Pupil names never reach the model: they are replaced by initials, class and number before the call, and reinjected server-side afterwards.

Implementation is unusually documented for a vendor this size. Klas'route states it is fully GDPR compliant and publishes an Article 30 processing register updated on 13 February 2026, a data protection impact assessment reviewed yearly, a public Article 28 data processing agreement covering the EU AI Act, a named subprocessor list, a retention matrix and an accessibility statement. Six legal bases are cited, including the public-interest task of Belgian schools and Article 9(2)(g) for pupil-support notes. Who owns the data?

When a school buys Klas'route, the school is the data controller and BV Cafe General is only the processor under Article 28 GDPR, formalised in a data processing agreement. When a teacher or parent signs up individually, Klas'route becomes the controller. The application hosting and the AI gateway are operated by Lovable AB in Sweden with EU routing, and the Google Gemini models are called in the europe-west region under a Google Cloud data processing addendum signed on 19 June 2026, with standard contractual clauses and Data Privacy Framework certification declared applicable. Transactional e-mail goes through Resend, and Cloudflare provides CDN, DNS and DDoS protection, receiving IP addresses and request metadata but no content.
