Even Realities
Even Realities builds Even G2 display smart glasses, 36 g and camera-free, paired with the optional Even R1 ring and a companion app. On-board Even AI handles conversation cues, transcription, 33-language translation and teleprompting. One-time purchase from $599, no subscription.
What is Even Realities?
Even Realities is a hardware company rather than a software service: it designs the Even G2 display smart glasses and the Even R1 smart ring, both driven by the Even Realities companion app. The positioning is the everyday display smart glasses - technology meant to disappear into ordinary life rather than announce itself. The group is registered as Hong Kong Even Realities Limited, with entities in Berlin, Delaware, Shenzhen and Tokyo, and a team drawn from Apple, Samsung, Philips, Mykita and Lindberg. Optics and eye protection were developed with Dr. Qu Jia, former president of Wenzhou Medical University.
The glasses project a green Micro LED image into binocular waveguides: 640x350, a 27.5 degree field of view, 60 Hz, 1200 nits, 98% passthrough, perceived at roughly two metres. The frame weighs 36 g in magnesium and titanium, with screwless hinges tested to 40,000 cycles, a 2 m drop test, IP65 rating, BLE 5.4 and four microphones. Battery life is announced at up to two days, with a charging case holding seven full charges and a recharge of one to one and a half hours. Prescription lenses are digitally surfaced from -12.00 to +12.00 with more than 100 coating layers, and an UltraFit service at partner opticians fine-tunes the fit; the company says it analysed 100,000 3D head shapes in a behavioural lab.
There is no camera, presented as a deliberate privacy choice: input comes from directional microphones effective up to three metres. Above the hardware sits Even AI, running on the proprietary Even LLM, with long-term memory, proactive prompts and voice control. Conversate combines Prep Notes, AI Cues (suggestions, replies, concepts, bios), live transcription and an AI Summary. Translate covers 33 languages, some of them - Arabic, Bengali, Hindi - one-way only, and routes through the cloud via the app. Teleprompt scrolls a script at the pace of the voice, Transcribe produces real-time subtitles. ChatGPT and Perplexity appear on the AI page but are flagged Even G1 only.
The Even R1 ring adds heart rate, HRV, SpO2, temperature, sleep and a Productivity Score in zirconia ceramic and medical stainless steel, IP68, four days of battery. TriSync keeps glasses, phone and ring aligned, and Even Hub opens the platform to third-party apps through a developer SDK and console.
What it does
- Display prep notes and AI cues in the lenses during a live conversation
- Transcribe speech in real time and produce an AI summary once the conversation ends
- Translate the spoken word to the display across 33 languages, original and translation side by side
- Run a teleprompter that scrolls at the pace of the speaker's own voice
- Answer spoken questions on the 'Hey Even' wake word, through Even AI and the proprietary Even LLM
- Surface calendar, reminders, filtered notifications and a checkable task list at a glance
- Give turn-by-turn walking and driving directions with Google Maps coverage
When to use Even Realities / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Even Realities is the right fit.
When to use Even Realities
- Professionals heading into high-stakes conversations - job interviews, negotiations, sales pitches, client meetings - who want Prep Notes and AI Cues in their field of view rather than on a phone screen
- Speakers, trainers and presenters who want Teleprompt to scroll their script at the pace of their own voice, without a lectern screen or a handheld device
- People working across languages, who need spoken translation displayed live in the lenses across the 33 supported languages
- Prescription eyewear wearers who would rather have one pair: lenses are digitally surfaced from -12.00 to +12.00 and built into the frame
- Users with hearing accessibility needs - Even Realities cites the USA Deaf Swimming Team - who benefit from live transcription and translation sitting directly in their line of sight
When not to use Even Realities
- Anyone who needs a camera: the glasses take no photos and no video, and cannot analyse or recognise anything in the visual environment
- Users looking for a standalone or offline device: the glasses rely on the phone's internet connection, and Conversate and Translate do not work without it
- People expecting immersive augmented reality: the display is a monochrome green heads-up image at 640x350 with a 27.5 degree field of view, not a spatial AR headset
- Buyers on a tight budget: the entry point is a $599 hardware purchase, plus $249 if the Even R1 ring is added
- Progressive lens wearers who want to order online: progressives are only available through partner opticians, not through the web store
How to use Even Realities
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Choose a frame in the online selection tool: Even G2 A or Even G2 B, in three colourways
- Upload a prescription for corrective lenses, or select non-prescription lenses
- Install the Even Realities app on iOS or Android and pair the glasses over Bluetooth
- Pair the Even R1 ring in the same app if one is used
- Set privacy preferences under Settings > Privacy: Use AI Memory, Share usage data, Include audio recordings, File and Record Cloud Sync
- Wake the assistant with the 'Hey Even' voice command, the TouchPad on the temple, or the ring
- Start Conversate before an important conversation and load the Prep Notes into it
- Tap the TouchPad during a translated exchange to show the original text next to the translation
- Review transcripts and AI summaries in the app once the conversation is over
- Book the UltraFit service at a partner optician to adjust tilt, lens-to-eye distance and wrap angle
Pros & Cons
Pros
- No camera by design, which removes most of the social friction that follows smart glasses and is used as an explicit privacy argument
- Ordinary eyewear proportions: 36 g, magnesium and titanium, screwless hinges tested to 40,000 cycles, IP65 rating and a 2 m drop test
- Prescription lenses built into the frame from -12.00 to +12.00, more than 100 coating layers, with an optional UltraFit adjustment at a partner optician
- No subscription: everything is included in the one-time purchase, which is HSA/FSA eligible, carries a 14-day return window and a two-year warranty in Europe, one year elsewhere
- Explicit commitment not to train models on customer data, backed by granular opt-in privacy settings for AI memory, usage data and audio
- Data hosted in the Netherlands, controller established in the EU, appointed DPO, Standard Contractual Clauses and UK IDTA for transfers
- Open to developers: npm SDK, Even Hub console, public documentation and a Discord community; battery life announced up to two days with a case worth seven charges
Cons
- High hardware entry cost: $599 for the glasses, $249 more for the Even R1 ring, and accessories on top
- A phone is mandatory, and Conversate and Translate stop working as soon as the internet connection does
- Monochrome green display at 640x350 with a 27.5 degree field of view, and no camera: this is a heads-up display, not immersive AR, and it cannot recognise or capture what the wearer is looking at
- ChatGPT and Perplexity are flagged Even G1 only on the AI page; the G2 relies on the in-house Even LLM instead
- Lens constraints: progressives cannot be ordered online, prescription lens orders can only be cancelled within 24 hours, and the 14-day return applies to non-prescription lenses
- Transparency gaps: no named list of sub-processors is published, the DPA covers only the developer platform, and no App Store or Google Play link is exposed, the app being downloaded from app.evenrealities.com
- Community feedback republished on the site (Discord, Reddit) mentions bugs later fixed by patches and accidental ring activations; these are user accounts, not vendor specifications
Pricing & Plans
There is no free plan and no free trial: Even Realities sells hardware on a one-time purchase basis, with no subscription, as the Conversate page states plainly. The entry price is 599.00 USD for the Even G2 A or the Even G2 B, both listed as From $599. The previous generation Even G1 A remains on sale from $499. The Even R1 ring is 249 USD and its charger 49 USD. Accessories are priced separately: clip and pouch 99 USD, case 149 USD, temple sleeves 5 USD, nose pads 10 USD. Prices are displayed in USD, with the store set to United States. Volume purchases go through an Enterprise Purchase form with no public rate. Orders are HSA/FSA eligible, come with a 14-day return for non-prescription glasses and a 24-hour cancellation window for prescription lenses, and a warranty of two years in Europe, one year in other regions.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Even Realities handles your data.
GDPR overview
GDPR implementation is concrete rather than declarative. The controller is established in the EU (Even Realities GmbH, Berlin) and a Data Protection Officer has been appointed. The privacy policy details data subject rights: access, portability, rectification, erasure, withdrawal of consent, restriction, objection and complaint to a supervisory authority, some of them exercisable directly in the interface under Account > Orders. International transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Agreement. Prighter Group is the privacy representative for the United Kingdom and Switzerland - not an EU Article 27 representative, since the company is established inside the EU. A Data Processing Agreement is published for the Even Hub developer platform, with SCC modules and general authorisation of sub-processors (clause 9, option 2). Dedicated sections cover California (CPRA) and Singapore (PDPA).
Who owns the data?
Even Realities GmbH, Friedrichstrasse 79, 10117 Berlin, is named as the data controller, with a Data Protection Officer reachable at privacy@evenrealities.com. The website itself is operated by Hong Kong Even Realities Limited; Even Realities GmbH is the EEA entity and Even Realities US Inc the United States one. Prighter Group acts as privacy representative for the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Content stays close to the user: Conversate transcripts and AI summaries are stored on the paired smartphone, and no voice recordings are kept. The company states on its product pages that no data is stored in the cloud without explicit consent.
Reuse rights
Even Realities collects account, order, device and usage data, plus AI interactions - queries, responses and feedback. AI memory, which personalises Even AI and Conversate, is strictly opt-in under Settings > Privacy > Use AI Memory and can be switched off at any time; the notice states it is not used for AI model training and not used for advertising or marketing. A separate opt-in, Help Improve Our User Experience, shares de-identified and aggregated usage data. Audio recordings, when shared, are used only in aggregated or anonymised form to tune noise reduction, echo cancellation and gain, never for content analysis, content recognition or model training. Read the vendor's own definition of training, which it states explicitly: modifying the parameters, weights or architecture of a large language model, and excluding prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation and context configuration. For Prep Notes, the uploaded file is not retained, only the extracted context may be. The company reports no sale and no sharing of personal data in the CPRA sense.

Hosting summary
Data generated through the use of Even Realities products is stored on servers located in the Netherlands. Website, order, support and logistics data may be processed by third-party providers, potentially in the United States or elsewhere. Intra-group remote access is disclosed for teams in Hong Kong, Shenzhen (China), Tokyo (Japan) and Dover (United States). Cross-border transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement and transfer impact assessments. Security measures listed include encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access control, least privilege and multi-factor authentication. Some content never reaches a server at all: Conversate transcripts and AI summaries stay on the paired smartphone, and no voice recordings are kept. The controller is Even Realities GmbH in Berlin, with a Data Protection Officer reachable at privacy@evenrealities.com.

Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Even Realities.
- Conversate records and transcribes conversations: obtaining the consent of the other participants is left entirely to the wearer, and the site does not address the question
- The Even R1 ring collects health data - heart rate, HRV, SpO2, temperature, sleep - under a separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy, and the site carries a medical disclaimer: no treatment should be changed on the basis of ring readings without medical advice
- Leaning on AI Cues and prep notes mid-conversation can pull attention away from the person in front of you: the display is a prompt, not a substitute for preparation or for listening
- The Terms of Service impose individual arbitration and waive class actions
- Applicable law and recourse depend on the contracting entity - Germany for the GmbH, other regimes for Hong Kong and the United States - and the group discloses intra-group remote access from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Tokyo and Dover
- Age limits apply: the product is not intended for anyone under 18 for the ring, and prescription lens orders are restricted to buyers aged 16 and over
- No named list of sub-processors is published, and the Data Processing Agreement that is published covers only the Even Hub developer platform
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low for the end user. Setting up means choosing a frame, uploading a prescription if needed, installing the Even Realities app on iOS or Android and pairing over Bluetooth, then pairing the Even R1 ring if one is used. No technical skill is required. An optional UltraFit adjustment can be booked at a partner optician for the optical fit. On the developer side the effort is real but standard: an npm SDK, the Even Hub console, published documentation and a Discord community, with the platform still in a pilot phase.

Should you pick Even Realities?
Even Realities sells hardware, not a subscription, and that single fact reframes the comparison: a one-time purchase, $599 for the Even G2 and $249 more for the Even R1 ring, with no recurring fee, no free tier and no trial. It is a pair of glasses that happen to display text, not a service that can be cancelled next month.
The differentiation is coherent. No camera, which removes the social objection that has followed smart glasses for a decade. Prescription lenses from -12.00 to +12.00 built into the frame, so the product replaces eyewear instead of sitting on top of it. 36 g of magnesium and titanium, in a shape that reads as ordinary glasses. The AI layer - Even AI on the proprietary Even LLM, Conversate, Translate, Teleprompt - targets conversations and public speaking rather than browsing.
The data posture is unusually explicit for consumer hardware: servers in the Netherlands, a controller established in the EU with an appointed DPO, SCCs and the UK IDTA for transfers, opt-in AI memory, no voice recordings kept and a stated commitment not to train models on customer data. That commitment comes with the vendor's own definition of training, worth reading before drawing conclusions.
The limits are just as clear. The glasses depend on a phone for connectivity, and Conversate and Translate stop working offline. The display is monochrome green at 640x350 with a 27.5 degree field of view: a heads-up display, not augmented reality. Progressives cannot be ordered online. The Even Hub developer ecosystem is recent, still in pilot.
Suited to professionals who talk for a living - interviews, negotiations, presentations, multilingual meetings - and to prescription wearers who want a single pair. Less suited to anyone expecting a camera, immersive AR or a low entry price.
