Vasara
Vasara is a Lithuanian legal AI assistant that grounds answers in verified Lithuanian and EU legislation and case law. It plugs into Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot, or runs in its own web workspace, with one-click source checking.
What is Vasara?
Vasara is a legal AI assistant built for a single jurisdiction: Lithuania, together with European Union law. It is published by Sunny Ventures UAB, a company based in Vilnius.
The opening argument is blunt. General-purpose AI, the vendor says, gets Lithuanian law wrong convincingly: it cites rulings that do not exist, articles that have been repealed, and propositions the quoted source does not actually support. You find out only when you check every one of them, or when somebody else does. The response is not to promise correct answers but checkable ones.
Three principles are stated. Sources come only from a curated collection of Lithuanian and EU legislation and case law that the vendor maintains itself, rather than from the open web or the model's memory. The tool returns the exact extract, the article, the paragraph or the part of a ruling a statement is drawn from, instead of a paraphrase. And each cited source opens in one click, so a reader can see whether it really says what the answer claims.
The collection covers Lithuanian legislation from the TAR register in consolidated versions, municipal acts on the Pro tier, EU regulations and directives, Lithuanian case law from the Constitutional Court down to district courts, and rulings of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights. Positions issued by the tax, labour, public procurement, construction supervision and energy authorities are included on Pro. Supreme court practice reaches back to 2010, other courts to the past ten years, and sources are refreshed daily from the Basic plan.
There are two ways to work. A connector brings Vasara inside Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft 365 Copilot, so the user keeps the assistant they already have. Alternatively a standalone web workspace adds legal search, document analysis, drafting, translation, case-law monitoring, project folders for large matters and structured extraction tables.
Law firms, businesses and the public sector each get a dedicated page. The vendor claims 12,115 legal searches a month as of July 2026, 1,486 document analyses, and more than 300 lawyers using it in Lithuania. The interface is Lithuanian only.
What it does
- Ask a legal question and receive an answer with citations you can open
- Search Lithuanian and EU legislation and case law by meaning rather than keyword
- Analyse uploaded PDF, DOCX and TXT documents, including scanned ones
- Generate a first draft of a legal document from a template or your own model
- Translate documents and produce bilingual versions in parallel columns
- Monitor newly published rulings in your practice area by email
- Turn large document sets into structured data in columns you define
When to use Vasara / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Vasara is the right fit.
When to use Vasara
- Lithuanian law firms handling litigation, client advice and M&A transactions
- In-house counsel who need to know which rule is currently in force and why
- Public-sector teams working on procurement, regulation and internal compliance
- Non-lawyers in compliance, purchasing and administration who face legal questions
- Teams already paying for Claude or ChatGPT who want verifiable legal citations inside them
When not to use Vasara
- Anyone working outside Lithuanian and EU law: no other jurisdiction is covered
- Organisations that require on-premise deployment, which the vendor explicitly refuses
- Lawyers expecting finished pleadings rather than a first draft to work from
- Legislative drafters, where the vendor admits the tool currently helps less
- Users who need a non-Lithuanian interface, since the workspace is in Lithuanian only
How to use Vasara
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create a Vasara account: any plan works, including the free Start tier
- Choose between the connector inside your own AI assistant and the standalone web workspace
- For Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and paste the MCP server URL
- For ChatGPT, switch on Developer mode in Advanced settings, then create the connector with the same URL; a paid account is required and the feature is in beta
- For Microsoft 365 Copilot, hand setup to an IT administrator, who registers the connector from the admin centre using an SSO or OAuth 2.0 registration ID
- Sign in with your Vasara account to authorise the connection through OAuth 2.1
- Or simply sign up on the web application and confirm with the code sent to your inbox
- Start the 14-day trial to unlock every Max feature without your card being charged
- Upload PDF, DOCX or TXT files: around 80 pages in the assistant chat, unlimited inside projects
- Ask your question, then open each cited source and verify it before relying on the answer
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Every statement arrives with a source that opens in one click
- Answers draw on a curated legal collection, not on web search or model memory
- Complements the AI assistant a team already pays for instead of replacing it
- Data processed in the EU, with a no-training commitment extended to model and infrastructure suppliers
- Permanent free plan plus a 14-day trial with no card charge and no annual commitment
- Institutional positions from tax, labour, procurement, construction and energy authorities in citable form
- The vendor documents in detail what the product cannot do
Cons
- Lithuanian-only interface, with no English version of the site
- Coverage limited to Lithuanian and EU law, with no other jurisdiction planned for now
- No on-premise deployment; the vendor states plainly that it will not offer one
- Lower-court case law is incomplete beyond the past ten years
- Licences are strictly per person, and sharing credentials can cost access
- No published sub-processor list, no named hosting country and no security certification
- The privacy policy reserves transfers outside the EU and EEA while the product pages promise none

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Vasara handles your data.
GDPR overview
Compliance is claimed explicitly and repeatedly. The privacy policy, updated 23 January 2026, names Sunny Ventures, entity code 307543731, Pilies g. 16 in Vilnius, as controller, cites Article 15 GDPR for the right of access, and lists the rights to information, access, erasure, rectification, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent and complaint, with a link to the EDPB list of supervisory authorities. Requests are handled within 30 calendar days, extendable by two months for complex cases, and proof of identity may be required. The connector documentation adds that Vasara operates with GDPR and the EU AI Act in mind. No data protection officer is named. No Article 27 representative is designated, and none is needed, the company being established in Lithuania.
Who owns the data?
Under the terms of service, the Vasara platform and its software, design, databases, algorithms and models, together with all related intellectual property, belong exclusively to Sunny Ventures UAB. Users receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the output they generate, whether answers, documents or summaries, for personal and professional purposes while the terms remain in force. That right does not extend to reselling it, sub-licensing it, or using it to build a competing product or service. Sunny Ventures acts as controller for personal data. Nothing in the published documents transfers ownership of uploaded files to the vendor, although the vendor states that it can access an account as administrator to correct errors.
Reuse rights
Users may reuse what Vasara produces for their own professional work without asking permission: the licence is granted by the terms themselves. Because it is non-exclusive and non-transferable, output cannot be resold, sub-licensed, or used to build a competing product. On the vendor's side, account, usage and device data are processed on the basis of consent and of legal obligations, and may be disclosed to suppliers and service providers such as payment processors, to authorities, to business partners and shareholders bound by equivalent standards, and to the other party in a merger or acquisition. Inputs, queries and uploaded documents are never used to train or fine-tune models, an undertaking the vendor also requires from its model and infrastructure suppliers. No individual sub-processor is named anywhere.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
The product pages state that all data is processed exclusively within the European Union, in full compliance with the GDPR, and is not transferred to third countries. The connector documentation repeats that user requests are processed within the EU. The privacy policy is more guarded: it says data is stored and processed in the EU and the EEA, but that transfer and storage outside those areas may sometimes be necessary, and that processors operating outside them may be involved, with a commitment to transfer only what is needed and to apply reasonable safeguards. This is a genuine discrepancy between the marketing pages and the binding policy, and it is worth raising before sensitive material is uploaded. No country, data centre or hosting provider is named anywhere. The technical measures disclosed are encryption at rest and in transit, detailed audit logs, and role-based access control. The domain itself resolves to a Cloudflare anycast address in the United States, which reflects the content delivery edge and says nothing about where data is stored.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Vasara.
- The final answer is written by an AI model: the vendor guarantees the source, not the conclusion, and expects you to verify
- Convenience erodes habit; the faster checking becomes, the easier it is to stop opening the ruling at all
- Uploading privileged client material to any third-party service moves real risk, whatever the contractual commitments say
- The site contradicts itself on hosting: product pages promise no transfer outside the EU, the privacy policy reserves one
- No sub-processor list, no named hosting country, and no security certification such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2
- Liability is capped at what you paid over the last 12 months, with indirect damages excluded
- Terms, feature scope and prices can all change on 30 days' notice, and unlimited tiers are subject to fair use
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low for most users. Adding the connector to Claude means pasting one URL and signing in through OAuth; nothing is installed and no server is hosted. ChatGPT is slightly harder: a paid account is required, Developer mode has to be switched on once, and the feature is still in beta. Microsoft 365 Copilot is the only demanding path, since an IT administrator with Global or AI Administrator rights must obtain an SSO or OAuth 2.0 registration ID from the Teams Developer Portal first. The standalone web application needs nothing beyond a sign-up and an emailed code.

Should you pick Vasara?
Vasara is a narrow tool, and deliberately so. One jurisdiction, one interface language, and a single promise: not that the answer is right, but that the source behind it can be opened and checked in a second. For a Lithuanian lawyer who already uses Claude or ChatGPT and has been burned by a confident citation to a ruling that does not exist, that is a precise and useful proposition.
The commercial design matches it. Vasara does not ask a firm to migrate anything: the connector sits inside the assistant people already open every morning, the free Start plan never expires, and the 14-day Max trial runs without a card charge or an annual commitment. Anyone can test it against their own files before spending anything.
The reservations are mostly about what is not written down. Data protection commitments are strong on the product pages, processing in the EU, no training on customer data, encryption and audit logs, but the privacy policy quietly reserves transfers outside the EU and EEA, and no sub-processor, hosting country or security certification is ever named. A firm handling privileged material should raise that discrepancy before uploading anything sensitive. The publisher is also very young and very small, which matters for a tool meant to sit in a professional workflow.
Anyone outside Lithuanian and EU law can stop reading: nothing else is covered. Anyone needing an on-premise deployment can too, since the vendor refuses to offer one and says so. For everyone else in Lithuanian legal work, the honest way to judge Vasara is the one it invites: load a matter you know well and see whether the sources hold up.
