Greetings Island
Greetings Island is a free online maker for invitations, greeting cards and ecards. AI generates editable designs and wording from a plain description, while a built-in RSVP system tracks guest replies across web, iOS and Android.
What is Greetings Island?
Greetings Island is a web and mobile platform for creating invitations, greeting cards, ecards, announcements, posters, menus, programmes and certificates. It is published by Clear Coast Ltd., a company incorporated under the laws of Israel, and claims more than fourteen years of operation, 41,000 designs and 4.5 million monthly active users.
Three AI features sit inside an otherwise conventional design editor. Magic Invite builds an invitation from a plain-language description of the event. Magic Card goes further and produces both the artwork and the written message for a folded card. Magic Photo takes a photo you upload and blends it into a themed illustration - a princess party, a superhero invite, an elegant wedding. A separate wishes generator writes card messages across eighteen occasions and six tones, with controls for length, emojis, rhyme, even turning the message into a song; the site describes it as entirely free and requiring no sign-up.
The claimed differentiator is what happens after generation. Where a general-purpose model returns a flat image, Greetings Island hands back an editable design: fonts, colours, stickers, photos, monograms and layout all stay adjustable in the editor, and the result can be printed or sent from the same place.
Around the design tools sits event management. The RSVP system lets a host set deadlines and guest limits, ask custom questions such as meal choices, attach a venue map and gift registries, send automatic reminders, message guests, watch replies arrive in real time and export the guest list to Excel. Guests reply from a browser, with no account and no app. Group cards work on the same principle: one signing link, unlimited contributors, messages with GIFs and photos, then delivery by email, link or PDF, optionally scheduled to land on the day.
Output covers high-resolution images, PDFs and animated GIFs, home printing, ordered prints with free shipping, or an ecard shared by link, QR code, email, text or social media. The interface is offered in 24 languages, in three sizes: 5x7, 7x5 and 5x5 inches.

When to use Greetings Island / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Greetings Island is the right fit.
When to use Greetings Island
- Anyone planning a personal celebration - a wedding, birthday, baby shower, christening or housewarming - who wants a polished invitation without hiring a designer
- HR teams and office managers handling workplace moments: work anniversaries, welcomes, promotions, farewells and cards signed by a whole department
- Teachers, schools and community groups that need certificates, graduation announcements and event invitations on no budget
- Faith communities organising baptisms, communions, bar and bat mitzvahs, Diwali, Rosh Hashanah or Hanukkah gatherings
- Small businesses and independents inviting guests to galas, grand openings and open houses, or printing event posters and menus
When not to use Greetings Island
- Developers who need to produce cards or invitations programmatically: there is no public API and no developer documentation
- Organisations that require a signed Data Processing Agreement or a named subprocessor list before approving a vendor
- Teams wanting seat-based licensing, shared workspaces or an enterprise tier - Premium is a single-user subscription
- Designers who need sizes beyond 5x7, 7x5 and 5x5 inches, or one-off watermark removal on folded cards, which is not offered
- Buyers who insist on seeing a published price list before committing: the live site shows no rates at all
How to use Greetings Island
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Open the site or the mobile app - most features need no account and no credit card
- Pick a path: browse the template catalogue, or start from one of the AI generators
- For an AI invitation or card, describe the event or the recipient in plain language, including date, time, place and any instructions for guests
- Name the elements you want on the design - title, host names, RSVP details, extra notes - and describe the layout and visuals you have in mind
- Choose a style and colour palette in the Magic window so the AI matches your taste from the start
- Alternatively pick a Magic Photo design and upload your own photo to be blended into the artwork
- Refine the result in the editor: text, fonts, colours, stickers, images, monograms and effects
- Add an online RSVP page if you need one, then set deadlines, guest limits and custom questions
- Share by link, QR code, email, text or social media, or send it as an ecard
- Or download a high-resolution image, PDF or animated GIF, print at home, or order printed copies
Pros & Cons
Pros
- The free tier is genuinely usable and most features need no account at all
- AI returns an editable design rather than a flat image, so the output can still be corrected, personalised and printed
- A complete RSVP system with unlimited guests is included at no cost on free designs, and guests install nothing
- Very low paid entry point: USD 26.99 per year, or single designs bought outright from USD 3.99
- Explicit commitment that customer photos and event details are never used to train AI models
- An Article 27 GDPR representative is designated and reachable - unusual at this price
- Broad reach: 24 interface languages, a catalogue spanning personal, workplace, school and religious occasions, and consistently high public ratings
Cons
- No pricing page at all: the live site publishes no rates, and the help centre that holds them is closed to automated access
- No postal address is published anywhere on the site
- No API, so nothing can be generated or integrated programmatically
- No Data Processing Agreement and no named list of subprocessors
- The publisher declares selling or sharing activity, geolocation and commercial data with advertising partners; opting out is left to the user
- Subscriptions auto-renew by default and fees are non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise
- Israeli governing law and exclusive jurisdiction of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa courts, with no enterprise tier or multi-user management
Pricing & Plans
A permanent free plan is available and covers the free design catalogue, the editor, the RSVP system, group cards and the wishes generator; neither an account nor a credit card is required to begin. The lowest paid entry point is the Premium subscription at USD 3.49 per month, or USD 26.99 per year when paid in full, equivalent to USD 2.25 per month. Taxes are stated to be included. A single premium design may also be purchased outright, from USD 3.99 for a card to USD 7.99 for an invitation. These amounts are drawn from the publisher's help centre as archived in October 2025 and are not published on the live site, so they should be confirmed before any purchase.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Greetings Island handles your data.
GDPR overview
Concrete, and better documented than most tools at this price. The privacy policy, last updated on 25 September 2025, names the EU and UK GDPR alongside the CCPA, VCDPA, CPA and CTDPA, and the RSVP page states plainly that the service is GDPR compliant. An Article 27 representative is designated: Prighter Group, reachable at https://prighter.com/q/14157699. Transfers from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland to Israel rely on the adequacy decisions those authorities have granted Israel; transfers elsewhere use Standard Contractual Clauses, available on request. Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability requests go to privacy@greetingsisland.com, with a right to complain to a supervisory authority. Two gaps remain: no Data Processing Agreement is offered, and no named subprocessor list is published.
Who owns the data?
Under the terms of service the customer keeps ownership of everything they upload - text, photos, images, videos and event details, together called the Customer Content. In exchange the customer grants Clear Coast Ltd. and its subprocessors a broad licence: irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free and sublicensable, but limited to operating and maintaining the platform. Greetings Island is the data controller for its own users' data and only the data processor for guest data, where the host remains controller. Feedback and suggestions become the publisher's property outright. After termination the publisher may delete Customer Content without keeping a copy, so exporting in advance is the customer's responsibility.
Reuse rights
Customers may reuse their own designs and content freely, without asking permission. The licence runs the other way for the publisher: Clear Coast Ltd. and its subprocessors may access, copy, store, distribute and display Customer Content solely to run the platform and to resolve technical or security problems. Reuse of the platform's own material is tightly bounded - the terms forbid reselling, sublicensing, redistributing or transferring any work created through the service, and forbid using it to build a competing product. Personal data feeds service delivery, analytics, marketing and fraud prevention. Both AI pages state that customer photos and event details are never used to train AI models, though the privacy policy itself says nothing about training and lists generative AI imaging services among its subprocessors. Separately, the publisher declares that it has sold or shared network activity, geolocation and commercial information with advertising partners; users can opt out through the cookie banner, the Your Privacy Choices control, or a Global Privacy Control signal.

Hosting summary
The privacy policy states that Greetings Island and its authorised service providers maintain, store and process personal data in the United States, Israel, and other locations as reasonably necessary to deliver the service. The company is headquartered in Israel, a jurisdiction the European Commission, the UK Information Commissioner's Office and the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner all treat as offering adequate protection; transfers from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland to Israel rest on that basis. Where data moves to a country without an adequacy finding, Standard Contractual Clauses are used and a copy can be requested from privacy@greetingsisland.com. Customers cannot choose a hosting region and no data residency guarantee is offered. SSL encryption is advertised on the RSVP page. Note that the domain's public IP address resolves to a Cloudflare anycast node, which reflects the CDN edge rather than where the data actually sits.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Greetings Island.
- No price is published on the site itself; the figures in circulation come from an archived help centre page and may have moved since
- Premium renews automatically by default and fees are non-refundable unless the law says otherwise - diarise the renewal date
- The publisher declares selling or sharing network activity, geolocation and commercial data with advertising partners; the opt-out exists but you have to go and set it
- Your guests' names and email addresses are your responsibility, not the publisher's: as the host you are the data controller and must have grounds to upload them
- Nothing binds the company to a published address; the only verifiable anchor is Israeli incorporation and the Tel Aviv-Jaffa courts
- Content can be deleted without a retained copy once an account ends, so export anything you want to keep before you stop paying or close the account
- Leaning on AI wording for condolences, thanks or apologies can flatten exactly the moments that call for your own words - read what it wrote before you send it
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low. Everything runs in the browser with nothing to install, and most free features work without an account - only the organiser of a group card needs one. The RSVP page advertises setup in two minutes with no credit card required. Guests create nothing and install nothing. No technical skill is involved: the editor is visual and the AI takes plain-language prompts. iOS and Android apps are available for working on the move, with saved drafts carrying work between web and phone.

Should you pick Greetings Island?
Greetings Island is a mature consumer product that has added AI rather than been built on it, and it is better for that. The generators are fast and the wording tools are genuinely useful, but the real asset is the editor waiting behind them: whatever the model produces stays adjustable, printable and sendable, which is precisely what a flat image from a general-purpose chatbot is not. Around that sits an RSVP system substantial enough to stand on its own - deadlines, custom questions, registries, reminders, real-time tracking, Excel export - and offered free on free designs, with guests never asked to install or register.
The value is unusual. A permanent free tier covers most needs, and Premium costs USD 26.99 a year. Buyers who dislike subscriptions can pay once for a single design instead. Trust signals are decent too: an explicit promise not to train AI on customer content, a designated Article 27 GDPR representative, and consistently high public ratings.
The reservations are real and worth weighing. No price appears anywhere on the live site, which is an odd thing to hide and means the figures above need confirming. No postal address is published. There is no DPA, no subprocessor list and no API, so organisations with procurement requirements or integration plans should look elsewhere. And the publisher openly declares sharing activity and geolocation data with advertising partners - lawful, disclosed, and opt-out, but the opt-out is yours to find.
For personal celebrations, classrooms, parishes, small teams and anyone sending invitations occasionally, it is an easy recommendation. For a company buying software, the paperwork is missing.
