Overview

What is Matik?

Matik is a content automation platform built by Matik, Inc. in San Francisco. It turns the presentations, documents and reports a company already produces into templates that fill themselves from live business data, and it wraps that generation in AI that writes the accompanying insights, executive summaries and talk tracks.

The technical premise is that Matik queries data rather than ingesting it. Instead of copying a customer's warehouse into its own store, it keeps only the encrypted credentials needed to run the query at generation time. That choice shortens implementation and narrows how much customer data ever sits in Matik's systems.

Around twenty active connectors cover six families of sources: CRMs such as Salesforce, HubSpot and Gainsight; BI tools including Tableau, Looker and Power BI; warehouses from Snowflake and BigQuery to Redshift, Databricks, Presto, Athena, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Azure; spreadsheets in Google Sheets and Excel; applications such as Productboard; and any unlisted source through a REST API. Output lands in the formats teams already circulate: Google Slides, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Word, Google Sheets, Excel, PDF, and email bodies or attachments.

Five feature families structure the product. Basic Automation fills text and visuals from existing dashboards. AI-Powered Automation builds new branded templates by scanning a company's website, retrieves content by intent rather than keyword, derives insights and explains where each figure comes from. Smart Automation applies if-then logic so the story shifts with the data. Workflow Automation generates on a schedule, a trigger or in bulk and can send the result out by email. Content Management supplies a slide library, per-user templates, analytics and custom save locations.

Matik also ships an app for Salesforce, an integration with Highspot, an MCP server that lets any AI environment or custom GPT call it, and a free Chrome extension in beta named Smart Data Sync. It targets Customer Success, Digital CS, sales, operations, analytics, enablement and finance teams across SaaS, IT services, healthcare, manufacturing, energy, retail, financial services, travel, public sector and media. Asana, Okta, Zapier, Greenhouse, Glassdoor, Salesloft, Samsara and Bazaarvoice appear as published case studies. Access is sales-led: the only entry point on the site is a demo request.

What it does

  • Connect a CRM, BI tool, data warehouse or spreadsheet and query it live, without copying the data into Matik
  • Turn an existing Slides, PowerPoint, Docs or Word file into a dynamic template by tagging its static elements
  • Generate personalized text, images, tables and charts at person, team or account level
  • Let the AI write the insights, executive summaries and talk tracks that go with the figures
  • Apply if-then logic so the slides and the message change with the data and the audience
  • Refresh every figure in an already generated document in one click, or regenerate in bulk on a schedule or a trigger
  • Send the finished content automatically as an email attachment, or call Matik from another AI environment through its MCP server

When to use Matik / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Matik is the right fit.

When to use Matik

  • Customer Success teams that owe recurring business reviews or QBRs to hundreds of accounts and cannot build them by hand
  • Revenue operations and sales teams that need account-level decks grounded in live CRM and product data
  • Analytics and BI teams drowning in ad hoc reporting requests, who would rather hand the reporting back to the business
  • Enablement and product marketing teams maintaining shared templates that must stay consistent across every seller
  • Companies already running a data warehouse or BI tool and already circulating Google Slides, PowerPoint, Docs or Word files

When not to use Matik

  • Individuals and small teams looking to buy online: there is no self-service signup, no public price and no free tier to start from
  • Anyone wanting a quick answer on budget, since the pricing link in the site navigation has been broken since at least February 2024
  • Organizations with no structured data source to connect, as Matik generates nothing without a CRM, BI tool, warehouse or spreadsheet behind it
  • Teams looking for a creative design generator: output is confined to Google and Microsoft office formats, PDF and email
  • Buyers who need mobile apps, a public API with documentation, or a short commitment, given the one-year default term
Get started

How to use Matik

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Request a demo from the website, since there is no self-service signup and no public price list
  2. Agree the scope and sign an Order Form, which defines the services covered and the fees
  3. Connect your data sources: CRM, BI tool, data warehouse, spreadsheet or a custom source through the REST API
  4. Bring in the presentations, documents or reports your team already uses, rather than rebuilding them
  5. Define the data and metrics each template should pull, then tag the static elements to make them dynamic
  6. Let the AI propose a fully branded starter template by scanning your company website, if you prefer to start from scratch
  7. Add if-then logic so slides, figures and wording adapt to the account, the segment or the audience
  8. Generate content per account, in bulk, on a schedule or on a trigger, and refresh existing files in one click
  9. Automate delivery by sending the generated content as an email attachment to colleagues, prospects or customers
  10. Optionally connect your own AI environment or custom GPT to Matik's MCP server to drive generation from there

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Queries data instead of ingesting it, which shortens setup and limits how much customer data Matik ever holds
  • Works with the templates and office formats teams already use, so nothing has to be rebuilt or migrated
  • Broad and concrete connector coverage: around twenty live sources across CRMs, BI tools, warehouses and spreadsheets
  • Serious security posture for the category: SOC 2 Type I and Type II obtained, AES-256 encryption at rest, breach notification within 72 hours
  • Named DPO, a DPA available on request and a published list of subprocessors
  • Customer outcomes are published with named sources, including a 22% renewal rate increase at Bazaarvoice and 190 analyst hours saved weekly at Glassdoor
  • Non-technical users report adopting it with minimal training, and one built a 50-slide data-heavy deck unaided

Cons

  • No published pricing whatsoever, and the Pricing link in the navigation has pointed to a 404 page since at least February 2024
  • No working contact page: /contact, /contact-us and /contact-sales all return 404 and the Contact Sales button links to nothing
  • The privacy policy dates from March 2023 and is silent on generative AI and model training, although AI is now the product's main argument
  • No public API documentation, and the Zendesk help centre is unreachable without an account
  • Nineteen connectors are advertised as Coming Soon with no committed date, alongside the nineteen that actually work
  • Default one-year term with automatic renewal, 30 days' notice to cancel and no pro rata refund
  • Visible neglect on the marketing site: a 404 sitemap declared in robots.txt, a footer Security link pointing to /mail, and unreplaced Lorem Ipsum labels in every navigation menu
Pricing

Pricing & Plans

Matik publishes no prices. There is no permanent free plan and no advertised free trial: the only route to the product is a demo request followed by a negotiated Order Form, which sets out which services are included and what they cost. The Terms of Use confirm that some services are offered without charge while others require a subscription fee, but leave the split to that Order Form. The default term is one year with automatic renewal, cancellation requires 30 days' notice, and no pro rata refund is issued unless Matik itself fails to remedy a material breach. The only element publicly described as free is the Smart Data Sync Chrome extension, still in beta. The Pricing link in the site navigation leads to a page that has returned a 404 error since at least February 2024, so no figure can be verified before speaking to sales.

Special offers — Charity promotion running at the time of review: book a demo of Matik in August and Matik donates USD 10 to charity. The offer carries an asterisk whose conditions are published nowhere, and it is time-limited · The Smart Data Sync Chrome extension is advertised as free, in beta · No student, non-profit or unemployed discount is published, and there is no affiliate or referral program
Prices and plans listed above may evolve. Always check the official pricing page before subscribing.
Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Matik handles your data.

GDPR overview

Matik makes concrete GDPR commitments. Its security page claims compliance with the EU regulation, and the privacy policy names a Data Protection Officer, Zachary Stein, reachable at zak@matik.io or by post in San Francisco. A Data Processing Agreement is adopted and supplied separately on request. Subprocessors are listed by name. Breaches are notified to affected customers within 72 hours. Rights to access, rectify, erase, object, restrict, port and withdraw consent are enumerated, UK GDPR is covered explicitly, and European residents can ask for confirmation that their data is held in the United States. Two gaps remain: no Article 27 EU representative is designated anywhere, and the privacy policy, unchanged since 13 March 2023, says nothing about generative AI or model training.

Who owns the data?

Customers keep ownership of the content and data they upload. Under the Terms of Use they grant Matik a non-exclusive, transferable, royalty-free worldwide licence, limited to the contract term and to the sole purpose of delivering the service. Matik retains ownership of the Services themselves, of the underlying data, and of de-identified and usage data it collects. User Content is treated as the customer's confidential information; the Services and underlying data are Matik's. Feedback is the exception: any suggestion sent to Matik is assigned under a perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable licence. Matik states it does not store the content of connected data sources, only the encrypted credentials needed to query them.

Reuse rights

Customers may use the content Matik generates freely within their own internal business use; the licence granted back to Matik is narrow and expires with the contract, so no separate permission is needed to circulate a generated deck to a colleague, a prospect or a customer. Two restrictions bite in the other direction. The Terms forbid downloading portions of the website, using data mining or scraping tools inside the Services, reselling or sublicensing access, and using the Services to benchmark or build a competing product. Matik's own trademarks, logos and proprietary graphics may not be reused without written permission. On its side, Matik processes personal data on consent, legitimate interests, contract performance and legal obligations, shares it with a published list of subprocessors, and may transfer it in a merger, financing or acquisition. Nothing in the published documents states whether customer data feeds AI model training.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Matik keeps data only as long as the purposes in its privacy policy require, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law, and sets an explicit ceiling: no purpose requires keeping data more than six months after an account is terminated. Once there is no ongoing legitimate need, data is deleted or anonymized; where deletion is impossible because the data sits in backup archives, it is stored securely and isolated from further processing until it can be removed. On a closure request the account and its data are deactivated or deleted from active databases, though some data may be kept to prevent fraud, troubleshoot, assist investigations, enforce the Terms or meet legal obligations. Database backup snapshots are retained for 30 days each.

Hosting summary

Matik runs on Amazon Web Services. User profiles, data credentials and content generated from customer data are stored in Amazon S3 and Amazon RDS, both encrypted at rest with AES-256 and placed behind strict access controls. Amazon WAF protects the application servers, CloudTrail records key events such as logins and changes to security lists, and CloudWatch feeds an alerting system. Matik does not store the content of connected data sources, only the encrypted credentials needed to query them. Backups consist of a full daily database snapshot plus transaction logs, allowing restoration to any past point; each snapshot is kept for 30 days, encrypted, not publicly accessible and logged on access. Jurisdiction is the State of California, and the services are operated from Matik's Californian offices. The privacy policy confirms that personal data belonging to European residents is held in the United States. No specific AWS region is named, and no EU data residency option is offered.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Matik.

  • You cannot size a budget before the sales call: the Pricing link has been broken since at least February 2024 and no figure appears anywhere on the site
  • The default contract runs a year and renews automatically; cancellation requires 30 days' notice and no pro rata refund is issued
  • The privacy policy has not moved since March 2023 and says nothing about generative AI or whether customer data feeds model training, so nothing forbids it in writing either
  • No Article 27 EU representative is designated, although the site addresses European customers and the data is held in the United States
  • Nineteen connectors are shown as Coming Soon with no date: check that yours is actually live before signing
  • Automating customer-facing narratives at scale can dull the judgement it replaces, since a deck that generates itself is also a deck nobody rereads before sending
  • AI-derived insights and executive summaries are produced from your data but written by a model: they carry the tone of certainty without the accountability, and still need a human to check them
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Moderate, and lighter than the category average. Matik queries data rather than ingesting it, so nothing has to be restructured: connect a source once and reuse it across every template. Setup runs in three steps, connecting sources and templates, defining the metrics to pull, then tagging static elements. Matik advertises weeks from setup to scale, and Zapier reports twelve days. The real prerequisite is organizational rather than technical: an existing CRM, BI tool or warehouse, and the rights to connect it. End users report minimal training, and non-technical staff have built data-heavy decks unaided.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does Matik actually do?
It automates presentations, documents, spreadsheets, PDFs and emails from a company's own data, and uses AI to write the insights, executive summaries and talk tracks that go with the figures.
Does Matik copy my data?
No. Matik queries connected sources instead of ingesting them. It stores only the minimum credentials needed to run those queries, encrypted and not viewable by Matik employees or by customers once saved.
Which data sources can I connect?
CRMs such as Salesforce, HubSpot and Gainsight; BI tools including Tableau, Looker and Power BI; warehouses from Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, Presto, Athena, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Azure; Google Sheets and Excel; Productboard; and anything else through a REST API.
What formats does Matik produce?
Google Slides, Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, PDF, and content delivered as an email body or an email attachment.
How much does Matik cost?
No price is published. Everything goes through a demo request and a negotiated Order Form, on a one-year term by default. The Pricing link in the site navigation has been broken since at least February 2024.
Is there a free trial or a free plan?
Neither is offered on the site. The Terms of Use mention that trials or beta access may be granted from time to time at Matik's sole discretion, without warranty. The Smart Data Sync Chrome extension is described as free and is in beta.
Is Matik certified?
Matik states it has obtained both SOC 2 Type I and Type II certification and claims compliance with the GDPR. The SOC 2 report itself is not published; the homepage badge links to the AICPA website rather than to a report.
Is my data used to train AI models?
Nothing is published on this point. Neither the privacy policy of 13 March 2023, nor the Terms of Use of 26 June 2025, nor the security page mentions model training or an opt-out.
How long is my data kept?
No purpose in the privacy policy requires keeping data longer than six months after the account is terminated. Database backups are retained for 30 days per snapshot.
Is there a mobile app, and what is the minimum age?
There is no iOS or Android application; Matik runs in the browser, with a Chrome extension in beta. The minimum age to use the service is 18.
Conclusion

Should you pick Matik?

Matik is a mature, narrowly focused product, and its focus is its main strength. It is neither a general-purpose language model nor a tool for making slides look good: it is a generation engine wired into a company's own data, which fills existing templates, applies conditional logic and lets the AI write the commentary around the figures. The published case studies carry named companies and specific numbers, and the security posture is above average for the category, with SOC 2 Type I and Type II obtained, a named data protection officer, a DPA available on request and subprocessors listed by name. The decision to query data instead of ingesting it is a genuine argument, both for implementation speed and for risk exposure.

The reservations are real. Pricing is entirely opaque, and the Pricing link in the navigation has led to a 404 page since at least February 2024, which means no budget can be sized before a sales conversation. The default one-year commitment with no pro rata refund raises the stakes of that conversation. The legal documentation lags the product: a privacy policy unchanged since March 2023 says nothing about generative AI or model training, at a time when AI has become the pitch. And the marketing site itself shows neglect, from a 404 sitemap to unreplaced template placeholder text in every menu.

The verdict is favourable for organizations that already have a data warehouse or BI tool in place, a recurring volume of customer-facing content to produce, and the patience for an enterprise sales cycle. Anyone hoping to try it quickly, or to know the price before booking a call, should look elsewhere.
