Clausis is a legal AI platform published by ClausisAI Technologies Kft. of Budapest and aimed at practising lawyers rather than at general users — the homepage states plainly that it is not a general-purpose AI. Its home jurisdiction is Hungary, where coverage is deepest, with European Union law covered alongside it. Research runs over a Hungarian legislative corpus of more than 69,000 texts and the published corpus of court decisions, together with the official gazette, Constitutional Court rulings, and decisions of the data protection, competition and intellectual property authorities, the company register, bar association rules, EUR-Lex and Court of Justice case-law. The engine is hybrid, combining vector and full-text search with reciprocal rank fusion reranking and multilingual embeddings tuned for legal text. Every source is indexed at section level, so a citation points at the provision rather than at the document, and each result carries a high, medium or low confidence score. An in-force guard flags repealed or amended rules before they are cited. Document work runs on a proprietary DOCX engine. Revisions appear as real Word tracked changes rather than coloured text, two versions can be compared as a blackline, edits touch only the paragraph identified, and comments, revision marks, hidden metadata and author names are stripped before sending. A firm memory called Tudásbázis answers from the practice's own contracts, filings, judgments and correspondence, records the positions the firm has taken, and reproduces its drafting style. The administrative side covers matters, clients, anti-money-laundering onboarding, conflict checks, deadlines, hearings, tasks, calendars, time recording, invoicing and a client portal. Company registration forms are generated as schema-compliant XML, and calculators cover deadlines, fees, stamp duty and interest. Close to a hundred specialised tools are called agentically. The models come from the Google Gemini family, served through Google Vertex AI in the EU. Version 1.0.0 shipped on 31 August 2026, and the product is reachable from the web, from Microsoft Word and Outlook add-ins, and from mobile.

Pricing & Plans
Clausis publishes no price. A free trial is offered without a credit card, and cancellation during the trial takes effect immediately. Whether a permanent free plan exists is not clear: the English llms-full.txt refers to a free tier, while the Hungarian pages consistently describe a free trial only. Beyond the trial, the terms describe subscription packages payable in advance on a monthly or annual basis, with at least thirty days' notice of any price change, settled by card or bank transfer against an electronic invoice, with Stripe acting as payment and subscription processor. No amount, plan name or currency appears anywhere on the site, in its sitemap, in its llms.txt files or in its structured data, which declares HUF as the offer currency but carries no price at all. Firms and in-house teams are invited to request a tailored quote by email.

GDPR overview
Implementation is concrete rather than declarative. The privacy notice, last updated 19 May 2026, names the controller (ClausisAI Technologies Kft., 1052 Budapest), states a legal basis under Article 6 for each purpose, and sets out the rights of Articles 15, 16, 17, 18, 20 and 21 alongside consent withdrawal. A data protection impact assessment was carried out under Article 35. The vendor states there is no automated decision-making within the meaning of Article 22, because the lawyer takes the decision. Erasure requests are answered within 30 days with confirmation, and personal data breaches are notified within the 72-hour deadline. Thirteen sub-processors are named, an Article 28 data processing agreement is offered on request, and the supervisory authority is the Hungarian NAIH.
Who owns the data?
Under the terms the user keeps what they bring: data and content supplied to the service remain the user's property, and the right to use the documents and filings the AI generates belongs to the user. The platform itself — software, design and logo — remains the vendor's exclusive property. For data protection purposes the roles split in two: ClausisAI is an independent controller for the lawyer's own account data, but acts only as an Article 28 processor for the client data, case files and documents the lawyer uploads, where the lawyer remains the controller. The vendor states it uses that material solely to the extent required to provide the service.
Reuse rights
The user may reuse generated content without asking permission: the terms assign the right of use in generated documents and filings to the user, with no licence-back to the vendor. Material entered into the platform is processed only to deliver the service — answering questions, producing documents, running matters and billing — together with security, abuse prevention and support. Prompts and legal context are transmitted to Google Vertex AI in the EU for inference, while the Clausis database of legislation, decisions and conversations is kept separate from that service. The vendor states user data is never used to train or fine-tune models, and that it engages only AI providers whose API terms expressly exclude training on customer data.

Hosting summary
All data is stored on servers located within the European Union. The vendor names Frankfurt and Amsterdam as its data residency: the PostgreSQL database runs on Neon in Frankfurt, Germany, document and object storage on Cloudflare R2 in its EU region, authentication on Clerk in Frankfurt, and caching on Upstash in an EU region. The application is hosted on Vercel, using EU edge servers alongside a global content delivery network. Inference runs through Google Vertex AI in the EU, and the vendor states the Clausis database of legislation, decisions and conversations remains separate from that AI service, with durable storage on its own EU servers. Where a provider operates global infrastructure, such as the Vercel CDN or Stripe, the vendor relies on European Commission adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. Data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit. The hosting providers hold ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certifications, which belong to those providers rather than to the vendor.

- Professional responsibility does not transfer. The terms place the entire duty to review AI output, verify citations and answer to the client on the lawyer, and the vendor disclaims liability for the accuracy or currency of the references it generates.
- Automation bias is the central risk in this category: an answer that arrives with a formatted citation feels already verified. The vendor itself does not guarantee that references are in force, complete or accurate, so every provision still has to be checked at source.
- Skill erosion. Delegating research, drafting and deadline-keeping can quietly thin the judgement the work depends on, especially for junior lawyers who never build the search habits themselves.
- Confidentiality exposure. Prompts and legal context are transmitted to a third-party model provider. Anonymisation is offered and no training is claimed, but material covered by attorney secrecy still leaves the firm's machine.
- Compliance facts taken from this site are revocable. ISO 27001 is asserted without a number, body or date, and the site contradicts itself on whether that certification belongs to Clausis or to its hosting providers.
- Budgeting is blind. No price is published anywhere, so the cost of dependence cannot be weighed before adoption, and the terms allow unilateral price changes on thirty days' notice.
- Vendor continuity. Both product and company are very new, and the legal entity previously carried a different name, which is a real consideration for a system that would hold a firm's entire archive.

The vendor is also unusually candid where this category is usually vague. It publishes thirteen named sub-processors, marks each jurisdiction as live, in preparation or planned, and states in writing that its SOC 2 reference means adherence to a framework and not a certification. The reservations are real. No price is published anywhere, so the cost of adoption cannot be assessed before contact. The marketing site exists only in Hungarian. A mobile application is advertised on the site and in its structured data but could not be found on either app store. ISO 27001 is claimed for the company itself without a certificate number or certification body, and the site's own machine-readable documentation attributes that certification to its hosting providers instead.
