Moonshot AI
Moonshot AI is an autonomous conversion optimization platform for online stores. It studies visitor behavior, builds test variants with generative AI, runs them on live traffic, then rolls the winners out sitewide without any developer involvement.
What is Moonshot AI?
Moonshot AI is a conversion rate optimization platform that runs the whole optimization loop by itself. Published by Moonshot AI, Inc., it targets online stores whose traffic is healthy but whose conversion rate, average order value or revenue per visitor is not, and its pitch is blunt: your store optimizes itself while you sleep.
The engine works in six moves. It scans the storefront the way a CRO specialist would and marks the places where shoppers hesitate or drop off. It then generates experiment ideas, design, copy and the code to implement them, drawing on what it has learned from thousands of other sites and tests, and attaches a projected revenue lift and a confidence score to each one. It builds the variants pixel by pixel in the brand's own visual language, with a preview available before anything goes live. It launches the tests on real traffic within minutes, handling targeting and traffic splits through its built-in testing engine. It reads performance across variants in real time. Finally it promotes the winner to the entire audience without anyone clicking anything.
The homepage frames the same cycle in four stages: X-Ray, Synthesis, Test and Alter Website. Two operating modes are offered, semi-automatic, where the team approves each change before publication, and automatic, where Moonshot deploys on its own and keeps iterating.
Installation is a single lightweight tracking script, compared on the site to the one Google Analytics uses. Nothing is compiled, nothing is installed, and the platform calls itself platform-agnostic: Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Magento and custom builds all qualify. The dashboard, presented as a growth cockpit, ranks recommendations by expected impact, charts revenue lift, click-through and conversion, and keeps a history and roadmap of ideas.
The company advertises more than one billion dollars of annual GMV under optimization, over fifty million visitors analyzed, more than twenty thousand experiments deployed and revenue-per-visitor gains up to 48 percent, with a stated 72 hours between installation and first lift. There is no public API, no mobile app and no published price.
What it does
- Scans a storefront the way a CRO specialist would and pinpoints where shoppers hesitate or leave
- Generates experiment ideas complete with design, copy and code, each carrying a projected revenue lift and a confidence score
- Builds pixel-accurate variants in the brand's existing visual language, previewable before publication
- Launches tests on live traffic within minutes, handling targeting and traffic splits itself
- Reads performance across every variant in real time
- Promotes the winning variant to 100% of traffic automatically
- Rewrites the site's front end with no code and no developer involved
When to use Moonshot AI / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Moonshot AI is the right fit.
When to use Moonshot AI
- Ecommerce brands with steady traffic but no in-house CRO team of designers, developers and analysts
- Growth and ecommerce managers who want testing to run continuously instead of campaign by campaign
- CMOs who have to show leadership a measured revenue lift rather than an activity report
- Product and UX teams whose optimization ideas keep stalling in a developer backlog
- Merchants on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Magento or a custom stack able to add one script
When not to use Moonshot AI
- Businesses with no ecommerce storefront, since the platform is positioned solely on retail site optimization
- Buyers who need a published price before agreeing to a sales call, as nothing is quoted publicly
- Teams looking for an API or technical documentation to build on top of the platform
- Organizations whose procurement demands a DPA, a subprocessor list or a stated GDPR position
- Anyone under 18, and anyone expecting a mobile app or a self-service sign-up
How to use Moonshot AI
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Request a demo through the form on the site, supplying name, email, store URL and phone; the session is announced at 20 minutes
- Add the Moonshot tracking script to the storefront, a single tag comparable to the Google Analytics one
- Let the AI analyze the key metrics, conversion rate, average order value and visitor behavior, to identify underperforming pages and elements
- Review the experiment ideas the AI generates, each with its design, copy, code, projected lift and confidence score
- Choose the operating mode: semi-automatic, where the team approves changes, or automatic, where Moonshot deploys on its own
- Preview a variant before it is published if the semi-automatic mode is used
- Let the built-in testing engine run the experiment on live traffic, splitting and targeting without further input
- Follow results in the dashboard: ranked recommendations, revenue lift and conversion charts, idea history and roadmap
- Let winning variants be promoted to the whole audience automatically and the next cycle begin
- Expect the first measurable lift within the 72 hours the company advertises between installation and result
Pros & Cons
Pros
- The full CRO loop is automated, from analysis and design through testing to deployment, with no human handover between steps
- Setup comes down to one script, which keeps the platform genuinely compatible with any ecommerce stack
- No designer, developer or analyst is required, an argument the site repeats consistently and that its customer quotes back up
- Semi-automatic mode lets a team keep approval rights instead of surrendering the site to the engine
- Named customer results are published on the case studies page, with brands identified rather than anonymized
- The announced pricing logic, a subscription indexed on traffic tiers, is at least simple to reason about
- The company closed a USD 10 million round in November 2025, bringing total funding to USD 13 million
Cons
- No price is published anywhere: there is no pricing page, no amount and no tier, so budgeting requires a sales call
- Neither GDPR nor CCPA is mentioned, and no DPA, subprocessor list or Article 27 EU representative is offered
- No security certification is displayed, with no trust or security page, no SOC 2 and no ISO reference
- Data hosting is never located, neither by country nor by region, while international transfers are acknowledged
- No documented way to exclude customer data from service improvement or model work, and no API or technical documentation
- No postal address, legal notice page or contact page exists, so the legal identity rests on the company name alone
- The site itself is unfinished in places: the solutions page repeats blocks and still carries unfilled placeholders, and the terms dated January 2025 describe free access that the FAQ contradicts
Pricing & Plans
Moonshot AI publishes no prices. The site carries no pricing page, and the FAQ states only that the subscription is set by the traffic tier of the customer's site, presented as a simple monthly subscription with no surprises. No permanent free plan is advertised, and no free trial is confirmed: asked whether it offers a free trial or a demo, the FAQ answers about demos alone. The single commercial entry point is the demo request form, so no lowest price point and no currency can be established from public sources.
Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Moonshot AI handles your data.
GDPR overview
Neither the privacy policy nor the terms of use names the GDPR: the words GDPR and CCPA appear nowhere on the site. What the policy does carry is GDPR vocabulary. It lists lawful bases, namely consent, performance of a contract, legal obligation and legitimate interest, and grants access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent, framed as applying to people protected by specific laws and subject to exemptions. Requests go to privacy@moonshot-ai.com, may require identity verification, and can be charged for when manifestly unfounded or excessive. International transfers are acknowledged, with adequacy decisions or contractual transfer instruments cited as safeguards. No Article 27 EU representative, no data protection officer, no DPA and no subprocessor list are published. The policy was last updated on 19 April 2026.
Who owns the data?
Moonshot AI, Inc. positions itself as a processor rather than an owner. Anything captured from a merchant's storefront visitors, which the privacy policy illustrates with visitor IP addresses, is labelled Customer Information and handled on the merchant's behalf. The merchant remains the responsible party for its security, integrity and authorized use, and must obtain consent and publish the required notices. That material sits outside Moonshot's own privacy policy, which redirects any question about it to the merchant. Data the merchant provides about itself, such as name, email, store URL, phone and billing details, is governed by Moonshot's policy, with access, rectification, erasure and portability exercised through privacy@moonshot-ai.com. Site content and trademarks remain Moonshot's property.
Reuse rights
The terms of use are restrictive on Moonshot's side of the relationship. Site content, documents, graphics, software and marks may be consulted for personal information only: copying, modifying, redistributing, selling, licensing or decompiling any of it requires prior written consent, and any downloaded copy must keep its proprietary notices. AI Generated Output, meaning the insights, analyses and other content the platform produces, is supplied as is, carries no accuracy guarantee, must not be passed off as human-written, and must not be used to train a model that competes with Moonshot. Automated collection of any kind, robots and scrapers included, is forbidden. In the other direction, the merchant's own store data stays the merchant's, since Moonshot only processes it as a service provider. Moonshot separately reserves the right to anonymize or de-identify personal data and reuse it to analyze and improve its services and for research purposes.

Hosting summary
Moonshot AI does not say where data is hosted. No country and no region appears anywhere on the site. The privacy policy refers only to cloud service providers used for hosting purposes, without naming them, and the same is true of the email, marketing, CRM, artificial intelligence and analytics providers it mentions as recipients. International transfers are acknowledged openly: personal data may be transferred to affiliates and service providers in countries outside the user's own jurisdiction, whose privacy laws may differ. The safeguards claimed are an adequacy finding for the destination country and, or in addition, contractual onward transfer instruments described as data processing and protection agreements. No subprocessor list is published. The publisher is Moonshot AI, Inc., a United States company, and the terms of use are governed by the law of the State of New York with exclusive jurisdiction in New York courts, which is the clearest jurisdictional signal available. The domain itself resolves behind Cloudflare on an anycast address, which says nothing about where data actually sits.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Moonshot AI.
- In automatic mode the platform changes a live commercial site with no human review, so a bad variant reaches paying customers before anyone reads it
- A third-party script sitting on checkout and product pages watches shoppers continuously, which widens the surface a merchant has to account for
- The merchant, not Moonshot, stays legally responsible for visitor data collected through the tool, consent included, and it is easy to assume the vendor carries that weight
- Compliance documentation is thin for what the tool does: no GDPR position, no DPA, no subprocessor list, no Article 27 representative and no hosting location
- De-identified data may be reused to improve the services and for research, with no documented way for a customer to opt out
- Liability is capped at USD 50 or the last three months of fees, which is negligible against the revenue the tool is trusted to influence
- Delegating judgement about what converts to an engine can quietly erode a team's own understanding of its customers, and the published results come with no methodology or measurement window
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low on the technical side. A single lightweight tracking script goes on the site, comparable to the Google Analytics tag, with no plugin, no installation and no coding skill required according to the FAQ. Any platform that accepts a script qualifies. The real gate is commercial rather than technical: access runs through a demo call, since there is no self-service sign-up. One decision does deserve thought, choosing between semi-automatic mode with human approval and fully automatic deployment, but that is governance, not difficulty. First measurable lift is announced at 72 hours after installation.

Should you pick Moonshot AI?
Moonshot AI occupies a narrow and clearly drawn position: autonomous conversion optimization for ecommerce storefronts, nothing wider. Its genuine differentiator is that it closes the loop. Most tools in this space stop at suggesting ideas and leave the building, shipping and measuring to a team that usually does not exist; Moonshot builds the variant, ships it, measures it and promotes the winner without waiting for anyone. For a brand with traffic and no CRO headcount, that is a real gap being filled, and the named case studies on the site give the claim more weight than the usual anonymous testimonial.
The friction sits elsewhere. Technically the barrier is close to nothing, one script on any platform. Commercially it is high: no price appears anywhere on the site, and the only path in is a demo call, so no one can size the investment before speaking to sales. The company itself looks solid enough for its stage, backed by USD 13 million in total funding and maintaining an up-to-date privacy policy dated April 2026.
The main reservation is documentary. A tool that drops a script onto commercial pages, watches shoppers and rewrites the front end automatically invites hard questions about compliance, and the site answers almost none of them: no GDPR mention, no DPA, no subprocessor list, no hosting location, no security certification and no postal address. Procurement at any regulated buyer will stall there. A second reservation is smaller but telling: the solutions page still carries duplicated blocks and unfilled placeholders, which suggests the public-facing material has not fully caught up with the product.
