OptimizerAI
OptimizerAI is a text-to-sound engine that turns a written description into ready-to-use sound effects in stereo at 44.1 kHz, up to 60 seconds. Five takes per prompt, commercial use included, paid plans from USD 5 per month.
What is OptimizerAI?
OptimizerAI describes itself as a sound effects AI research and application company, and the product is narrow on purpose: you type what you want to hear, and the model returns it. The founders were AI researchers building mobile games as a hobby who got tired of hunting through sound libraries, and the tool is built around that irritation.
The prompt field takes ordinary language - the homepage shows examples such as futuristic canon shooting, dragon growling in low pitch and cartoon popping sound effect - and the model claims fine-grained control, distinguishing a large dog barking from a small one. Every generation returns five sounds rather than one, so the usual pick-and-retry loop happens inside a single credit spend. A magic prompt mode lets you describe the situation instead of the sound when you cannot name what you are after, and a style selector shapes the overall character of the output.
Two models coexist. Version 1 covers 0.1 to 10 seconds. Version 2, released on 8 December 2024, produces stereo audio at 44.1 kHz up to 60 seconds and adds a Voice tag for speech, holding a consistent voice across different scripts. Beyond generation, Variation derives five near-neighbours of a sound you already like, Upscale rebuilds a take with more detail, and an upload slot lets you feed in your own audio for reworking.
A public Featured library gathers example effects in eight categories - Voices, UI Sounds, Ambience, Impacts, Animals, Game Sounds, Gunshots and Swooshes - all listed as licence-free and downloadable. The company names film, animation, advertising and games as its target industries, and maintains nine use-case pages covering advertisers, animation producers, app and game developers, audio producers, film, podcasters, social media creators and video editors.
OptimizerAI, Inc. is registered in Delaware, with a team the careers page places in San Francisco and Seoul, backed by a16z Speedrun and Krew Capital. The pricing FAQ claims roughly 130,000 sounds generated per month. The product ships as a web application only; a separately documented API with a contractual service level agreement is sold under the Enterprise tier.
What it does
- Generate a sound effect from a plain-text description
- Get five takes per prompt and keep the one that fits
- Set duration in 0.1-second steps and pick an output style
- Create five variations of a sound you already like
- Upload your own audio file and have the model rework it
- Upscale a generated take into a more detailed version
- Generate spoken audio with the Voice tag, keeping one voice across scripts
When to use OptimizerAI / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if OptimizerAI is the right fit.
When to use OptimizerAI
- Game developers who need dozens of short, specific effects - footsteps, UI clicks, weapon hits - without trawling a stock library
- Video editors and short-form creators looking for a fast foley pass on ads, reels and animations
- Solo animators and indie studios with no sound design budget, since commercial use is included from the USD 5 tier
- Audio producers who want five variations of a reference sound in one pass rather than hunting for near-matches
- Product and UI designers sourcing interface sounds, a category the built-in library carries explicitly
When not to use OptimizerAI
- Anyone looking to generate music: the engine makes sound effects, and the separate sample-search page is a Korean-only landing page for a different product
- Teams needing long ambience beds, since output caps at 60 seconds and uploads at 10 seconds outside the top tier
- Regulated buyers who require a DPA, a subprocessor list or a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certificate, none of which is published
- Studios that need the tool inside an existing pipeline: no integration with a game engine, a DAW or an editing suite is named anywhere
- Anyone planning to resell the generated sounds as standalone products, which the terms prohibit outright
How to use OptimizerAI
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create an account from the Try For FREE button - there is nothing to install
- Type a plain description of the sound you want, or describe the situation and let magic prompt handle the wording
- Set the duration in 0.1-second steps and choose an output style; add the word Single to force one isolated foley hit
- Listen to the five sounds the model returns and keep the one that works
- Run Variation on a keeper to get five close alternatives, at a cost of five credits
- Tick Upscale during generation, or apply it afterwards, for a more detailed version of a take
- Upload your own audio file - up to 10 seconds, or 60 on Unlimited - to have the model rework it
- Trim the range you actually need in the player before downloading
- Download in MP3, or in WAV and FLAC above the Starter tier, using multi-select for batches
- For programmatic use, request API access and send your project key in an HTTPS header
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Low entry price for the category: USD 5 per month on annual billing
- Commercial use included on every paid plan, and ownership survives cancellation
- Five sounds per generation, which cuts the retry loop
- Documented output quality: stereo, 44.1 kHz, up to 60 seconds
- A licence-free example library you can audition and download before signing up
- Variation and Upscale cover the iteration that follows a first generation
- The API is sold with a contractual SLA: uptime targets, latency bands and service credits
Cons
- The terms take a perpetual, irrevocable licence over your prompts and over the sounds the service produces, surviving cancellation
- Model training is never addressed: no commitment either way, and no opt-out
- No DPA, no subprocessor list and no security certification published
- No Article 27 EU representative, despite a declared collection of EU personal data
- The terms set the minimum age at 13 and the privacy notice at 18, and the site does not reconcile them
- Both legal documents open on another product name and domain, UnlimitedSFX, rather than OptimizerAI
- No named integration with a game engine, a DAW or an editing suite, and no mobile app

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how OptimizerAI handles your data.
GDPR overview
The privacy notice, hosted on Termly and last updated on 17 January 2024, carries a dedicated section for EU and UK visitors. It names the GDPR and the UK GDPR, lists the legal bases relied on - consent, legal obligations, vital interests - and grants access, rectification, erasure, restriction and portability rights through a data subject access request. What it never does is claim compliance in so many words, which is why this record marks GDPR compliance as N: silence on the claim, not a denial. Three gaps back that reading. No representative is designated under Article 27, although the notice declares that EU personal data is collected; no data protection officer is named; and no international transfer framework is described for a US-based company. All privacy requests go to one generic address.
Who owns the data?
The terms state that you own every asset you create with the service, to the fullest extent applicable law allows, and that this ownership survives a downgrade or a cancellation. Two reservations apply: the obligations of the agreement itself, and the rights of any third party. In exchange, you grant OptimizerAI, its successors and assigns a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, sublicensable, royalty-free and irrevocable copyright licence over both the text and audio prompts you enter and the assets the service produces, and that licence expressly survives termination. Only the Enterprise and API tier advertises exclusive ownership of generated sounds as a separate benefit.
Reuse rights
Reuse is broad on the customer side. Sounds generated on any paid plan carry commercial use, and ownership persists after cancellation, so no further permission is needed to ship them in a game, a film or an advert. The one hard limit is resale: redistributing generated effects as standalone products is strictly prohibited. On the vendor side, the privacy notice lists service delivery, improvement, administration, communication, fraud prevention and legal compliance as its purposes, names Stripe as the only payment processor, and states that no personal information is sold or shared. Model training is never mentioned, in either document.

Hosting summary
No hosting jurisdiction is disclosed. Neither the privacy notice, nor the terms of service, nor any other page names a country, a region or a data centre where user data - accounts, prompts, uploaded audio or generated sounds - is stored. The Termly configuration behind the notice records no international transfer, without saying where processing takes place. Stripe is the only named third-party processor, and only for payment data; the terms refer to our servers for uploaded audio without locating them. What can be observed from outside concerns the website rather than the data: the domain resolves to an anycast edge address on Vercel infrastructure in the United States, which describes where pages are served from and says nothing about where the application stores what users create. Anyone with a jurisdictional requirement will have to ask the company directly.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting OptimizerAI.
- Rights: the terms grant OptimizerAI a perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable licence over your prompts and over the sounds returned, and it survives cancellation - read it before feeding in anything sensitive or client-owned
- Training: neither document says whether prompts or generated audio feed model training, and no opt-out is offered
- Document identity: the terms and the privacy notice both name another product and domain, UnlimitedSFX; the company name and address inside them do match OptimizerAI, Inc., but the discrepancy deserves clarification
- Compliance gaps: no DPA, no subprocessor list, no security certification, no Article 27 EU representative and no stated hosting jurisdiction
- Contradictory age rules: 13 in the terms, 18 in the privacy notice - a real problem if minors are among your users
- Craft erosion: five plausible takes in seconds makes it tempting to accept the first acceptable sound, and the ear for sound design is built precisely by the searching that this replaces
- Uploading a client's audio for reworking hands a third party material you may not have the right to license onward
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low for the intended user. OptimizerAI is a web application: create an account, type a description, set a duration, pick a style. There is nothing to install and no configuration step, and a public user guide walks through generation, variation and upscaling. The only technical path is the API, sold under the Enterprise tier: a project key travels in an HTTPS header, the default quota is one million calls per month, and access requires an annual contract - a straightforward integration, but one that goes through sales rather than self-service.

Should you pick OptimizerAI?
OptimizerAI does one thing and documents it properly. The pricing grid is public and complete, the user guide explains the interface, the Featured library lets you audition the model before paying, and eleven dated release notes trace the product from its April 2024 launch through to March 2025. For a game developer or a video editor who needs a steady supply of short, specific effects, the economics are hard to argue with: five takes per prompt, commercial use included, and an entry point at USD 5 per month on annual billing.
The reservations sit in the paperwork rather than in the product. The terms take a perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable licence over both the prompts you type and the sounds the service returns, and that licence outlives the contract. Neither document says whether any of that material is used to train the models, and no opt-out exists. There is no DPA, no subprocessor list and no security certification. No Article 27 representative is designated even though the privacy notice states that EU personal data is collected. And both legal documents open on a different product name and a different domain, UnlimitedSFX, although OptimizerAI, Inc. and its Delaware address are named inside them - a residue worth clarifying before any contractual commitment.
Two smaller points deserve attention. The terms set the minimum age at 13 while the privacy notice sets it at 18, and the site leaves the contradiction standing. The public release log stops in March 2025, which proves nothing on its own - the service runs and sells normally - but it is worth confirming that development is still active before building a pipeline around it.
For project-based work, the trade is reasonable. For a studio that needs contractual guarantees on data, ask for them in writing first.
