Overview

What is Morgen?

Morgen is a daily planner from Zurich-based Morgen AG that pulls calendars, tasks and meeting booking into a single application. Its premise is stated plainly on the homepage: daily plans designed by AI, perfected by you. The AI Planner reads your workload and proposes a time-blocked schedule, but it never writes to your calendar without confirmation. Prioritisation runs on what Morgen calls the Priority Factor, weighing importance, due date, estimated duration, your available capacity and how recently a task appeared. You can steer the outcome with Frames, recurring templates that describe your ideal week, each filtered to a category of work such as deep work, quick wins, personal errands or learning. Realism options round estimates up by 20%, split long tasks into several sessions and insert breaks according to a chosen intensity. The tool does not replace your calendar, it consolidates the ones you already use: Google, Outlook and Microsoft 365, iCloud, Fastmail and almost any CalDAV provider. Tasks arrive from Notion, Todoist, ClickUp, Linear, Obsidian, Apple Reminders, Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do and flagged Outlook emails, and Morgen adds a task manager of its own with lists, subtasks, due dates and duration estimates. Around the planner sit scheduling and automation features that would otherwise need separate products: a customisable booking page, scheduling links and open invites that check real-time availability, team availability views, calendar propagation between providers, plus automatic travel and buffer time. An experimental, opt-in AI Chat can drive the app in natural language, including bulk edits. Morgen ships natively on Windows, macOS, Linux, the browser, iOS and Android, Linux support being unusual in this category. The product grew out of MineTime, an early AI calendar prototype built for Linux users, and out of CTO Marco Ancona's doctoral research at ETH Zurich. The company leans hard on its Swiss origins: data is stored in Switzerland or the European Union, a data processing agreement is published, subprocessors are listed by name, and the site states that user data is never sold. Morgen claims more than 248,000 professionals, a 4.8 out of 5 Product Hunt rating and customers including Linear, Canva, Spotify and DHL.

When to use Morgen / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Morgen is the right fit.

When to use Morgen

  • Knowledge workers juggling several calendars, work, personal and client accounts alike, who want one view instead of four tabs
  • Time-blocking practitioners who want AI suggestions but insist on approving the plan themselves
  • Linux users, who get a native desktop app that most competitors in this category do not ship
  • Small teams that need colleague availability, recommended meeting slots and shared scheduling from two seats upwards
  • Privacy-conscious professionals and their IT departments, thanks to Swiss and EU hosting, a public DPA and a named subprocessor list

When not to use Morgen

  • Anyone without an external calendar account: Morgen has no native calendar and requires you to connect one
  • Users looking for a permanently free tool, since a subscription is required once the 14-day trial ends
  • Teams that need a contractual uptime guarantee, as the terms state no service-level agreement is offered
  • Developers needing a broad API today: the REST API is early-stage, gated by early access and limited to calendar data
  • People wanting a fully autonomous assistant that rearranges the diary unattended, since Morgen deliberately waits for approval

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Morgen handles your data.

GDPR overview

GDPR compliance is claimed explicitly: Morgen states that it complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation and with Swiss data protection law. The commitments are concrete rather than decorative. A data processing agreement is published, last modified 19 September 2025, naming Morgen AG as processor. The privacy policy, updated 20 April 2026, lists subprocessors by name, among them Google, Amplitude, Twilio, MongoDB, Typeform, Paddle, Intercom, Sentry, Temporal, OpenAI and Anthropic. Customers receive 15 days' notice before a subprocessor is added or replaced, with a right to object. Transfers stay within Switzerland, the EU or adequacy-decision countries, and otherwise rely on standard contractual clauses. Annex A details Article 32 security measures, and breaches are notified under Article 33. One gap stands out: no Article 27 EU representative is named, although the company is established outside the EU.

Who owns the data?

Morgen AG, Förrlibuckstrasse 223, 8005 Zurich, Switzerland, company number CHE-216.439.443, is the data controller for the service and acts as a processor for business customers under its published data processing agreement. Your content remains yours, but the split matters: calendar events and third-party tasks are synchronised locally and are not stored on Morgen's servers, whereas tasks you create inside Morgen live in its cloud. Account credentials are held encrypted. One clause deserves attention: under the terms, any feedback, feature request or suggestion you send is assigned in full to Morgen AG, which may then develop, commercialise or patent it while claiming exclusive ownership.

Reuse rights

Morgen states that it does not sell user information and does not share it with third parties beyond the service providers named in its privacy policy. Data is used to run and improve the service, to communicate with users and to prevent abuse. You may export your content, but you must request it before deleting the account, because the data processing agreement says requests made afterwards can no longer be considered. Content synchronised with third-party services stays available through those services. The generative AI Chat is optional and requires explicit opt-in: if you do not opt in, no AI Chat data is collected at all. Machine learning models are trained on aggregated, pseudonymised or anonymised data, and the third-party AI providers involved are contractually barred from using Morgen data to train their general-purpose models.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Access to your content stops immediately when you cancel, and Morgen reserves the right to delete it permanently from its systems 60 days later. If you want an export you must ask before the account is deleted, because the data processing agreement states that requests made afterwards can no longer be considered. Calendar events and third-party tasks are never retained: they are queried and deleted as soon as the operation finishes. Usage data sent to the analytics provider is kept until the account is deleted. Anything synchronised back to a third-party service, such as events written to your Google or Outlook calendar, stays with that provider and is unaffected by deleting your Morgen account. Where data serves service improvement or machine learning, Morgen says it is pseudonymised or anonymised.

Hosting summary

Morgen states that all data is stored in Switzerland or in the European Union. Backend services run on Google Cloud Platform with MongoDB Atlas as the managed database, both hosted in Switzerland and the EU; personal data is encrypted at rest and backups are handled by Google Firestore and MongoDB Atlas. The jurisdiction is Swiss: Morgen AG is based in Zurich, the data processing agreement is governed by Swiss law and disputes fall to the courts of Zurich. Calendar events are not persisted at all, since Morgen's servers act as a proxy that transmits data to your devices without storing it, whereas tasks created inside Morgen do live in its cloud. Several subprocessors are established in the United States, including Amplitude, Twilio, Intercom, Sentry, Temporal, Typeform and Paddle. Transfers outside Switzerland, the EU or an adequacy-decision country rely on Swiss, EU or UK standard contractual clauses. Note that the domain resolves to a Cloudflare anycast address geolocated in the United States, which reflects the content delivery edge and not where data is stored.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Morgen.

  • The experimental AI Chat can execute bulk edits and deletions without asking again, and the terms themselves advise against using it for sensitive or irreversible operations
  • Handing scheduling judgement to an algorithm can erode your own sense of how long work takes: the padding and task-splitting options exist precisely because that instinct is unreliable
  • Under the terms, feedback and feature suggestions you send become the property of Morgen AG, which may commercialise or patent them and claim exclusive ownership
  • Content is permanently deleted 60 days after cancellation, and an export must be requested before the account is deleted, since afterwards it can no longer be honoured
  • No service-level agreement is offered and the service is provided as is and as available, so a calendar outage carries no contractual remedy
  • Although hosting is Swiss or EU, several subprocessors are established in the United States, which may matter under a strict internal data policy
  • A planner that fills every gap can turn a calendar into a source of pressure rather than clarity, because the tool schedules capacity and not rest
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Low for most users. You sign up by email, start a 14-day trial without a card, and connect a calendar through OAuth for Google, Outlook or Fastmail, or through CalDAV for other providers. The one hard requirement is that Morgen has no calendar of its own, so an external account is mandatory. Mobile users must configure the account on a computer first. Two integrations are local rather than cloud-based: Obsidian needs the Morgen Tasks plugin, and Apple Reminders works only on macOS. Workflows are configured without code, and the desktop app ships with a built-in learning hub.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free version of Morgen?
There is no permanently free plan. Signing up starts a 14-day trial with full access to Pro features and no credit card required, and once it ends you need a subscription to keep using the account. A 30-day money-back guarantee applies to paid plans.
Do I need an existing calendar to use Morgen?
Yes. Morgen has no native calendar, so you must connect at least one external account. It works with Google, Outlook and Microsoft 365, iCloud, Fastmail and nearly any CalDAV provider including Yahoo!, Zoho, Nextcloud and fruux, and the number of connected calendars is unlimited.
Will the AI Planner change my calendar on its own?
No. The AI Planner only makes recommendations, such as which tasks to block today, when to reschedule an unfinished one or how to resolve a conflict, and you are always prompted to confirm. You can also adjust the proposal manually before saving it.
How much does Morgen cost?
Individual plans are USD 30 per month billed monthly or USD 15 per month billed annually. Team plans are USD 25 per seat per month billed monthly or USD 10 per seat per month billed annually, with a minimum of two seats. Prices exclude tax.
Which platforms does Morgen support?
Native apps are available for Windows, macOS and Linux, plus iOS and Android and a browser version. Linux builds are distributed through the Snap Store and as .deb, .rpm and AppImage packages. Mobile requires configuring the account on a computer first.
Which task and meeting tools does Morgen integrate with?
Notion, Todoist, ClickUp, Linear, Obsidian, Apple Reminders, Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do and flagged Outlook emails. Zapier covers others such as TickTick, Things and Evernote. Conferencing links can be generated for Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Webex.
Where is my data stored, and is Morgen GDPR compliant?
Morgen states that it complies with the GDPR and Swiss data protection law, and that all data is stored in Switzerland or the European Union. A data processing agreement is published and subprocessors are named. Calendar events themselves are not stored on Morgen's servers.
Does Morgen offer an API?
Yes, a REST API, with the key available from the developer page on the Morgen platform. It is early-stage: only calendar operations are currently exposed, and full documentation follows a request for early access.
Conclusion

Should you pick Morgen?

Morgen occupies a specific position in a crowded market: it is an AI planner that refuses to act on its own. Where competitors advertise automatic rescheduling, Morgen shows a proposal and waits. Every block is confirmed by the user, and Frames let you constrain what the algorithm may suggest in the first place. If autonomy is what you want from AI, that will read as friction. If you have ever had software silently move a meeting, it will read as the point. Three things genuinely set it apart. It ships a native Linux app when most rivals stop at Windows and macOS. It hosts data in Switzerland or the EU, publishes a data processing agreement, names its subprocessors and states plainly that it never sells user data. And it bundles booking links and team availability, so a separate scheduling subscription becomes unnecessary. The reservations are equally clear. Morgen has no calendar of its own, so it is a layer over Google, Outlook, iCloud or CalDAV rather than a replacement. There is no permanent free plan: after the 14-day trial, USD 15 per month billed annually is the entry price, and monthly billing doubles that. The REST API is early-stage and covers calendar data only. The AI Chat is explicitly experimental, and the terms warn against trusting it with irreversible operations. No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification is claimed, and no service-level agreement is offered. The natural fit is a knowledge worker running several calendars who already time blocks and wants help doing it faster without surrendering control: engineers, founders, consultants, academics and executive assistants among them. Students, academics and non-profits get 25% off, and a 30-day money-back guarantee limits the downside of finding out.
