Overview

What is Monobot?

Monobot, also branded Monobot CX, is a platform for building AI agents that hold conversations by voice, by chat and by SMS. It is published by TRING, Inc., an IT outsourcing company based in Mountain View, California, whose founder has spent two decades in contact centre software; the monobot.ai domain itself was only registered in March 2024, so the product is young even if the house behind it is not.

The platform rests on three blocks. The AI Agent Builder is where an assistant is defined, from its name and greeting to its personality, communication style and voice, with no coding involved. The Workspace is the hybrid layer where human agents and AI work side by side: live suggestions during calls, automatic call summaries, instant sentiment readings and knowledge base search without leaving the conversation. The analytics block covers a dashboard of interactions by channel, per-conversation detail with timestamps, latency and extracted keywords, and voice analytics across calls.

Six use cases are pushed on the site: customer support, sales and lead generation, HR automation, IT helpdesk, voice analytics and BPO optimisation. Fourteen ready-made industry templates cover executive transport, corporate HR, banking, healthcare, real estate, airlines, insurance, retail, IT support, education, utilities, public services, logistics and manufacturing.

Technically, agents can be published as a chat widget, a web call or a real phone line, with dedicated PSTN numbers, SIP extensions, external SIP trunks, IP whitelisting and call transfer with attached data. A retrieval-based knowledge base feeds answers, automation flows chain custom actions, and an open API, webhooks and an SDK cover the rest. The site claims more than 20 languages, more than 30 voices and a choice of underlying LLMs, though none are named.

Headline numbers are ambitious and unverifiable: up to 80% of routine calls automated, 92% first-call resolution, 40% lower support costs, three times more requests handled and a five-minute setup. A white-label and OEM programme lets agencies and software vendors run the whole thing under their own brand.

What it does

  • Answer inbound calls and place outbound ones with a natural-sounding voice agent
  • Run website chat and SMS conversations from the same assistant
  • Book appointments, take reservations and manage schedules 24/7
  • Qualify leads and support sales and lead generation campaigns
  • Handle repetitive HR and IT service desk requests
  • Transfer a live call to a phone number or contact centre with the collected data attached
  • Transcribe, summarise and analyse conversations for sentiment, keywords and cost
Audience

When to use Monobot / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Monobot is the right fit.

When to use Monobot

  • BPO providers and contact centres that want to take repetitive, high-volume inbound calls off their agents
  • Customer support teams looking for round-the-clock coverage without adding headcount
  • Sales and lead generation teams that need inbound enquiries qualified at scale
  • HR and IT service desks answering the same internal questions every day
  • Agencies, integrators and SaaS vendors who want to resell voice and chat AI under their own brand

When not to use Monobot

  • Individuals and hobbyists: the cheapest plan starts at USD 200 per month and there is no free tier
  • Very small businesses with light call volumes, who would pay the monthly package whether they use it or not
  • Emergency services: the terms explicitly exclude PSAP, ECC and emergency call routing operations
  • Anyone under 18, who may not use the website or the service at all
  • Organisations that must document where their data physically sits, since no hosting country or region is published

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Voice, chat, SMS, telephony and human supervision live in a single platform rather than in a stack of separate tools
  • Per-unit pricing is published in full for every plan, which remains rare in this market
  • The bundled per-minute rate is argued openly against unbundled competitors, at USD 0.22 to 0.27 versus a claimed USD 0.40 to 0.80 elsewhere
  • A no-code builder, fourteen industry templates and a claimed five-minute setup lower the barrier for non-technical teams
  • Professional services hours are included in every plan, from 8 hours on Starter to 240 hours and more on Enterprise
  • Support SLAs are tiered by plan and Enterprise adds a 99.99% infrastructure commitment with dedicated support teams
  • ISO 27001:2022, PCI DSS 4.0.1 and SOC 2 badges, a HIPAA add-on and a white-label option that allows private or hybrid cloud deployment

Cons

  • No permanent free plan: the entry ticket is USD 200 per month, paid whether the package is consumed or not
  • Free trial units only work inside the Admin Panel, so an agent cannot be tested on a public widget or a real phone number before paying
  • No refunds at all, not even pro rata, including when an account is closed mid-period
  • No hosting country or region is published anywhere on the site, and no subprocessor list is available
  • Model training on customer data is never mentioned, in either direction, and no opt-out is documented
  • The 20+ languages and 30+ voices are never named, and the security certifications appear only as footer badges since the Vanta trust centre renders in JavaScript
  • No mobile application, and the six named testimonials with their percentage gains cannot be verified independently

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Monobot handles your data.

GDPR overview

GDPR is addressed, but lightly. The privacy policy devotes a section to Your Rights and Choices, listing access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent and the right to complain to a supervisory authority, and states plainly that GDPR rights apply to users located in the European Union or the European Economic Area. The white-label page describes the platform as GDPR-ready with encryption, DPA support and detailed audit logs. Beyond that the documentation is thin: no Article 27 EU representative is designated, no data protection officer is named, no legal basis is attached to each processing purpose, and international transfers and standard contractual clauses are never mentioned. Every request goes to a single generic address, contact@monobot.ai. The policy was last updated on 25 November 2024.

Who owns the data?

The terms state that everything published on the website, from text and graphics to images and logos, belongs to TRING, Inc. or its licensors. They say nothing about who owns the conversations your agents handle, the transcripts they produce or the summaries they generate: that question is never settled in writing. The privacy policy positions TRING, Inc. as the controller of personal data and warns that telephone calls and chat conversations may be monitored or recorded for request fulfilment, quality assurance, analytics and dispute resolution. Recorded material may be shared with third-party providers covering hosting, support, payment and analytics, disclosed to meet legal obligations, and transferred to a buyer if the business changes hands.

Reuse rights

Reuse is tightly framed on the publisher's side and left open on yours. The terms allow you to download pages or content for personal use on a single computer, and to use the site only for legitimate business purposes as a current or prospective customer, developer, partner, supplier or distributor. Copying, reproducing, modifying, distributing or transferring any website content in any form requires Tring's prior written consent, and deep-linking to the site is forbidden without authorisation. Nothing restricts what you do with the transcripts, summaries and analytics your own agents generate, but nothing grants that right explicitly either. You remain solely responsible for every activity carried out under your account.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
No retention period is published. The privacy policy says only that direct communications are kept to process enquiries and improve services, and that some information is retained to meet legal obligations or defend against claims. Calls and chat conversations may be recorded and kept for quality assurance, analytics and dispute resolution. Inside the platform, saving voice recordings is a per-agent setting that can be turned on or off, and Zero Data Retention is sold as a paid add-on at USD 1,000 per month, which means keeping data is the default behaviour. Users can request deletion by writing to contact@monobot.ai; identity may be verified first, and manifestly unfounded or excessive requests can be refused. Anonymisation and pseudonymisation are never mentioned.

Hosting summary

Nothing is published about where customer data is stored. The privacy policy acknowledges that third-party providers handle hosting, information technology, payment processing and analytics, but never names them or their locations, and no data residency option is advertised outside the white-label and OEM programme, which lets larger customers choose between Monobot Cloud, their own private cloud or a hybrid setup. The publisher is established in California, the terms are governed by the law of that state, and disputes go to the courts of Santa Clara. One technical observation, which the vendor does not claim as a commitment: the website itself resolves to an Amazon-hosted address in Ashburn, United States, which describes the marketing site rather than production customer data. Security posture is signalled through ISO 27001:2022, PCI DSS 4.0.1 and SOC 2 badges and a Vanta trust centre, though that page renders only in JavaScript and returned nothing. A HIPAA add-on with Zero Data Retention is sold separately at USD 1,000 per month.

Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Monobot.

  • Calls and chats may be monitored or recorded, which means the people your agents speak to hand over voice data, sometimes sensitive, often without realising it
  • Nothing is published about where data is hosted or whether it crosses borders, so a compliance review has no documentation to work from
  • Model training on customer data is never addressed: there is neither a commitment not to train nor a documented opt-out
  • Default retention is undocumented and Zero Data Retention is a paid add-on, so keeping recordings is the normal behaviour unless you pay to stop it
  • Voice agents are designed to be indistinguishable from humans, which the site celebrates in a testimonial; disclosing to callers that they are talking to a machine is left entirely to you
  • Automating 80% of first-line conversations erodes in-house expertise on exactly the calls that train new staff, and rebuilding that knowledge later is slow
  • The terms exclude emergency call handling and can be changed without notice, effective immediately on publication, while no refund is available if you walk away
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Easy for a chat assistant, demanding for a phone deployment. Signing up, creating an organisation and launching an agent from a template needs no code, and the publisher advertises a five-minute setup aimed at business analysts and product managers. Voice tuning already exposes technical parameters such as voice activity detection, end-of-turn handling and phonemes, and connecting real telephony means SIP extensions, external trunks, IP whitelisting and digest authentication. Every plan bundles professional services hours, and a certified Expert Setup service exists, which tells you the harder cases are expected.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is Monobot?
Monobot, branded Monobot CX on the platform itself, is an AI virtual agent platform that handles voice and chat interactions for customer service. It is published by TRING, Inc., based in Mountain View, California, and also covers SMS and full telephony.
Is there a free plan or a free trial?
There is no permanent free plan. New accounts get an allowance of free chat and voice units, with no credit card required, but those units only work for testing inside the Admin Panel. Publishing a widget or connecting a phone number requires a paid subscription.
How much does it cost?
Plans are monthly credit packages: Starter at USD 200, Growth at USD 500, Business at USD 1,000, and Enterprise on quotation. Usage beyond the package is billed as overage. Extra seats cost USD 10, a dedicated phone number USD 2.50, and the HIPAA add-on with Zero Data Retention USD 1,000 per month.
How hard is it to set up?
The publisher advertises a five-minute setup with no coding required, and its own FAQ says the tool suits non-technical users such as business analysts and product managers. A chat widget is genuinely quick; wiring up SIP trunks, IP whitelisting and custom API actions is another matter, which is why every plan bundles professional services hours.
Which languages and voices are supported?
The site claims more than 20 languages and more than 30 voices, along with a choice of underlying language models. Neither the languages nor the voices are ever listed by name anywhere on the site or in the documentation.
Can an AI agent hand a call over to a human?
Yes. Calls can be transferred to a phone number or to a contact centre with the collected data attached, and the Workspace gives human agents live suggestions, automatic summaries and sentiment readings during the conversation.
What can Monobot connect to?
The integrations page advertises more than 100 connectors, naming Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk and Zapier. Elsewhere the site and documentation cite Genesys, Twilio, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Cal.com, Altegio, Telegram and Instagram, alongside an open API, webhooks and an SDK.
What happens to call recordings and personal data?
The privacy policy warns that calls and chats may be monitored or recorded for request fulfilment, quality assurance, analytics and dispute resolution. No retention period is published, saving recordings is a per-agent setting, and Zero Data Retention is sold as a paid add-on rather than being the default.
Is there an API and a minimum age?
Yes to the API: documentation lives on docs.monobot.ai and covers agent settings, telephony, actions and widgets, with webhooks and an SDK. The service is reserved for users aged 18 or over, or the age of majority in their jurisdiction.
Conclusion

Should you pick Monobot?

Monobot is a broad, coherent bet on conversational AI for organisations that already handle a serious flow of calls and messages. Voice, chat, SMS, real telephony, human supervision, analytics and a white-label programme sit in the same product, and the pricing page is unusually candid: every per-unit rate is printed, plan by plan, alongside an explicit argument that bundling the model, the voice provider and the platform into one per-minute rate beats buying them separately. Professional services hours in every plan and tiered support SLAs reinforce the impression of a vendor that expects to be implemented, not merely subscribed to.

The counterweight is the entry ticket. At USD 200 per month with no permanent free tier, and with trial units confined to the Admin Panel, a team cannot validate the product on a live widget or a real phone number without paying first. Refunds do not exist, not even pro rata.

The bigger reservation is transparency about data. Calls and chats may be recorded, yet no hosting country or region is published, no subprocessor list exists, no retention period is stated, and model training on customer data is never mentioned at all, neither promised nor ruled out. Zero Data Retention is a USD 1,000 per month add-on rather than a default. The ISO 27001, PCI DSS and SOC 2 badges look reassuring, but the trust centre behind them only renders in JavaScript, so nothing could be read.

For a BPO, a contact centre or a mid-market company with repetitive inbound volume, Monobot deserves a demo and a pilot. Before signing, ask in writing where data is stored, how long it is kept, and whether any of it reaches a training set.
