Nametastic publishes no hosting location. Neither the privacy policy nor any other page names a country, a region or a cloud provider for stored data. Section 9 of the policy states only that information may be transferred to and kept on computers outside the user's state, province or country, where data protection laws may differ, and that reasonable steps are taken to keep transfers secure. The single named piece of infrastructure anywhere on the site is Supabase, used for authentication since the first release in May 2025. On security, section 7 lists TLS/SSL encryption in transit, standard authentication and session management, secure storage of API keys, restricted access controls and regular monitoring; encryption at rest is not mentioned. Note that the domain resolves to a Cloudflare anycast address, which indicates a content delivery network in front of the site and says nothing about where data is stored. The publisher is established in Slovenia and the terms are governed by Slovenian law, with jurisdiction in Maribor.

Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Nametastic.

  • Section 6.2 of the terms grants a worldwide, royalty-free licence covering publication and distribution over any business concept you submit, so paraphrase a confidential idea rather than pasting it in full
  • Your descriptions and queries may be passed to unnamed third-party AI and domain availability services, according to the privacy policy
  • No hosting country is published anywhere, and the policy allows transfers outside your jurisdiction without naming a destination
  • Retention is described only in qualitative terms, with no duration ever given in days, months or years
  • Liability is capped at the higher of twelve months of fees paid or one hundred euros, and no guarantee is given that a suggested domain is free of third-party rights
  • An availability result is not a trademark clearance, and a name that feels original may still be someone else's registered mark
  • Leaning on a generator for every naming decision quietly outsources brand judgement; the ranked score reflects patterns in the model, not your market
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low. There is nothing to install, configure or connect: the generator sits on the home page and runs in any browser. An account is needed only to claim the two free credits, save domains and keep a search history, and it requires no credit card. No API key, no integration and no technical knowledge are involved. The only real friction is conceptual rather than technical, namely learning how credits are consumed by each mode, and waiting three to five minutes for a search to complete. Upgrading to a paid plan goes through a standard Stripe checkout.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy the domain directly through Nametastic?
No. Nametastic checks availability and then sends you to a third-party registrar through a one-click link. The site describes built-in registration as coming soon, so for now the purchase happens elsewhere and under the registrar's own terms.
How much does it cost to start?
Nothing. The free plan is advertised at 0 USD forever and gives you two credits on signup with no credit card. The first paid tier is Pro at 9.99 USD per month, and credits can also be bought outright from 0.25 USD each.
How does the credit system work?
Each run costs credits: two for a standard domain search, three for a Deep Research run and one to generate a company name alone. Credits included in the Pro and Premium subscriptions roll over month to month, and credits bought as a pack never expire.
How long does one search take?
Between three and five minutes, according to the site's own FAQ, depending on how complex the request is and how many domains are generated. Results are streamed as they are produced rather than delivered in one block at the end.
Which domain extensions are covered?
The home page advertises live checks across more than fifty extensions. The FAQ lists .com, .net, .org, .io, .ai, .app and .co, plus country-code and niche endings, and describes the scan as covering hundreds of extensions in total.
Which AI model powers the suggestions?
Anthropic's Claude. The footer reads Powered by Claude Opus 5, and the public changelog traces the succession: Sonnet 4.5 in October 2025, Opus 4.5 in November 2025, Opus 4.8 with Haiku 4.5 for scoring in July 2026, then Opus 5 on 10 August 2026.
Is Nametastic GDPR compliant?
The site never mentions the GDPR, so no compliance claim exists to verify. Its privacy policy does list equivalent rights such as access, erasure and portability without tying them to the regulation. The publisher is established in Slovenia, so the regulation applies to it regardless.
Are my ideas used to train AI models?
The site does not say. It never addresses model training, and no opt-out is documented. What the terms do say, in section 6.2, is that submitted content is covered by a broad licence granted to improve the service, and the privacy policy notes that inputs may be processed by unnamed third-party AI services.
Who is behind Nametastic, and can I get a refund?
The publisher is FUTURISTICA d.o.o., Askerceva 28, 2000 Maribor, Slovenia, founded by Uros Gazvoda. Refunds are granted within fourteen days of a charge provided no credit from that purchase has been used, and billing errors are refunded regardless.
Conclusion

Should you pick Nametastic?

Nametastic does what its front page says, and the evidence sits on the site rather than in the marketing. A named Slovenian company stands behind it, the pricing grid is public down to the price of a single credit, the changelog is dated and names the models in use, and the refund policy is written out rather than implied. For a founder, a freelancer or an agency naming a project, two free credits and a 9.99 USD monthly plan make the cost of finding out very low.

Two things separate it from the crowd of naming toys: availability is verified live rather than served from a cache, and credits carry over instead of evaporating at the end of the month.

The weak side is the compliance file, and it is weak in a specific way. The word GDPR appears nowhere on the site even though the publisher is established inside the European Union. There is no data processing agreement, no named list of subprocessors, no hosting country and no stated position on whether submitted ideas feed model training. The terms grant a broad worldwide licence over anything typed into the box. None of that is unusual for a small consumer tool, but it does mean a confidential product concept is better paraphrased than pasted.

Treat Nametastic as an occasional creative instrument rather than something to wire into a workflow: there is no API, no mobile app and no contractual commitment to lean on. And whatever the availability check returns, run your own trademark verification before registering anything, since the terms are explicit that an available domain says nothing about third-party rights.
