DreamGift is a free AI gift shopper called Bliss, built for anyone stuck on a present. It asks about the occasion and the recipient, then suggests real Amazon products. Funded by affiliate commissions, never by users.
What is DreamGift?
DreamGift is an AI gift-finding assistant published by Lifehack Labs LLC, an Austin, Texas company, and online since May 2023. It greets you as a character rather than a search box: "I'm Bliss, your personal AI gift shopper". Behind the persona sits a large language model - the About page credits GPT, while the terms mention "GPT, Stable Diffusion, and others". What separates it from a general chatbot is who asks the questions. Instead of waiting for a fully formed request, the assistant interrogates you: "Unlike your run-of-the-mill ChatGPT, I take a proactive approach... I'll actively ask you questions about the occasion and the person you're gifting." Those answers narrow the field, and what comes back is not a list of abstract ideas but merchandise you can buy: "I'll pull some photos, descriptions, and real-time price data from Amazon." The coverage is deliberately wide. More than forty occasion types are handled, from birthdays, graduations, retirements, weddings and engagements to housewarmings, baby showers, Quinceaneras, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, christenings, new jobs, promotions, work anniversaries, get-well, condolence and thank-you gifts, and the whole seasonal calendar: Christmas, Hanukkah, Mother's and Father's Day, New Year, Easter, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Diwali, Purim, Rosh Hashana, Passover, Ramadan and Eid, plus Secret Santa and White Elephant exchanges. Alongside the chat, 1,074 gift-guide pages are listed in the sitemap, each one dated (a sample page was refreshed on 7 August 2026). There are two doors in: the web chat at dreamgift.ai/chat, and a DreamGift GPT inside ChatGPT. Both are entirely free, and the business model is stated openly: Amazon affiliate commission, through the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. It is worth being equally clear about what DreamGift is not. There is no API, no mobile app and no team account. It is a single-purpose consumer tool, and its press coverage - The New York Times of 7 July 2023, Fast Company, Ben's Bites, Superpower Daily, Product Hunt - matches that positioning.

We're here to make your gifting experience easier and more enjoyable, without costing you a dime." There is no pricing page, no amount shown anywhere on the site or in its sitemap, no paid plan, no paid trial and no announced usage limit. The service is funded by affiliate commission instead: the publisher earns a fee when a user buys through a suggested link, as the terms set out - "We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites" - and as each guide page repeats: "We may earn commissions for purchases made via this page." One inconsistency should be noted: the terms carry a standard clause on in-app purchases, upgrades and non-refundable fees, although no paid offer matching it exists on the site.

GDPR overview
The privacy policy carries a dedicated chapter, "Your Data Protection Rights Under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)", which opens: "If you are a resident of the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights, covered by GDPR." It lists access, update, deletion, rectification, objection, restriction, portability and withdrawal of consent, and points to the right to complain to an EEA supervisory authority. CalOPPA and CCPA chapters follow. Every right runs through one address: legal@lifehacklabs.org. The limits are as plain as the rights. The site never claims to be GDPR compliant, names no Article 27 EU representative, no data protection officer, and offers no DPA. Data is "transferred to the United States and processed there", with no transfer mechanism named. The policy is dated 18 May 2023 and has not been revised since.
Who owns the data?
Lifehack Labs LLC names itself the data controller for everything gathered through DreamGift, and the privacy policy is unusually direct about ownership: you are described as "the only owner of your Personal Data", free to request disclosure or deletion at any time. The company commits in the same breath not to sell or rent personal information to third parties, for any purpose. One channel carries all of it, legal@lifehacklabs.org. Ownership does not mean the data stays in one pair of hands, however: it is shared with named analytics, error-tracking and advertising providers, and no document on the site says whether it ever feeds AI model training.
Reuse rights
DreamGift collects what you volunteer - email address, first and last name, phone number, social media profiles - plus usage data captured automatically: IP address, browser type and version, pages visited, dates and times, time spent and device identifiers. Location data is taken only with your permission. The stated purposes are running and maintaining the service, customer support, analysis and improvement, detecting technical incidents, billing and account notifications, along with marketing newsletters and offers you can unsubscribe from. Session, preference, security and advertising cookies are in use, including remarketing through Google Ads, Twitter and Facebook. The providers named are Google Analytics, PostHog, Amplitude, Segment and Mixpanel for analytics, GitHub for CI/CD, Sentry for error tracking, Stripe and PayPal for payment, and Google AdSense for advertising. What no document addresses is equally worth knowing: nothing on the site says whether user data is used to train AI models, and no training opt-out is offered. In the other direction, the terms forbid robots, scraping or automated copying of the site, so its content is not yours to reuse freely.

Hosting summary
The only hosting statement on the site is a jurisdictional one, not a technical one: if you are outside the United States and choose to provide information, the policy says the data, including personal data, is transferred to the United States and processed there. That single sentence is the whole disclosure. No hosting provider, no data centre and no region is named. No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification is displayed, and no encryption promise is made anywhere. The policy is at least candid about its own limits: "The security of your data is important to us but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure." One observation from outside the site's own statements: the domain is served through Cloudflare (AS13335) on the anycast address 172.67.157.100, which tells you how the pages reach your browser, not where anything is stored. For a European user the practical reading is simple - processing happens under United States jurisdiction, with no transfer mechanism named and no processing agreement on offer.

- The recommendations pay the bills. Every suggestion points to Amazon and earns a commission - "As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases" - which the site discloses honestly, but a shortlist shaped by one catalogue is still a shortlist shaped by one catalogue. It is also worth remembering that outsourcing the choice is not the same as outsourcing the thought that usually makes a gift land.
- The terms themselves warn about the output: content and recommendations are generated by AI models such as GPT and Stable Diffusion, and "in some cases, such data generated by AI models isn't reliable, accurate, complete, or truthful". Check anything that matters before you buy.
- Prices and availability are not guaranteed by DreamGift: what counts is what Amazon displays at the moment of purchase.
- The minimum age is contradictory - eighteen in the terms, thirteen in the privacy policy - so a parent cannot tell from the site which rule actually applies.
- Data is transferred to and processed in the United States, with no DPA, no Article 27 EU representative and no named transfer mechanism, under a privacy policy dated 18 May 2023 and never revised since.
- Reaching a human is thin: no address exists on the dreamgift.ai domain, "Contact Us" opens a Google Form hosted off-site, the only two emails belong to lifehacklabs.org, and the footer's "Meet The Team" link leads to the founder's personal newsletter rather than a team page.
- Read the terms before assuming what you agree to: they describe in-app purchases, upgrades and non-refundable fees that have no counterpart on the site, and they forbid any robot, scraping or automated copying.
