Overview

What is GetSound?

GetSound is an ambient music application that its publisher describes as an RTS (Real-Time Soundscape) desktop music app that creates infinite ambient soundscapes in real-time. Rather than streaming pre-recorded tracks, the engine watches weather, location, time of day, light exposure and wind, then combines those inputs with textures produced by EuroRack modular synthesis. The central claim follows from that: what you hear is unique to you and to that precise moment, a mechanism the home page sums up in one line, When your weather changes - your soundscape changes.

The company leans on what it calls the novelty effect. Because a fresh soundscape is generated at every launch, the argument runs, the sound never becomes familiar enough to stop working. Three uses are pushed forward: focus and productivity, relaxation and mindfulness, and studying.

There are two audiences. Individuals get the Free and Personal plans, both limited to one device and to personal, non-commercial listening. Professional venues get Small Business and Large Business licences plus zone control, so a site with several spaces can steer each space separately. The about page names coworking spaces, offices, libraries and educational institutions; the knowledge base adds hotels, spas and wellness centres.

Platform coverage is unusually wide for a small publisher: desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux, iOS and Android apps, and a playable trial in the browser. One detail is worth knowing: the macOS download points to a binary named Clariti.dmg, and GetSound and Clariti (clariti.io) share terms, privacy policy and knowledge base, without the publisher ever spelling out where one product ends and the other begins. When the network drops, the app falls back to offline tracks, presented as a stopgap rather than a durable mode.

GetSound, LLC is registered in Delaware. Founders Adi Goldstein and Lior Nitzan are introduced as musicians, producers and sound-environment designers with more than twenty years of experience.

The publisher states its own limits plainly: this is not a medical device, it offers no medical or psychological advice, and it should not be used while driving or operating heavy machinery.

What it does

  • Generate a unique ambient soundscape in real time at every session
  • Sync the sound with the live weather of the location you choose
  • Stack environment layers: forest, rain, lakes, oceans, rivers, chimes and city sounds
  • Switch to any location in the world in a single click
  • Refresh the soundscape whenever you want, without limit on the paid plan
  • Set a session timer for meditation or for falling asleep
  • Drive the sound zone by zone across a multi-space professional venue

When to use GetSound / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if GetSound is the right fit.

When to use GetSound

  • Knowledge workers who need long stretches of concentration and find fixed playlists distracting
  • Students and researchers looking for study-session background sound, at home or in a library
  • Coworking spaces and open-plan offices wanting an ambient sound layer rather than a radio station
  • Hotels, spas and wellness centres that need distinct atmospheres in several rooms at once, through zone-by-zone control
  • People who meditate, practise mindfulness or use sound to fall asleep, helped by the session timer
  • Listeners who have worn out their focus playlists and want a soundscape that differs at every launch

When not to use GetSound

  • Audio producers and content creators: the terms forbid downloading, redistributing or reusing the music in films, games, podcasts, advertising, radio or live sets
  • Shops, cafes and other public venues on a personal plan, since public performance requires a Small Business or Enterprise licence
  • Anyone looking for a therapeutic tool: the terms state the service is not designed to prevent, treat or diagnose any condition
  • Under-18s, whom the service states it does not address, and who need a parent or guardian
  • Drivers, pilots and machine operators, whom the terms advise against listening while operating vehicles or heavy machinery
  • Teams wanting to wire the tool into their own stack: no public API and no third-party integrations are documented

How to use GetSound

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Download the desktop app for macOS, Windows or Linux from the home page, or install the mobile app from the App Store or Google Play
  2. Alternatively, open the browser trial at app.getsound.ai/trial, though the publisher recommends the desktop app for the best experience
  3. Create an account with your full name and email address, or sign up through a social network
  4. Allow location access if you want weather sync and worldwide location picking; declining is possible, and the data is then not collected
  5. Pick a location anywhere in the world and switch weather sync on
  6. Stack environment layers, from forest, rain and lake to ocean, river, chimes and city sounds, until the mix suits the room
  7. Balance the volume of each component: ambience, weather and individual layers
  8. Set a session timer if you are meditating or heading to sleep
  9. Hit refresh whenever you want an entirely new soundscape
  10. In a professional venue, create zones so that each space is driven separately, and use the Help Scout knowledge base, the Discord community and feedback.getsound.ai for guides and requests

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how GetSound handles your data.

GDPR overview

There is no GDPR implementation to report. The words GDPR and General Data Protection Regulation appear nowhere on the site, in the terms, in the privacy policy or in the knowledge base, across seventeen archived pages checked in both text and HTML. No EU representative under Article 27 is designated, no data protection officer is named, no data processing agreement is published or offered, and no sub-processor list exists. The privacy policy does describe access, rectification, deletion and portability rights, with a 14-day turnaround for a machine-readable copy, but never ties them to any statute. The terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, with exclusive jurisdiction of Delaware state and federal courts, informal resolution through info@getsound.ai and then binding individual arbitration. The service states it does not address anyone under 18.

Who owns the data?

GetSound, LLC, a Delaware-registered company in Wilmington, owns and controls the data; its privacy policy also covers the sibling product Clariti and was last updated on 3 April 2024. Collected data may include email, name, phone number and postal address, plus log data (IP address, browser version, pages viewed, timestamps, time spent) and cookies. Location is gathered only after an in-context consent prompt. Users may view, amend or delete their personal information, request a machine-readable copy within 14 days, and delete their account from the app. In a merger or acquisition, data may pass to the acquirer, with notice. Requests go to info@getsound.ai.

Reuse rights

GetSound states that it uses personal data internally to improve the site and the app, analyse usage, personalise the experience, resolve disputes and handle technical problems, and that it may send marketing emails about new services and updates to the address provided, with unsubscription handled by writing to info@getsound.ai. The company declares that it does not disclose, sell or transfer personal information to third parties for advertising purposes; sharing with affiliated partners and third-party content providers is limited to statistical information, and location data is neither sold nor shared except to deliver the service. Recordings made with the video sharing feature are said to involve no personal information collected, processed or stored. Data may still be disclosed under a court order, a subpoena, an official request, or to protect the company's rights. The Google Play Data safety section declares no data collected and no data shared with third parties, with encryption in transit. Neither the privacy policy nor the terms address whether customer data is used to train AI models. On the output side the end user gains no reuse rights: the terms forbid downloading, redistributing or reusing the generated music outside the app.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
No retention period is quantified anywhere in the privacy policy or in the terms, neither for account data nor for log data. Deletion is available on request to info@getsound.ai or directly from the app, and the publisher describes it as total and irreversible, adding that it will also lose any record of the user having been on its systems. The one stated exception is data it is legally required to keep. A portable, machine-readable copy is provided within 14 days, free of charge unless the request is unfounded, excessive or repetitive. Recordings made through the video sharing feature are said to hold no personal information. Data belonging to users found to be under 18 is removed from the servers on discovery, and trial-period data and preferences are kept if the user converts to a paid subscription.
GDPR contact

Hosting summary

GetSound declares no hosting country and no hosting region. The privacy policy, the terms and the knowledge base were checked across seventeen archived pages, in text and in HTML, and none names a jurisdiction, a data centre or a cloud provider for stored user data. Only the delivery infrastructure is observable: the site resolves to 18.239.208.28, an Amazon CloudFront edge node on AS16509 geolocated in Zaventem, Belgium. That is a CDN point of presence, not a storage location, and it must not be read as an indication of where personal data lives. Desktop binaries are distributed through the same CloudFront layer and images from an S3 bucket (gs-assets-public.s3.amazonaws.com). On payments, the terms specify that the publisher's own servers never receive payment method data, which is handled by Stripe or by the app store, and the Google Play Data safety section states that data is encrypted in transit. Beyond those points, anyone with a data residency requirement will have to ask the publisher directly at info@getsound.ai, because the published documents give no answer.

Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting GetSound.

  • No mention of the GDPR anywhere on the site: verify the publisher's position yourself before any deployment in a European organisation
  • No hosting country or region declared, no DPA, no sub-processor list, no Article 27 EU representative and no security certification claimed
  • Complete silence on AI model training: no commitment that customer data is excluded, and no opt-out mechanism
  • The 7-day trial rolls over automatically into a monthly subscription unless it is cancelled 24 hours before the end
  • No refund is possible for a subscription bought through an app store, and a Stripe refund may be assessed against your usage history
  • Public performance is forbidden without a Small Business or Enterprise licence, even for a small shop, and the headline USD 9 per month requires a USD 108 annual commitment against USD 12 month to month
  • Fine print worth reading: a merger clause allows personal data to be transferred to an acquirer, liability is capped at 10% of the sums paid, and the publisher's address is a PMB mailbox in Wilmington, Delaware rather than an operating office
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Setup requires no technical skill. Download the app, create an account with an email address or a social login, and playback starts immediately: there is nothing to install on a server, no API key and no configuration. The only step calling for a decision is granting location permission, on which weather sync depends; refusing it is possible. The publisher recommends the desktop app over the browser version for the best experience. A professional venue has one extra step, creating zones inside the app, alongside the purchase of a Small Business or Enterprise licence.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is GetSound?
An ambient music app that generates soundscapes in real time and reshapes them according to the weather, the location and the time of day at the place you choose, using textures from EuroRack modular synthesis.
Which platforms does it run on?
Desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux, plus iOS and Android apps and a playable trial in the browser at app.getsound.ai/trial.
Is there a free plan?
Yes, and it is permanent. It carries advertising and audio watermarks, caps listening at 60 minutes per day, and limits the set of environments and locations on a single device.
How much does the paid plan cost?
The Personal plan is USD 12 per month, or USD 9 per month on an annual commitment billed at USD 108 per year. Billing is in US dollars, so conversion fees may apply.
How does the free trial work?
Seven days of full access to the Personal features, with no payment taken at sign-up. If it is not cancelled it rolls over automatically into a monthly subscription; otherwise the account returns to the free plan, with watermarks and the 60-minute daily cap.
Can I download or reuse the music?
No. The terms forbid downloading, reselling, redistributing or embedding the music, including in films, games, podcasts, web and TV advertising, radio, live performance, Content ID and NFTs.
Can I play it in my shop or cafe?
Not on a personal plan. Playing the music in a public space requires a Small Business or Enterprise licence.
Can I get a refund?
Not for a subscription purchased through an app store. For a payment made through Stripe you have to contact the publisher, who may review your usage history before deciding.
Is my data used to train AI models?
The site says nothing about it, neither in the privacy policy nor in the terms. There is no commitment on the point and no opt-out mechanism.
How do I delete my account and my data?
From the app itself, or by writing to info@getsound.ai. The privacy policy describes deletion as total and irreversible.
Conclusion

Should you pick GetSound?

GetSound answers a narrow question well: what to listen to once a focus playlist has been played so often that it no longer works. Instead of serving tracks, it generates a soundscape in real time and lets the weather, the location and the hour of the day reshape it, an environmental reactivity that few competitors offer and the main reason the product is worth a listen.

Testing it costs very little. The free plan is permanent, the 7-day trial takes no payment up front, and the paid Personal plan sits at USD 9 per month on an annual commitment or USD 12 without one. Coverage is broad for a small publisher: macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android and a browser trial. Venues with several rooms get zone-by-zone control and dedicated Small Business and Large Business licences, whose prices are not published.

The reservations deserve weighing before any organisational rollout. Compliance documentation is thin to the point of absence: no mention of the GDPR anywhere, no data processing agreement, no sub-processor list, no declared hosting country, no security certification, and complete silence on whether customer data feeds model training. A European buyer will have to put those questions directly to the publisher. Update cadence is the second reservation, since the mobile apps have not moved since late 2023 and the terms and privacy policy have been unchanged since April 2024: the service runs, but shows little visible activity. The third is licensing, as the music never leaves the app and playing it in a public space requires a business licence.

For an individual listener the risk is small and the offer generous. For a company, the sound is likely to convince before the paperwork does.
