Opinly
Opinly is a UK-built SEO automation platform that audits sites, tracks keywords, generates and publishes AI content, trades backlinks and measures how often ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude name your brand. Its pricing is not public.
What is Opinly?
Opinly is a subscription SEO platform published by Opinly.ai, a company established in Northern Ireland. Its pitch is execution rather than reporting: where most SEO suites surface data and stop, Opinly sets out to work through the to-do list it produces. The product is organised into six toolkits. Site Audit scans for broken links, missing files and SSL problems, then tracks an audit score against competitors over time. Keyword Tracking and Research follows positions across markets and surfaces opportunities by volume, intent and competition. Content Optimization generates SEO articles with AI, schedules them and publishes them automatically. Platform Integration connects WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify and Webflow from the dashboard, or through first-party SDKs for Next.js, Nuxt, SvelteKit, React and Vue. Backlink Building runs a community exchange network in place of manual outreach. Competitor Analysis tracks rivals' rankings, content and link profiles and highlights keyword and backlink gaps.
A second strand covers generative engine optimisation. An LLM Tracking add-on, attached automatically to every subscription, measures how often ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude name your brand rather than a competitor, prompt by prompt, and places you on a leaderboard.
The technical surface is unusually developed for a company founded in late 2023. Opinly exposes a versioned REST API at /v1 with API-key authentication, a typed client package, webhooks and a first-party analytics pixel that records page views, conversions and revenue attribution. It also runs a remote MCP server over Streamable HTTP with OAuth 2.0, offering 61 tools, of which 32 read, 23 write and 6 delete, so that Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code can find a keyword gap and publish the resulting article in the same conversation. Each tool declares what it does before it acts. Generation itself relies on OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock and xAI. The one thing the site never shows is a price: the pricing page is noindexed and sends anonymous visitors straight to the sign-in screen. Opinly claims 15,000 sites and 30,000 marketers.

When to use Opinly / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Opinly is the right fit.
When to use Opinly
- Marketing and growth teams that want SEO work executed automatically rather than merely measured
- Agencies and consultants running SEO on client accounts, a use the terms of service explicitly provide for
- Sites built on WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify or Webflow, which connect straight from the dashboard
- Product and engineering teams on Next.js, Nuxt, SvelteKit, React or Vue, which get first-party SDKs
- Brands that want to know how often ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude cite them rather than their competitors
When not to use Opinly
- Buyers who need to see a price before opening an account, since no amount is published anywhere
- Anyone unwilling to register a payment method for a three-day trial that converts on its own
- Teams that need a refund path, because fees become non-refundable as soon as the trial converts
- Procurement functions that require an EU Article 27 representative or a vendor-held SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certificate
- Practitioners after black-hat tactics such as private blog networks or paid link schemes, which the terms forbid
How to use Opinly
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create an account from the sign-up page; authentication is handled by Clerk
- Start the three-day free trial, which requires a valid payment method up front
- Note that the LLM Tracking add-on is attached automatically, with its own thirty-day trial
- Connect your site: WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify or Webflow from the dashboard, or a manual integration
- Developers install the SDK instead, for Next.js, Nuxt, SvelteKit, React or Vue
- Collect your API key and CDN namespace from the get-started documentation
- Install the analytics pixel by script tag or framework package, then confirm it is reporting
- Define conversion goals so that revenue is attributed back to the campaign that earned it
- Add the remote MCP server as a connector in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code and approve OAuth access
- Cancel from account settings at any time; access runs to the end of the period already paid for
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Covers audit, keywords, content, backlinks, competitors and AI-search visibility in a single platform
- Executes rather than only reports: it generates, schedules and publishes the content it recommends
- Its MCP server writes as well as reads, where most SEO connectors stop at returning data
- Public and well-structured technical documentation, including an llms.txt index and an API reference
- First-party SDKs for five JavaScript frameworks, plus webhooks and a first-party analytics pixel
- Unusually complete and recent legal set: privacy policy, terms, and a DPA with SCCs and a named sub-processor list
- Clear stance on AI training: neither Opinly nor its model providers may train on customer data
Cons
- No public pricing whatsoever: the pricing page is noindexed and redirects to the sign-in screen
- Marketing contradicts the terms, promising no credit card and no add-on costs where the terms require a payment method and bill an add-on separately
- The free trial lasts only three days and converts automatically into a paid subscription
- No refunds once the trial has converted, and consumed credits are never refunded
- The terms let Opinly adjust your plan before the first bill, and switch a failed annual subscription to monthly without notice
- No postal address, company number or legal form is published anywhere on the site
- No EU Article 27 representative, no vendor-held security certification and no in-product cookie control
Pricing & Plans
Opinly publishes no price. Its pricing page responds but is marked noindex and redirects visitors who are not signed in to the login screen, so no amount can be quoted here, and even the comparison table Opinly itself publishes against Ahrefs shows only the words Free to start in its own column. The terms of service describe a subscription billed monthly or annually, a three-day free trial that requires a valid payment method, an LLM Tracking add-on billed separately after a thirty-day trial, and usage-based Blog and Image Credits consumed as you go. Whether a permanently free plan exists is neither confirmed nor denied by the published material.
Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Opinly handles your data.
GDPR overview
Opinly publishes a substantial GDPR framework rather than a bare privacy notice: a privacy policy updated 20 July 2026, terms of service dated 30 April 2026, and a full Article 28 data processing agreement dated 15 June 2026. It names itself as controller, states that it is established in Northern Ireland, cites the ICO as lead supervisory authority, and sets out rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent. The DPA incorporates the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK IDTA Addendum, commits to breach notification within 72 hours and grants an annual audit right. Two gaps are stated openly: no EU representative has been appointed under Article 27, the policy saying only that details will appear if one ever is, and there is no in-product cookie control, browser settings being the sole option offered.
Who owns the data?
You keep ownership of what you upload. Section 6.2 of the terms gives Opinly a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, modify and display your content, limited to operating, providing and improving the service. AI output generated for your account is delivered to you and is not shared with other customers. Opinly acts as data controller for account information and as processor for the customer data its pixel collects; when you are an agency working for your own clients, it becomes a sub-processor. Once the contract ends you choose, by written notice within thirty days, whether your data is deleted or returned.
Reuse rights
Opinly states that it does not use your content or the AI output it generates to train its own foundation models, and it contractually forbids its model providers, named as OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock and xAI, from training on customer data. It does reserve the right to use aggregated, anonymised or de-identified data for analytics, benchmarking and product improvement. The terms also warn that prompts sent to third-party providers may be stored transiently under those providers' own retention policies, which Opinly does not control. No opt-out switch is offered, since exclusion from training is the default rather than a setting. Personal data is not sold and is not shared for cross-context behavioural advertising. You may reuse the AI output you generate without asking permission, but you are solely responsible for reviewing, fact-checking and labelling it before publishing, and Opinly guarantees neither its accuracy nor its originality.

Hosting summary
Hosting rests on Amazon Web Services, in the United States and in EU regions when the customer is based in the EEA or the United Kingdom. The application database is managed by PlanetScale in the United States, product analytics by PostHog in either the United States or the EU depending on configuration, and authentication, payments, messaging and error monitoring by Clerk, Stripe, Klaviyo and Sentry, mostly in the United States. Model inference runs with OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock and xAI in the United States. Transfers out of the UK and the EEA rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK IDTA Addendum, with supplementary measures where needed. Opinly documents TLS 1.2 or higher in transit, AES-256 at rest, multi-factor authentication on production access, segregated environments, encrypted backups and a documented incident response process; the analytics pixel hashes IP addresses before storage and collects no precise location. The publisher holds no security certification of its own and points instead to those of its sub-processors.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Opinly.
- The price is invisible until you create an account and hand over a payment method, which makes an informed comparison impossible beforehand
- A three-day trial that converts automatically is easy to forget; set a reminder on the day you sign up rather than trusting yourself to remember
- Automated publishing can push AI text live without a human reading it: the terms make you solely responsible for fact-checking, and warn the output may contain fabrications
- Leaning on automated content and backlink exchange can erode the editorial judgement and audience knowledge that made a site worth ranking in the first place
- The backlink exchange sits close to practices search engines penalise; the terms forbid manipulative link schemes while leaving the liability with you
- No result is guaranteed: the terms exclude any warranty on rankings, traffic or citation by an AI system, all of which depend on third parties
- The publisher discloses no address, company number or legal form, and appoints no EU Article 27 representative, which weakens any recourse you might need
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low for a marketer, low for a developer, for different reasons. Non-technical users create an account and connect WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify or Webflow from the dashboard, where the pixel and revenue tracking install themselves. Developers take an API key and a CDN namespace and drop in the SDK for Next.js, Nuxt, SvelteKit, React or Vue, with a quickstart advertised at under five minutes. Connecting an AI assistant is the simplest path of all: add the remote MCP server as a connector and approve OAuth access, with no API key and nothing to install.

Should you pick Opinly?
Opinly is a more serious piece of engineering than its marketing suggests. For a company founded in late 2023, the technical surface is broad and genuinely documented: six SEO toolkits, a versioned REST API, SDKs for five JavaScript frameworks, webhooks, a first-party analytics pixel, and a remote MCP server whose 61 tools are listed one by one with their read, write or delete behaviour. The legal corpus is equally unusual for this size of vendor, with a recent privacy policy, terms of service and a complete Article 28 data processing agreement carrying the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK IDTA and a named sub-processor list. The stance on AI training is clear and favourable: neither Opinly nor its model providers may train on customer data.
The reservations sit on the commercial side. Nothing about the price is public — the pricing page is noindexed and pushes anonymous visitors to the login screen — and the sales copy sits awkwardly against its own contract, promising no credit card and no add-on costs where the terms require a payment method for a three-day trial, bill an LLM Tracking add-on separately and sell usage credits. That trial converts on its own, refunds are excluded once it does, and the terms reserve the right to adjust your plan before the first bill or to move a failed annual subscription onto monthly billing without notice.
Identity is the other thin spot: no postal address, company number or legal form appears anywhere, only a statement of establishment in Northern Ireland. Add the absence of an EU Article 27 representative, of any vendor-held certification, and of an in-product cookie control, and the picture is of a capable product whose transparency has not yet caught up with its engineering. Worth a trial, billing terms read first.
