Design.com
Design.com is an AI design platform from Australian company DesignCrowd. It generates logos from a business name, then extends them into business cards, social posts, print collateral and hosted websites, all edited through natural-language prompts.
What is Design.com?
Design.com is an AI design platform operated by DesignCrowd Pty Ltd, an Australian company based in Surry Hills, Sydney, which also runs the DesignCrowd custom design marketplace and the BrandCrowd brand. The three sites share one account system and one privacy policy. The platform presents itself as the world's leading AI design platform, and its entry point is deliberately narrow: you type a business name, and the AI returns thousands of logo concepts matched to your industry within seconds.
Behind that prompt sits a library of more than 439,000 logos drawn by professional designers and exclusive to the platform. Design.com states that it uses no third-party stock icons or generic clipart, and that every logo passes a manual intellectual property review for originality. Refinement happens first through keywords, then through a natural-language chat: you ask for different fonts, colours, shapes or layouts instead of learning a toolbar. Advanced touches include curved text, custom gradients, exclusive fonts and a library of over 62,000 vector shapes.
The product no longer stops at the logo. Around it sits a brand studio of more than fifty design tools and over 643,000 templates covering business cards, letterheads, email signatures, invoices, menus, posters, flyers, presentations, QR codes, t-shirts and roughly thirty social media formats for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube. Eleven tools are explicitly AI-driven, among them a business name generator, a domain name generator, a background remover and an image generator.
A website builder completes the chain. It generates a complete site from a business name or a prompt, draws on more than 3,000 templates, includes hosting, supports a custom domain or a free branded URL, and adds contact forms, mailing-list capture and online payments. A one-page variant serves link-in-bio pages.
Commercially, creating and editing are open to anyone; downloading is what requires a subscription. The interface is offered in English, French, Spanish, German and Portuguese. Design.com is web-only: there is no mobile application and no public API.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Design.com handles your data.
GDPR overview
The privacy policy, last updated on 11 September 2025, states that DesignCrowd adheres to the GDPR and the CCPA alongside its Australian obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, and it reproduces the GDPR definition of personal data. Access and rectification requests are handled within 30 days, and complaints sent to dataprotection@design.com receive a reply within the same period, with escalation available to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Erasure is granted on a reasonable-endeavours basis and may be refused where legal or tax retention applies. Beyond that the implementation is thin: no Article 27 EU representative is named, no data processing agreement is offered, and no subprocessor list is published. Transfers outside Australia are acknowledged, notably to the US subsidiary DesignCrowd LLC.
Who owns the data?
The controller is DesignCrowd Pty Ltd (ACN 127 272 315), the Australian company that also trades as BrandCrowd and as Design.com under a single privacy policy. It is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, and states that it adheres to the GDPR and the CCPA as well. Personal data may be passed to service providers handling storage, payments, email and SMS delivery, IP lookup, data enrichment and CRM, to third-party designers working on your brief, and to the US subsidiary DesignCrowd LLC. The company states that it neither sells nor rents personal information. Designs you have purchased remain licensed to you after cancellation.
Reuse rights
Every purchased logo carries a licence for worldwide commercial use, and the files remain usable once the subscription ends. Four licence types apply. A Free licence and a Standard licence both grant non-exclusive rights, so other customers can buy and use the same design. An Exclusive licence transfers the full intellectual property and removes the design from the store immediately. A Buy Out licence also withdraws it, although anyone who bought it earlier keeps their rights. Individual works remain copyright of their respective designers and contributors. Reuse therefore needs no further permission within the licence purchased, but exclusivity is only guaranteed by the two extended licences.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
DesignCrowd stores personal information on servers located in several countries, with the United States and Australia named explicitly in the privacy policy. The technology stack runs on Amazon Web Services, and the company states that its databases are reachable only from specific IP addresses, locations and servers, with parts of the SANS security guidelines applied to the database servers. Traffic is encrypted over SSL with 128-bit encryption under a DigiCert certificate. Card payments are outsourced to PCI-compliant gateways including PayPal, Stripe, Skrill (Paysafe) and Payoneer; only the last four digits and the expiry date are retained. The governing jurisdiction is New South Wales, Australia, and the company operates under the Privacy Act 1988. Data may be disclosed outside Australia, in particular to the wholly owned US subsidiary DesignCrowd LLC. No regional hosting choice is offered to customers, and no EU-only option exists.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Design.com.
- Prices are shown as typical in a help-centre answer and never on a pricing page, so confirm the real amount at checkout
- The standard licence is non-exclusive: another business can legitimately buy and use the same logo
- Refunds stop as soon as the files have been delivered, which is usually within 24 to 48 hours
- The subscription renews until it is explicitly cancelled, and it covers only the single logo purchased
- Nothing is published about whether customer designs or prompts are used to train the AI models
- No DPA and no subprocessor list are available, which can block procurement in a regulated organisation
- Creating an account here can automatically open accounts on the affiliated DesignCrowd and BrandCrowd sites
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low. Nothing is installed: the service runs in a browser and sign-in works with an email address, Google or Facebook. Everything starts from a single field, a business name, and editing happens through plain-language prompts rather than a toolbar, so neither coding nor design skills are required. Publishing a website takes one click and hosting is included, with no external provider to configure. The only technical step is pointing an existing third-party domain at the site. Expect 24 to 48 hours for the final logo files, prepared by hand and emailed.

Should you pick Design.com?
Design.com is best understood as a branding shortcut rather than a design tool. It is aimed at the moment a business is created, when a logo, a set of cards and a simple website are all needed at once and none of them justifies an agency. On that ground it delivers: the logo library is unusually deep, every design is exclusive to the platform and passes a manual intellectual property review, vector files are included, and the same brand carries straight through to social formats, print items and a hosted site. Editing by conversation rather than by toolbar genuinely removes the barrier for people who have never opened design software.
The reservations are structural rather than incidental. One subscription buys one logo, and the standard licence is non-exclusive, so a competitor can legitimately end up with the same mark unless an extended licence is purchased. Pricing is the weakest point: there is no pricing page at all, the figures live in a help-centre answer, they are described as typical, and two of the three packages are quoted at the same amount. Printing, domains and design help are charged separately, and refunds stop as soon as files are delivered.
On governance, the operator is transparent about who it is — an established Sydney company with a published address and a decade and a half of trading behind three brands — but the paperwork stops short of what a business buyer may need: no data processing agreement, no subprocessor list, and no statement about whether customer content is used to train the models. For a sole trader or a young company, that is usually acceptable. For anyone under contractual obligations, it is the point to check first.
