Overview

What is Accesstive?

Accesstive describes itself as an accessibility compliance management platform: a single place to find accessibility problems on a website, fix them, and prove the work was done. The product is organised around three movements the vendor calls FIND, FIX and PROVE.

FIND covers three tools. The Accessibility Checker scans a whole domain against WCAG criteria and runs without an account. Live Audit inspects a single page as visitors actually load it, showing where each issue sits, which user groups it affects and what the fix code looks like. Monitor crawls the site continuously, ranks issues by severity and raises alerts when a deployment introduces a regression.

FIX brings together the visitor-facing AI Toolkit, a widget offering more than thirty display, reading and navigation controls; the Fix Hub, where issues are assigned to team members, resolved with AI-generated code guidance and verified before closing; and Human Expert, an on-demand service where certified specialists review or repair directly in the codebase.

PROVE produces the paperwork: audit reports mapped to WCAG criteria, timestamped remediation records, accessibility statements, procurement-ready VPAT exports and documentation for legal review. VPAT Export and Litigation Support are both marked beta.

Nine capabilities sit under one subscription, with no pageview-based pricing and no usage caps. Installation is a single line of JavaScript, with dedicated extensions for WordPress, TYPO3, Joomla, Shopware, Strapi, Storyblok, Contentful, Divi, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and Dreamweaver; the script is advertised at under 50 KB gzipped. The standards in scope are WCAG, the ADA, Section 508, EN 301 549, the European Accessibility Act and the German BITV.

The company's argument is explicitly against automation-only accessibility: it refuses to promise full compliance from a script and pairs machine detection with human review. Accesstive is based in Dresden, hosts all data in Germany with ALL-INKL.COM, and traces its origin to 2021, with Access Assistant launched in 2022, AI auditing in 2023 and Monitor in 2024. It claims a team of more than forty people and users across more than forty countries.

What it does

  • Scan an entire website against WCAG criteria, with a free scan that needs no account.
  • Audit a single live page in real time, showing the failing element, the affected user groups and the fix.
  • Monitor the site continuously and raise alerts when new accessibility issues or regressions appear.
  • Generate code-level fix instructions with AI, ready for a developer to apply.
  • Track remediation in the Fix Hub, with assignments, severity ranking and verification before closure.
  • Call in certified human experts on demand for the issues automation cannot judge.
  • Produce audit reports, accessibility statements, VPAT/ACR documents and litigation-ready records.

When to use Accesstive / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Accesstive is the right fit.

When to use Accesstive

  • Compliance and legal teams that must evidence a continuous accessibility effort under the ADA, the EAA or Section 508, not just produce a one-off scan.
  • Web and front-end developers who want code-level fix guidance tied to the exact failing element, plus component fixes that propagate across every page.
  • Digital agencies managing several client sites, through the Agency Partnership Program with volume pricing, white-label reporting and centralised management.
  • Public sector, education and procurement teams that need expert-reviewed VPAT and ACR documentation before a tender or a purchasing decision.
  • European organisations that care where their data lives: everything is stored and processed in Germany with ALL-INKL.COM, under German law.

When not to use Accesstive

  • Anyone shopping for a guaranteed compliance badge: Accesstive states in its own terms that it makes no 100% compliance guarantee.
  • Teams looking for a pure overlay widget, since the vendor explicitly positions the platform against the overlay approach.
  • Developers who need to drive the product through a documented public API: the developer section is published but shows only Coming Soon.
  • Buyers expecting PDF remediation, VPAT production or litigation support inside the subscription, as all three are billed as separate services.
  • Very large sites on entry tiers, where continuous monitoring is capped at 10, 50 or 100 pages depending on the plan.
Get started

How to use Accesstive

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Run the free accessibility scan first, from the Accessibility Checker page, without creating an account.
  2. Sign up on the free trial page: name, email, site URL, trial product, company, phone, preferred language and hosting region.
  3. Install the platform with a single line of JavaScript, or through the extension for your CMS.
  4. Customise the visitor toolkit from the dashboard: brand colours, icon, placement, language and accessibility profiles.
  5. Launch a full-site scan on demand, or schedule recurring crawls in Monitor.
  6. Read the central dashboard: severity ranking, disability impact, issue trends and configurable alerts.
  7. Open the Fix Hub, assign each issue to a team member and apply the code-level fix guidance provided.
  8. Verify each fix inside the Fix Hub before closing it, so the audit trail records the change.
  9. Book the free expert consultation, then approve a fixed-price, fixed-timeline proposal for anything needing human judgement.
  10. Collect the deliverables: WCAG-mapped audit report, accessibility statement, timestamped remediation record and retest confirmation.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Covers the whole lifecycle in one subscription, from detection through remediation tracking to documentary proof.
  • Refuses to promise 100% compliance and says so in its own terms, which is rare in this market.
  • All data stored and processed in Germany, with the hosting provider named and German law applying.
  • No pageview-based pricing and no usage limits, with prices and a full tier comparison published openly.
  • Human experts are built into the model: a free consultation on every plan, on-demand fixes from Business upward.
  • Installs in one line of JavaScript, with a script advertised under 50 KB gzipped and extensions for most common CMS platforms.
  • A permanent free plan, a 14-day trial on paid tiers and a 10-day money-back guarantee lower the risk of trying it.

Cons

  • No public API documentation: the developer section of the help centre shows only Coming Soon.
  • SOC 2 Type II is advertised as a Q4 2025 target, and that deadline has passed without the page being updated.
  • The sub-processor list promised in the privacy notice returns a 404, so the disclosure is announced but not delivered.
  • Nothing is said about whether customer data is used to train AI models, and no opt-out is documented.
  • The privacy notice and terms claim storage exclusively in Germany, yet the sign-up form offers a US hosting region.
  • Monitoring page caps are low on entry tiers, at 10, 50 and 100 pages, while PDF remediation and VPAT are billed separately.
  • The German imprint gives no legal form and no commercial register number, and one address is a single privacy@ inbox for legal, GDPR, disputes and cancellations.

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Accesstive handles your data.

GDPR overview

Accesstive is established in Dresden, Germany, so it operates inside the EU and no Article 27 representative is required; the privacy notice still carries an unfilled placeholder where European office details would go. The notice and terms, both dated 21 May 2025, name GDPR, CCPA, AODA, the RPwD Act, the UK Equality Act 2010 and the German BFSG, set out the legal bases used, and list the full set of data subject rights, all exercised through privacy@accesstive.com. The Trust Center adds self-service DSAR tooling, an EU data residency option and GDPR/CCPA mapping. Two gaps stand out: the sub-processor list promised at accesstive.com/sub-processors returns a 404, and SOC 2 Type II is presented as a Q4 2025 target rather than an obtained certification.

Who owns the data?

Section 15 of the terms is unambiguous: the customer owns their website content and data, and Accesstive uses it only to deliver the services. Accesstive keeps the intellectual property in the platform itself, its software, widgets and guidelines, and the customer may not remove Accesstive branding from the widget. The roles are split under the GDPR: Accesstive acts as controller for account and marketing data, and as processor for the Service Data a customer submits, handled only on that customer's instructions and covered by a data processing agreement. When the agreement ends, the licence stops and Accesstive deletes the customer's data unless the law requires it to be kept.

Reuse rights

Customers keep full reuse rights over their own content and data: nothing in the terms requires them to ask Accesstive for permission to use, export or republish the audit findings, remediation records, accessibility statements or VPAT documents produced for their site, and the Trust Center advertises self-service export from the dashboard. The limits run the other way. Accesstive grants only a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to its own platform, forbids copying, reverse-engineering, sublicensing or resale of the services, and requires written permission before its logos, widgets or materials are reused. Accesstive states it neither sells nor rents personal data, and processes customer-submitted Service Data solely on the customer's instructions.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
No numeric retention period is published anywhere on the site. The terms state that when the agreement ends the licence stops and Accesstive deletes the customer's data, unless the law requires it to be kept. Erasure can also be requested at any time from privacy@accesstive.com, and the Trust Center advertises self-service tools letting customers export or delete their data directly from the dashboard. The vendor claims data minimisation, collecting only what powers accessibility features, and says the visitor toolkit tracks nothing and stores nothing. Daily full backups are taken by the German hosting provider, with no stated retention period for those backups. Anyone with a defined retention obligation should ask the vendor to commit to a figure in writing.

Hosting summary

Accesstive states that all data is stored and processed in Germany by ALL-INKL.COM (Neue Medien Munnich, Hauptstrasse 68, 02742 Friedersdorf), and network checks corroborate this: the site resolves to 85.13.164.156, an address operated by that provider in Dresden. The data centres are described as ISO-certified, and the Trust Center specifies ISO 27001, a WAF and DDoS protection, daily full backups and segmented virtual private clouds across multiple availability zones. Compliance is claimed against the GDPR, the German BFSG and EN 301 549, with an EU data residency option advertised. Encryption is stated as AES-256 at rest and TLS in transit, although the privacy notice says TLS 1.2 while the Trust Center says TLS 1.3. One inconsistency deserves attention: the sign-up form lets a new customer choose between an EU and a US hosting region, which the privacy notice and terms, both promising storage exclusively in Germany, never mention. Clarify this with the vendor if data residency is contractually binding for you.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Accesstive.

  • Treating the visitor widget as compliance: the vendor states it does not fix underlying code and does not document any compliance status.
  • Assuming certification exists. SOC 2 Type II is a stated target for Q4 2025, not an achieved certification, and the page has not been updated since that date passed.
  • Relying on a sub-processor list that is announced in the privacy notice but returns a 404, which weakens any vendor due diligence built on it.
  • Silence on AI model training. Nothing states whether customer data trains models, and no opt-out is offered, so sensitive content should be assessed before upload.
  • Automatic renewal with a 30-day cancellation window, no pro-rata refunds and a 1.5% monthly late fee: diarise the renewal date.
  • Mandatory individual arbitration under German DIS rules in Dresden, with a class action waiver, narrows the remedies available in a dispute.
  • Letting automated scores replace human judgement: automated testing catches only part of what disabled users experience, which is precisely why the vendor sells expert review alongside it.
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Low for most sites. Installation is one line of JavaScript that deploys across every page immediately, and dedicated extensions or step-by-step guides exist for the common CMS platforms; on Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and Dreamweaver it is a code snippet pasted into the footer. The free scan runs without an account, and the widget is customised from the dashboard without touching code. One customer review notes the dashboard takes some getting used to. SSO, federated login and CI/CD integration are Enterprise-only, and with no public API there is no scripted automation path.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is Accesstive?
It is an accessibility compliance management platform. From one place, organisations identify accessibility issues, manage remediation, monitor their site continuously and keep the documentation that evidences the work.
Is Accesstive fully automated?
No, and the vendor is explicit about it. Automation detects issues and drafts fixes, while certified human experts handle review, oversight and the problems automation cannot judge. A free expert consultation is included on every plan.
Is there a free plan, and what does the first paid tier cost?
There is a permanent free plan covering a limited toolkit, the dashboard, the statement generator and the contrast checker. The first paid tier, Starter, is EUR 49.00 per month, or EUR 40.00 per month billed annually. Paid plans come with a 14-day trial.
Does Accesstive guarantee that my site will be legally compliant?
No. The terms state there is no 100% compliance guarantee: the services help you work toward WCAG conformance, but legal compliance under the ADA, AODA or BFSG depends on the work you actually carry out.
Where is my data hosted?
In Germany, with ALL-INKL.COM (Neue Medien Munnich, Friedersdorf), in ISO-certified data centres with daily full backups. Note that the sign-up form also offers a US hosting region, which the legal pages do not mention.
Which standards and regulations does it cover?
WCAG, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508, EN 301 549, the European Accessibility Act and the German BITV. Audit reports map each violation to the relevant criterion.
Which platforms can I install it on?
WordPress, TYPO3, Joomla, Shopware, Strapi, Storyblok, Contentful, Divi, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and Dreamweaver have dedicated guides or extensions. Drupal and Magento are announced. Anywhere else, one line of JavaScript is enough.
Is there an API I can build on?
Not publicly. The help centre has a developer section, but it currently displays Coming Soon, and no API documentation is published on the site.
Is there a minimum age to use the service?
Yes, 16. Both the terms of service and the privacy notice state that the services are not intended for anyone under sixteen.
Conclusion

Should you pick Accesstive?

Accesstive occupies a defensible middle ground in a market crowded with overlay vendors. Instead of selling a script that claims to make a site compliant, it builds a loop that most scanners stop short of: find the issues, work them through a remediation tracker with code-level guidance, bring in certified experts for what automation cannot judge, then leave behind a timestamped record, an audit report, an accessibility statement and, where needed, a VPAT. The refusal to promise full compliance, written into the terms themselves, is a genuine differentiator and reads as commercial honesty rather than caution.

The German footing is the second real argument. Data is stored and processed in Germany with a named provider, German law governs the contract, and prices are published in full rather than hidden behind a sales call. Setup is genuinely light: one line of JavaScript, or a CMS extension.

The reservations are documentary rather than functional. There is no public API to build on. SOC 2 Type II is still described as a Q4 2025 target on a page that has not been refreshed since. The sub-processor list the privacy notice points to returns a 404, and nothing at all is said about whether customer data feeds model training. The sign-up form's US hosting option also sits awkwardly beside a privacy notice that promises German-only storage.

For a European organisation that must demonstrate an ongoing accessibility effort, particularly under the European Accessibility Act, Accesstive is a credible and reasonably priced choice. Buyers with contractual security requirements should verify the certification and sub-processor claims directly with the vendor before signing.
