GDPR overview

Smart11 B.V. is established in Groningen, in the Netherlands, therefore inside the European Union; Dutch law governs the terms and the Groningen court has jurisdiction. The privacy policy, last updated in October 2025, is written within a GDPR frame: it opens the rights of access, rectification, erasure and objection, all exercised by email to tech@smart11.ai, and it addresses minors, assuming that a user under 16 has permission from a parent or guardian because the regulation forbids processing a minor's personal data without it. No Article 27 representative is named, which is consistent for an EU-based publisher. What the site does not publish counts too: no data processing agreement, no list of sub-processors, no hosting country and no security certification such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2. The regulation is invoked as a framework, but compliance is nowhere claimed in so many words.

Who owns the data?

Smart11's terms are explicit on ownership: anything you upload remains yours. Uploading grants Smart11 only a revocable, non-exclusive licence to process the material as needed for the service to function properly. The platform itself, its technology and Smart11's own content stay the property of the publisher. Material a coach creates inside SmartCoach is attached to the coach or team account for as long as the subscription runs; once it ends, clips already shared with players can remain accessible while private notes and analyses may be deleted. Under a team or club licence, the coach or the club can access player data, with parental consent where that applies.

Reuse rights

Smart11 collects first and last name, email address, club or team and playing position, the match footage in which the user and third parties may appear, and the content of in-app conversations. It uses them to run the account and its analyses, to deliver performance feedback, to send product news, which can be unsubscribed from, and to improve its AI models, in that last case only from anonymised footage. The publisher rules out profiling and personalised advertising, and states that data are not shared with third parties outside Smart11, sports associations, clubs and other external partners included, unless the law requires it. Payments are handled by Stripe rather than by the publisher. Every uploaded match is analysed automatically, with shirt numbers, ball possession and key events detected, which the terms describe as done without storing personal data. Because ownership of uploaded content stays with the user, that material and the clips and playlists derived from it remain the user's to reuse, Smart11's own licence over it being revocable and limited to running the service.

Data retention & training

Hosting summary

Smart11 publishes nothing about where its data are hosted. No country, no region, not even a generic mention of the EU or Europe, and no hosting provider appears anywhere on the site. The privacy policy stops at a general security statement: We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data from loss or misuse. Only authorized personnel have access to your data. No security certification is claimed, whether ISO 27001, SOC 2 or NEN 7510, and no data processing agreement or sub-processor list is published; the only named third party is Stripe, which handles payments instead of the publisher. What is known is jurisdictional rather than technical: Smart11 B.V. is established in Groningen, in the Netherlands, its terms are governed by Dutch law and disputes go before the Groningen court, none of which says where the footage physically sits. On a purely technical note, and as an observation rather than a statement by the publisher, the public website resolves to a Hetzner IP address in Finland; that describes the marketing site, not where the platform stores user video.
