Glyde is a Chrome extension and web app that records a browser workflow, or ingests an existing MP4, MOV or Loom video, and turns it into a written standard operating procedure with purpose, scope, prerequisites and annotated steps.
What is Glyde?
Glyde is a Chrome extension paired with a web application, published by WOX LLC, a Washington limited liability company whose published mailing address is in Dallas, Texas. Its promise is to turn any workflow into a living guide: rather than asking you to write documentation, it watches the work and writes the procedure for you.
There are two ways in. You can start the recorder and simply do the job, while the extension follows clicks, typing and navigation and captures a screenshot at every step. Or you can start from a video you already have: an MP4, a MOV, a screen recording, a pasted Loom link, or an entire Loom library imported in batches of up to 500. A multimodal AI then reads the DOM state, the screenshots and any optional voice narration, and produces a standard operating procedure in which each step carries three things: what was done, why it matters, and where it sits in the wider process. The publisher is blunt about the target: the output is not a list of screenshots, but a document with purpose, scope, prerequisites and annotated steps that someone unfamiliar with the process can follow on day one.
Two features round the product out on every plan. Guide Me replays a finished SOP as an interactive overlay inside the browser, highlighting the next click and the expected input. SmartBlur detects and masks passwords, emails, phone numbers and card numbers on-device, before anything leaves the machine. Finished guides can be published as public, password-protected, domain-restricted or invite-only links, embedded in Notion or Confluence, or exported to PDF, DOCX, Markdown and Google Drive.
Glyde addresses Engineering, Customer Success, Operations, HR, Sales and Legal and Compliance teams, and backs its case with a public gallery of real SOPs for tools such as Zoom, GitHub, Figma, Asana, Freshdesk and Zendesk, a template library, and seven free side tools that need no account. The company claims 2,400+ SOPs generated, 150+ active teams, 94% of time saved and a 4.9/5 average rating: figures it publishes itself, none of them independently verified. Founded in 2025 according to the site and led by founder and CEO Tao Huang, it positions itself openly against Scribe, Tango, Guidde, Loom, Google Docs and Glitter.

GDPR overview
GDPR is addressed explicitly. WOX LLC declares itself controller under the EU GDPR and the UK GDPR for account and website data, and processor on behalf of its customer for customer content. The legal bases are stated: contract, legitimate interests, consent for non-essential cookies and marketing, and legal obligation. Rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection, restriction, withdrawal of consent and complaint to a supervisory authority are offered, alongside US state rights (California, Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut). A Data Processing Addendum is published, applies automatically and incorporates the Standard Contractual Clauses for EU, UK and Swiss transfers, with the UK Addendum and supplementary measures; a countersigned copy is available on request. No automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effect is performed. Two gaps: Glyde appoints no Article 27 EU representative and names no data protection officer.
Who owns the data?
Under section 6 of the terms you keep ownership of the recordings, screenshots, transcripts and documentation you create or upload, and you also own the output generated from that content. You grant WOX LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence limited to hosting, storing, reproducing, transmitting, adapting and displaying your material in order to run the service; it ends when you delete the content or close your account, subject to retention periods. Glyde is controller for account and website data, processor for customer content, so if you signed up through an employer, the employer controls it. No warranty of originality or non-infringement is given on the output.
Reuse rights
You may reuse your own material freely and without asking permission: you own both your uploads and the generated output, so editing, publishing, exporting or redistributing an SOP is entirely your call, with the caveat that the publisher gives no warranty of originality or non-infringement, leaving the review to you. On its side, Glyde uses data to run the service and convert recordings into documentation, handle payments and subscriptions, send service and security messages, diagnose and improve the product, fight fraud, send marketing you can unsubscribe from, and meet legal obligations. The conversion itself runs through third-party models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Fireworks AI, Google and Microsoft Azure, which may keep submitted content for a limited time for abuse monitoring before deleting it. Glyde states that it does not train AI models on your content and does not permit its providers to, that your content is used to produce your output and nothing else, and that it sells no data, shares none for cross-context advertising and performs no profiling with legal effect. Usage data is still collected automatically: pages and features viewed, timestamps, IP address, approximate location, browser and operating system, device identifiers, extension version and diagnostics. Analytics run on Umami served from Glyde's own domain, with no Google Analytics and no advertising pixel; Global Privacy Control signals are honoured, Do Not Track is not.

Hosting summary
Glyde operates no data centre of its own: personal data lives in the facilities of its cloud infrastructure providers, which the publisher says maintain physical access control, environmental hazard protection and independent audit certifications. All nine disclosed subprocessors are located in the United States, namely OpenAI, Anthropic, Fireworks AI, Google, Microsoft Azure, Stripe, Amazon Web Services (SES), Microsoft 365 and Slack, with Microsoft Azure providing cloud hosting, storage and part of the model processing. The security measures described in the DPA include TLS encryption in transit over public networks, encryption at rest in the storage and database layers, role-based access control on a least-privilege basis, logging, periodic security review, encrypted backups and documented recovery procedures. Transfers out of the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are covered by the Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum. No European data residency option is offered: for EU customers the protection is contractual rather than geographic.

- You alone are responsible for the legal basis of each recording, including obtaining consent where the law requires it: several US states and many countries demand the consent of every party to an audio recording
- Recordings incidentally capture everything visible on screen, including the personal data of colleagues and customers, so check the SmartBlur redactions before sharing, and never record regulated data such as health information, card numbers or government identifiers without a written agreement
- AI output can be inaccurate or incomplete: proofread it, and never use it as the sole basis for decisions in safety-critical, medical, financial or legal contexts
- Documenting a process is not the same as understanding it: teams that publish generated guides without reviewing them can propagate a bad practice at scale, and slowly lose the know-how the guide was meant to preserve
- Content passes through five third-party AI providers that may retain it for a limited time for abuse monitoring, and hosting and processing are United States only, so European users rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses rather than on local residency
- Mandatory individual arbitration and a class-action waiver apply unless you opt out by email within 30 days, and liability is capped at the greater of twelve months of fees or USD 100
- Enterprise API access is advertised without any public documentation, and there is no uptime commitment outside a contractual SLA: confirm both, and the solidity of a company this recent, before building anything critical on the tool

Glyde does one thing and aims it precisely: turning a recording, made live or already in your video library, into a written procedure someone else can actually follow. Its real differentiators are the depth of that output, which the publisher deliberately contrasts with captioned screenshot lists; the bulk conversion of an existing Loom library of up to 500 videos without replaying a single process; and the fact that Guide Me and SmartBlur sit on every plan, including the free one, instead of being reserved for enterprise buyers.
For a company of this size, the data posture is unusually solid: a categorical commitment never to train models on customer content, extended contractually to its AI providers and echoed by an ai-train=no signal in robots.txt; nine subprocessors named with purpose and location; a public, self-executing DPA with the Standard Contractual Clauses incorporated; and 30-day deletion rules that are actually written down.
