Sycai Medical is medical device software developed, marketed and owned by SYCAI TECHNOLOGIES SL, a Barcelona company, and manufactured in Spain. Its stated intended use is to assist radiologists in the detection and characterisation of radiological findings in the pancreas on CT scans of adult patients. The vendor presents it as the world's first MDR-approved AI solution for improving the diagnosis of pancreatic lesions.
The software does not run as a separate application. It is installed alongside an existing PACS, communicates over DICOM and works as a concurrent read tool, so its results are on hand at the moment the radiologist evaluates the study. After each execution it writes two DICOM series back into the PACS: a Secondary Capture carrying the report, and a Structured Report carrying warnings and execution information. The report opens on a cover page showing the patient identifier, the study date, the number of findings on the current scan and a pancreas pictogram that turns orange when at least one finding has been detected.
Within the pancreas the product covers eight categories of findings: serous cystic neoplasms, pseudocysts, intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms, mucinous cystic neoplasms, solid pseudopapillary neoplasms, adenocarcinoma, neuroendocrine tumours and metastases. It does not sort them into subtypes. For each one it reports size, volume and anatomical location in the head, body or tail. It also pulls up to three prior studies automatically and builds a summary table of up to eight findings, marking any that has grown by more than 5 mm on the major axis over two years. This single-lesion longitudinal tracking is covered by international patent WO 2023/030734.
A second product, LIRVEA, obtained CE marking under the MDR on 13 July 2026 as a Class IIb device for solid liver lesions, including hepatocellular carcinoma, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, lymphomas and metastases. Kidneys are announced as the third target organ. The vendor reports 96.6% sensitivity and 84.5% specificity for the pancreas, 90.7% and 86.8% for the liver, alongside more than thirty scientific publications, ISO 13485 certification and proven technical feasibility in over ten hospitals across Spain and Germany.

GDPR overview
GDPR compliance is claimed explicitly: the homepage describes the product as GDPR and DICOM compliant, and the privacy policy is written under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 together with Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 and the LSSI-CE 34/2002. The company invokes the accountability principle and lists the full set of rights: access, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent. Rights are exercised free of charge by post, with a copy of an identity document, and complaints go to the Spanish Data Protection Agency, whose address and telephone numbers are given. Two consultancies, ClickDatos and Adeplus, advised on the framework. No data protection officer is named, the policy carries no effective date or version number, and it covers the website only, not the clinical images the device analyses.
Who owns the data?
SYCAI TECHNOLOGIES SL is the data controller. Its legal notice states that personal data supplied by users may be stored in databases whose ownership belongs exclusively to the company, and its privacy policy places that data in files under its responsibility. The company says it does not share personal data with anyone except public or private bodies where the law compels it, giving the tax authorities as its example, and that it builds no user profiles. The design choice that matters most is that the tool stays invisible. Automatic retrieval of prior scans and patented single-lesion tracking address a task that is otherwise manual and often skipped under pressure.
The limits are equally clear. This is abdominal CT only, the pancreas above all, with the liver newly added and the kidneys still an announcement. Nothing works without a DICOM-compliant PACS, so the buyer is an institution, never an individual. There is no API, no trial and no published price.
Where the record thins out is data governance. The privacy policy is competent but covers the website and its visitors, not the patient images the device processes.
